What I would add to the ‘mix’ is that half of them lacked pace in the second half. Caught on the break at least five times and no-one fast enough to catch them. Figs took the ball on a 60 yarder, before getting tackled then took 5 minutes catching his breath – no energy to chase down the ‘second ball’ that we were good at in the first half (there were many more examples of this) – my fear is that we do not have a fully fit team……..are they not training hard enough?

They are ‘Revisionists’ and believe that by portraying history through the eye of a camara after a (for the yanks) short period of time, it will become fact for them. With over 350 million of them burning more than 40% of the worlds resources serious questions have to be asked about their future intentions – special relationship? (My Arris)

Truth is, whether you like to accept it or not, without the Americans in WW2, we’d have been in trouble. No, seriously! Hitler was on our doorstep and on the verge of invading when the USA came into the war in 1941, and by the time the majority of GI’s shipped over here in ’42 and ’43, we were stretched to the core. Don’t forget, we were, and still are, a tiny, island nation. We had our army fighting on several different fronts, in Europe, Africa, and the Far East. For us to fight the combined might of the Nazi’s, and the Japanese Imperial Army, was a bloody big ask. In fact, Pearl Harbour was probably the best thing that could of happened to us, as it brought the Yanks into the war.
Add to that, Hitler’s mistake of taking on the Russians at the same time as us and the Yanks, and it was a massive mistake. His forces were so stretched. He simply took too much on.
I will say though, that the MODERN DAY American is a different breed, as is the modern day Brit, to that of the ‘Greatest Generation’. I have met some American veterans who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, and I have the same respect for them, as I do our own veterans.[/quote]My response to Mr Walker et al was not a illicitation for a chronology of events leading to who did what and when in the Second World War – believe it or not it is well documented and opinons on cause and effect have varied ever since – I will not be lectured on recent military history. We need look no further than the fact that their ‘chosen one’ states that in the openess and freedom of religion within their country he will not stop or get in the way of a mosque being built within sight/near to ‘Ground Zero’.
What a great way to stir up and fan the hatred flames against those who perpetrated that abomination….. what a great way (with minimum collateral damage) to stir up civil unrest to futher their aims.

The body language of the players was appalling on Saturday. I think there is serious unrest behind the scenes. I believe Bramble has said that one reason he left was that he felt they weren’t being trained hard enough. Our players certainly didn’t look very fit, and the frightening thing was they were yards off the pace to a Blackpool side that lacked finesse, but had guts, guile, and camerardrie. Everything we didn’t have.
And let’s be honest, it could easily have been 6 or even 7!
I am dreading Saturday, but then again, if we get done 6 or 7, it might be for the best, if Marteenez goes. I think he is vastly out of his depth, and truth is, he had ONE decent season at an everage Championship club, where he achieved nothing other than a reputation for ‘pretty football’ and finished EIGHTH, 6 points off a play off spot.
But for his club links, would Whelan have looked at him twice? No way. It was a mistake.

I might be jumping the gun a bit here, but I am very happy with what I have seen of each player so far. Each look like they ‘have’ something under their belts, and the squad definitely looks stronger, doesn’t it?
We signed Boselli, and I think that could become quite a coup, because he was said to be unlucky to miss out on Argentina’s World Cup squad. I’ve been watching clips on Youtube, and frankly he looks class.
And Alcaraz? Since when did we sign World Cup bound players? But we did. And going off how he looked against Real Zaragoza, he looks absolute quality. Comfortable on the ball, good distribution. Have we replaced Bramble with someone better? I definitely think so.
Add to that the likes of Stam, who was also wanted by Ajax, McCarthur, who looks a decent player, Al Habsi, who is reckoned to be a good keeper, and things look good. But also take into consideration the rejeuvenated Ben Watson, who looks hungry as anything to succeed at the club, and all in all we have a bloody decent squad. Our midfield, especially looks very healthy. In fact, ALL departments do.
I notice the No:7 shirt is still vacant. Wouldn’t ‘Tuncay 7’ be a cracking finish to a summer of signings? It would be the ‘cherry on the cake’, definitely.
Really hopeful this season. I think Roberto has been very shrewd with the players he’s landed. Here’s hoping!

i remember getting the train to leeds with a couple of mates 35 + years ago to get a crombie -not the cheap version sold in countdown or slaters -an original one that toffs and bankers with bowler hats wore from the proper manufacturers, cost me 40 quid if i remember , i had a summer holiday job in dave whelans supermarket on the old market square to pay for it.im amazed they are still going.
