Classic deflection..
I rather think that Coyle hopes that by securing a lucrative deal for Ali it will save his (already) flagging managerial career.
He’s for the chop….and we should call his bluff.
Quality offer that Jay…..
……for me it’s a night on the ’tiles’ in Blackpool, overnight with some chums then off to see Fleetwood Town take on Cambridge on Sunday – nice little stadium they now have and good ol’ Blue Square Grass Roots footy.
8-)
Me too.
Forward thinking, attacking midfielder who will run at defences.
Touted as the new ‘Scholes’…… and I can see why. Let’s hope he stays.
Can’t think of many worse challenges. Graeme Souness on his debut for Rangers against Hibs (?) might just edge it out of the most horrendous spot. How about this one from Roy Keane..

Nah!
this all happened after Jordi’s goal and before Rodders scored…..
……in fact not long after Bosseli sat down Martinez brought on Diame (74th minute). :?
Now this is not a ‘dig’ at Martinez…..
………….however, can anyone please explain to me why he had Bosseli warming up for 10 minutes, stripped off for 10 minutes (with the usual “look at the pretty pictures in my book – next week I get to colour them in” briefing), stood on the touchline waiting to come on…then, next he was back on his arris, trackie on. Thought he was coming on for Rodders.
Did I miss something?
Just come good today? Total garbage. The only difference today was that only about 50% instead of 90% of the usual numb nuts got on his back.Amen to that.
However, like Horc, I too have been a critic in the past, but I have never booed him….(or any other player now I think of it) and was suitably impressed with him yesterday. He is, after all, a young lad and a large part of his game will be his confidence – yesterday will have been a great lift for him.
His game play was much better, he was lively, and he was making those ‘defence splitting’ passes when it was obvious that McCarthy had parked his bus looking for the one point.
Full credit to the young lad for not losing his bottle after ‘that’ tackle (which I firmly believe is all part of McCarthy’s team talk) and getting on with it……….
…………he won quite a few over yesterday. Let’s hope he can keep it up.
He was quoted £50 in total plus booking fee. £20 for him, £15 each for kids. He decided not to bother. I don’t blame him.
Just out of interest….
……how much do you think he should pay to see Premiership Football?
Seriously…..
Well for a game against Wolves £5 for the kids and £10 for adults.
I’m sorry but I just don’t get it.
….are you saying that the ‘pick and choosers’ should pay less than those who have purchased Season Tickets?
Do you honestly believe this to be fair (to the ST holders) and a proper price (it’s a premier league fixture for heavens sake)
Its thirteen and a half quid on the door at SeaLife in Blackpool – out in under an hour – and you’re not even allowed to shout at the fish.
In my opinion, the prices reflect good value when looked at nationally.

Well that’s me told then……
Jimmy, you certainly do have your knickers in a twist about nothing really. How on earth do you deduce that I have “a very unhealthy obsession with the Mudhuts website” as it’s one of the sites I purposefully avoid – there is nothing on there of interest to me (not even a lurk) and this…… how can I describe it?……… declaration of yours that you seem to think that I am some kind of self appointed leader of this site and protector blah blah……
I think that there are several others on here who contribute so much, not only on the forums, but also behind the scenes that would feel a little put out by that – my ‘massive’ 300 odd forum posts have oviously made an impact – more so than say the two and half thousand Griff has posted or the others who have posted more than a thousand – further…… I rate Dave’s input to this board as more important (at least his writings are entertaining) than anything I have ever written here.
……and this little nugget – “I’d better ask as you are taking such a deep and unhealthy interest in me” – beggars belief. This is (only) the second time you have had to respond to something I’ve ever written. The first time you had cause to write (pretty much the same diatribe actually) was when you thought I was having a go when I used to write on the LittleWigan site – you even had a go at Adam thinking that he had condoned my views………that my friend was four years ago(ish); and now you take exception again and feel the need to repeat all your wonderfullness to everyone all over again – hardly me being obsessed by you, your site, your mates, your opinions or your dedication to the cause – quite honestly I don’t give a shiney sh !te – it’s your life.
Look, let me just recap for you.
You write article
Article is linked on this site for anyone to read (if they want to)
Some like……others don’t
(even you admitted that it descended into a rant)
It’s critiqued
You object
Get over yourself fella………….and get over the delusion that you think that I have a problem with you (two posts over a four year period is hardly stalking material) as I don’t have a problem from anyone from your site – yes you are right we are all big boys.
Now don’t be shy…..tell us all a little more about these online links on the 70’s and Jim Fleming et al – I could do with brushing up on the good ‘ol days. I’m sure, after all you have done for CL in the past, that the current management wouldn’t mind a spot of advertising – after all it’s all in the same common cause we all share so passionately.
Moving on now…….
Although this site has rebuilt itself since the demise of rivals.net, is any one else of the opinion that all the in fighting we have on here now is mainly down to the fact that there are no longer any ‘rivals’ to argue with? Now that chap, is exactly what’s wrong here.
I often go on a few ‘boards’ – purely for entertainment purposes you understand…….. and play merry hell with them. I’ve even ’embedded’ myself on the AVFTT (Blackpool – fansonline) board. They are a touchy lot and as soon as you say anything ‘controversial’ they automatically assume you’re a PNE supporter – great sport and it keeps the sharpness.
