    Nothing at all

in reply to: Poor Old Bolton #125489

Another reason why Whelan should be applauded (debt /equity swap a couple of years back). Putting WAFC back on a more sound financial footing ….

Bowton were already 110+M in debt when they went down – not all brought on by relegation. They already were in fairly direr straits at the time.

They continue to pay the likes of D Ngogg 35k weekly apparently. And you wonder why some clubs have financial problems …

The name Peter Ridsdale (Leeds) spark any memories ?

in reply to: Burnley hooligans #125386
Apparently it kicked off outside the T’Hen O’le on Gidlow lane before the game. About 100 Burnley scum tried to smash their way into the pub. I hear the Wigan lads defended it very well and gave more than they got !!

Pity our strike force today didn’t have as much punch

in reply to: Powell, macca and Roger #125375

Bob – spot on. The only midfielder (Gomez) who looked capable (as versus Brum’) of unlocking the Burnley defence. Notice how the likes of Ramis etc. continually sought him out today ….

Don’t understand UR substitutions : Gomez – our only creative midfielder off – Roger ‘headless’ Expinoza on ??? As for McClean (Fortune) .. well..(flatters to deceive)!

Half-time : For me, McCann ought to have been off, Callum Mc put up front, alongside Fortune (subbed for Holt – 65/70 mins.), with Nick Powell dropping back to central midfield (pushing forward); Second half very poor today – wouldn’t have scored in a month of Sundays – January transfer window – ‘mobile’ striker, plus decent midfielder.

    in reply to: holt #125327

Holt, very disappointed (formation, whatever ……pedestrian).

Best and only Latics player to come out with real credit yesterday … Jordi ! By a country mile. The only guy who gave the impression he ‘loves the football’. Played JB in 4/5 times, got a man sent off to boot.

Credit to him for outsmarting ‘the boo-boys’. Pity, he/s off if Sundat newspaper football gossip proves to be true; allegedly, p1ssed off with the poor treatment he get’s from the doom-mongers.

Watson back, and Gomez in from the off on Sunday (Burnley). Powell in for Holt.

January transfer window – hopefully, we’ll manage to srengthen our strike force (and keep Powell), though can’t see it being easy (player availability / money).

in reply to: Will there be any chater fights to FC Rubin Kazan? #121016

can’t speak a word other than ‘i don’t understand russian, i’m english’ (down to a fine art) – comes in very handy when stopped by PC plod for speeding – ignorance sometimes bliss !

pay me a singapore (based) – russia air fare, double money for local courier services rendered, and i’ll think about it (not!)

Once spent 14 months living in Moscow, definitely a case of watch out for yourself, no one else does. Russian work colleague (male, 30s) of mine out on a car trip to the Greater Moscow region for the weekend once took 14 hours to get back home thanks to traffic and the small matter of having left behind his RIFLE somewhere (requiring about turn), notwithstanding the fact he was in a convey /party of 3 cars …. disguised policeman, bandits, guerilla’s ….. you name it…you never know who may step out, he said. FORGET IT !

If no plane on arrival at Moscow airport, i was always under strict company orders not to accept taxi ride at airport (2/3 corrupt, illegal), but call PA and await reserved taxi (all day if necessary).

At best you get shafted, and the very worst, your throat slit !

not forgetting the fact that in winter its feckin’ freezing and snowbound …. a winter wonderland it’s not, depressing it is.

if you choose to chance fate, Moscow an interesting place to visit …. all above apply, and the coppers are as bent as deck (passport always !!!)

    Best of luck ….

agreed, and the EPL is over-hyped, but lets be honest, playing in the SPL against the likes of St Johnstone /St Mirren, or whoever, ain’t no great shakes either ……..hence, the desire of Rangers and Celtic to fly the nest.

Good European cup campaign for the celts last year the first in many a year ….

kinnear appointed director of football at the toon, and says he will have final say on signings

pardew has got away with it rather easily.

could have been a lot worse .. i.e. genuine threat to his position.

kinnear, the beneficiary of a triple-by pass op and some 60 odd years of age is hardly the future is he ? another ashley master stroke ? short-termism ?

extension to the cockney brigade, the geordies will be impressed !

in reply to: COYLE CONFIRMED #116159
Absolute disaster.I will not be renewing my season ticket. Players will want to leave and he will not be able to attract the right players. Just wait for the Burnley and Bolton rejects.

    Go …

in reply to: Shortening odds on Owen Coyle #115539
Just seems like an easy out does this, If true. There are far more managers with potential than Coyle. Though he did do a good job at Burnley and in Scotland but hit a brick wall with funds at Bolton.

I don’t think Whelan is interested in progression though. All money to him, No other chairman pimps out his managers or players. It’s a laughable way to conduct yourself if you were slightly interested in progression. Money, money, money, Sod the fans. We don’t deserve a football club after all though do we as we don’t sell out every game according to him and line his pockets. If he doesn’t get his own way he cries to the relevant people who will listen. You won’t get bums on seats if you don’t show that you want us to progress. Not just spending cheap and hoping for a fluke promotion to come straight back down again. It’s time to hand the club over. If it’s in profit then it will sell, Not how Dave makes out how no one wants it, no money ever comes in, not a pot to piss in blah blah.

    sell to who ?

Everton / Kenwright has / have had much success to date looking for a benefactor as well …..
(big city club to boot …)

in reply to: Took us Down n Left, Ta #114732

    – N Adkins (under contract, so probably no chance)
    – R Di Matteo (mixed success at WBA)
    – G Neville (untried, talks a lot of sense on TV)
    – G Jones (Everton exit?)
    – D Ferguson (DW bosom buddies with SAF, Darren – mixed success at Posh, PNE balls-up)
    – G Poyet (suspended by Brighton)
    – P Neville (player-manager)

Preference: Phil Neville (player-manager) or Gus Poyet

in reply to: Whelan at his Machievellian best? #114445
Whatever the reason for the delay, I’d put money on it being a charade just like the Villa job and just like the Liverpool job.

It gets Whelan on every sports TV and radio show, and makes sure Wigan Athletic remains in the news.

couldn’t have put it any better myself

    goodpost
