26 May 2011 at 12:12 pm in reply to: season tickets – would welcome people’s opinion on this…. #66677Great offer to existing season ticket holders and the fact they wont let the kids move to the West stand is a bonus for us who want to enjoy watching the football.
Agreed, keep the noisy brats out of the West Stand. I’m all for the peace and quiet :shhh:
bobbygentry ?
The table based on the last 13 games –
1 Chelsea
2 Manchester United
3 Manchester City
4 Everton
5 Liverpool
6 West Bromwich Albion
7 Fulham
8 Aston Villa
9 Wigan Athletic
10 Arsenal
11 Tottenham Hotspur
12 Wolverhampton Wanderers
13 Newcastle United
14 Stoke City
15 Bolton Wanderers
16 Blackburn Rovers
17 Blackpool
18 Sunderland
19 West Ham United
20 Birmingham CityTo say Martinez has turned us into a low scoring team is not a fact, it is wrong.
As I’ve posted before if you look at our goals/game since we’ve been in the premiership this season is the 2nd highest since our arrival in the premiership –Season Goals/Game
2005-06 1.18
2006-07 0.97
2007-08 0.89
2008-09 0.89
2009-10 0.97
2010-11 1.00Now, you can say we are a low scoring team because “low” is a relative word and is therefore open to interpretation and opinion but well, look at the facts….more goals per game this season than the previous four seasons…
Yes, very sad day. What a competitor and what a gentleman.
Has to be Al Habsi if it hadnt been for him we would have been relegeted by nowNo, has to be Hugo, if it wasn’t for him we would have qualified for Europe by now.
Just joking, honest

I too thought it was a good performance but I’m afraid I completely missed the “sitting back part of the game”.
I too predicted a draw and feel we are still on a survival path.Going off form Wolves will lose at home to WBA and draw their last two games.
It’s his birthday today
Everton – draw
Villa – draw
West ham – win
Stoke – drawOr any other permutation
unbeaten in 4 including a win ?
have we managed that in the league under martinez ?
not a dig just asking.[/quote]
yes, we have, twice this season, starting 25th Sep & 4th Dec
I have to day I’m glad our performances of late have improved, yet it’s points we need at this time and not just performances. On Saturday we got both but ultimately we struggle to score even when we play well which is a worry. Our recent form (and results) have been good. If you look at our last 6 games against teams in the lower half of the table we’ve won 4 and drawn 2, scoring 14 and getting 14 points. The perception of our recent results is perhaps a bit skewed as in our last 7 games we’ve played both Manchesters, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs and we’ve still taken 8 points.
Since 1st Feb we’ve played 9 and got 12 points, comfortable mid-table form.
Isn’t Excel wonderful
The game had been killed off so why not bring Gomez on, the lad is guaranteed to win you free kicks in the opposition half.:text-goodpost:
I see the “low scoring drivel” drivel is still being trotted out, yet again I’ll have to correct that –
season Goals Ave/game
2010/11 27 0.93
2009/10 37 0.97
2008/09 34 0.89
2007/08 34 0.89
2006/07 37 0.97
2005/06 45 1.18Being aware of your fondness for pedantry I thought I would check if urban legends can be included in this urban myths thread or would you prefer it to be exclusively myths?
“..of the 45 goals we have conceded, 10 of those have been in the final 5 mins of a half ( 5 between 40-45 mins and 5 (40%) of those being conceded in the final 3rd of the game…”
I’ve found a recent study of when goals are scored – http://www.sjss-sportsacademy.edu.rs/ar … archive/44
It doesn’t show the 5 mins breakdown but the other figures are very close.