However, I think you are right……not that long ago we would get some of ours ‘largin’ it’ on rival boards only to get “can you come and collect xxxxxx as he seems to be making a fool of himself” comments.
We should encourage other fans to ‘have a go – debate‘ on here.
Will you start the ‘bidding’?
Jimmy does seem to have touched a lot if nerves; whether that was his intention or not, I’m not sure.It would appear, also, that there is a ‘crise de confiance’; there are only a couple of comments about the article that can be construed as a ‘disagreement of opinion’ yet it would appear that a ‘slurry of lies’ ensued.
As for me, I prefer to critique what I read (good or bad), if the author truely felt the need to berate those who he felt ‘dissed’ him then he shouldn’t have written the article. Write what you think, write with conviction, write with passion….but don’t whinge when someone disagrees with you. They are not ‘faceless cyber keyboard warriors’ they are the audience and if they want to throw tomatos then so be it.
As I said earlier, the article left itself open – as a ‘writer’ yourself you understand the pitfalls of verbosity, maybe a more succinct approach would have had more impact.
Personally, I’ve nothing against the intention of the article, it was the ‘lecturing’ I found distasteful – if we believed everyone who has ever written anything about the clubs’ history and it’s support then it began in the ‘Garden of Eden’ with a group of only 50 supporters…….oh and as early as the mid 70’s. I’m a little older than the author and believe me no one has a monopoly on who was the best, biggest, hardest, most loyal (away or home) supporter – they’ve come and gone….
………..as I said, and you alluded to earlier, it’s the JCL’s that frighten the Gerontophobics. We live in a different age, with different values…a technological age where the kids want everything NOW – even my boys get on my p@ps (sometimes) with their attitude, however, I move with them….I understand them…..I encourage them (men in their own right) and, as with any new fans (whinging or not), I will support and mentor them to continue to follow the club that I grew up with – for without them (the JCL’s) we have no future. I will not accept any self righteous epitaph – “Last of The Latics Supporters – God Rest his soul”.
Oh……it’s rude to assume (not you griff) that those who write on here do not know who ‘others’ are….. tut tut.
:D
Get lost, Micky. Your name’s not Matthew and you didn’t post that at twenty past six ;)………….and it’s this kind of response, sir, that keeps me sane and makes me chuckle.
Life’s too short ;)
Micky, that’s a very eloquent (drunken?) way of totally missing the point, I thinkThank you for your kind words, however, I totally got the authors intonations. An entertaining read nonetheless, spoilt in places when turned from essay to lecture – and maybe a touch too long. Had I the time or inclanation I’m sure a ‘grown up’ debate could be driven right through some of the ‘points’ made, but to be fair, I applaud anyone who finds the time to write passionately about their own beliefs – however cloudy they may be.
Me?…….. I’ve moved on; I’ve lost none of the fervour of the terraces and still ‘stand and shout’ in the Springfield Stand – and from your high vantage point you may have even seen and heard me….but I tend to live in the here and now; my days of ‘pulling up sandbags and swinging the lantern’ are over. I embrace our ‘new’ fans however few they may be and will encourage them to continue their support – even through these ‘lean’ times.
Now this is my radical take on things; let’s reverse this ‘support’ thought process and put the responsibility back to the players. When they come out of the tunnel on match days and look up and see 14000 of us applauding they need to believe that we may be few in comparison but we are massive in passion and belief and should apply their craft accordingly…
…………..Matthew 18:20
veta madre……..
What a thread……….what a f£ckin thread……..so much given up, by so many, for so few (there are lessons to be learnt here).
The anthropologist in me is …..well you know the rest.
Lecturing us from the smoke filled snug of the Ol’ Swan… …what a complete wheeze. Days of glory past and ‘chuckin’ in for players wages went out with ‘Capstans Full Strength’ and Woodbines, Electric Blue Parallels and Crombie’s. Reminiscence is a thing of the past. Literary prose is always welcome when relating to times gone by, however, this board is not about c0ck measuring, and books without pictures can be particularly frustrating – ‘Uncle Bulgaria’ told me that…(stupid winky thing here). Sharing of opinions, however, is what we do (or should do) if allowed, before the self righteous, fence sitting one line paraphrasers tell us otherwise.
I thought that this one was going to be a difficult one to call but, after taking a reality check, looked at the calendar and realised that I do indeed live in The Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Ten.
Tears to eyes moment came after reading the sycophantic responses protecting “the TaNaKh.”…. The ‘author’ must be creaming himsef – in his ivory tower – over some of his really sad (no honestly) sad subordinates……. it’s going to be an embarassing debrief over the usual ‘half of mild’ this week.
Quite honestly………..I’d rather see the return of ‘beetlejuice’ et al than suffer the moanings of the ‘fifth columnists’ – who can’t leave the past alone and have no affinity with this generation.
It’s been said that since our inception to the ‘Greed League’ we have seen an invasion of the JCL…..FFS it’s been 5 years….are we not allowed new supporters?
I suppose that’s why I’m ‘tarnished’………all those flat capped, whippet racing, mild drinking, woodbine smoking, pit working drunks knew more than me when I was a JCL watching Sir Milne and Mr Fleming knock them in in their day – but hey………it’s obvious that we need reminding.
Maybe it would have been better received had it been written in latin……. just a thought like.
