It’s difficult to understand a lot of the posts here.
Stan Collymore must be another candidate. He admitted many of his failings in a Channel Five television show Confessions of a Premiership Footballer and in his autobiography Tackling My Demons.
He revealed details about the lack of discipline at Liverpool, the Spice Boys’ hedonistic sexual romps with women, threesomes in hotel rooms, and the problems they all faced, stressing his sexual addiction.
In 2004, Collymore was accused of taking part in dogging at Cannock Chase by an undercover News of the World reporter.
He now provides expert analysis on talkSPORT. Whatever happened to the News of the World?
….has officially lasted longer than Martinez’s Everton, in this years FA Cup. :cheer:But, jr, there isn’t any official record of how long teams last in the competition.
The record simply shows how far they go in it.
Yes – although that was in an attempt to save his marriage. I’m still not sure that he was any worse than many others.
Perhaps griff will give him a place on the bench. It’s a pity he chose not to play for England.
I remember Alf Ramsey telling Rodney Marsh that if he didn’t play well for England, he would pull him off at half time. Rodney Marsh replied that at Manchester City they were only given an orange.
Edit; I should add that I have never been invited for a night out on the town with Ryan Giggs or, indeed, any other professional footballer.
Sorry jr, but you didn’t just say that Everton capitulated against Arsenal today.
I think the word “CAPITULATE” was invented for Roberto Martinez’s teams.Clearly this didn’t apply to Roberto Martinez’s Wigan in the FA Cup last season.
I don’t want to fall out with you. You’re the only one who gives me information on Wigan’s formations, for which I am very grateful.
The FA Cup Semi-Final draw is scheduled to take place after Hull City v Sunderland on ITV just before 4pm.
Ian Wright and Shaun Wright-Phillips will make the draw. The draw numbers are;
1 Arsenal
2 Hull City or Sunderland
3 Sheffield United or Charlton Athletic
4 Manchester City or Wigan AthleticI think the word “CAPITULATE” was invented for Roberto Martinez’s teams.I watched the Cup Final too. The Wigan team – under Roberto – didn’t capitulate.
Arsenal certainly came off better today. But were Everton any worse than Arsenal when they lost 5-1 away to Liverpool or 0-2 at home to Bayern Munich?
We’re not just talking about bad behaviour. There are countless examples of that from footballers. I think that quite a number of footballers share his interest.
For example, in 2000, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Kieron Dyer appeared on a sex video filmed in Ayia Napa in Cyprus.
More seriously, several footballers have been arrested for rape, and some have been convicted.
….has officially lasted longer than Martinez’s Everton, in this years FA Cup. :cheer:Oh no they haven’t!
Officially, Wigan still haven’t got any further than Everton this year.
But Uwe and Wigan will have their chance tomorrow.
Capitulate? Roberto Martinez?
Under him, Wigan are the most unlikely Cup Winners!
Trains for Piccadilly depart from North Western at
12.58
13.58
14.58The journey takes half an hour. It’s 20 minutes walk from Piccadilly to the Etihad.
You can take a Metrolink tram from underneath Piccadilly station. But the trams can already be full when they arrive. You may have to wait some time.
Mark Lawrenson doesn’t think Wigan have a chance.
City won the League Cup last weekend. He thinks that winning a trophy early in the season gives a team a boost to their confidence that enables them to kick on and win further trophies.
Well it didn’t help Swansea last season. Their decline started after their League Cup win. And it didn’t help Birmingham City in 2011 – they were relegated. And Liverpool didn’t even achieve a Champions League place in 2012.
So winning the League Cup doesn’t necessarily lead to further success.
2008 Tottenham Hotspur Manager Juande Ramos – sacked
2009 Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson
2010 Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson
2011 Birmingham City Manager Alex McLeish – sacked
2012 Liverpool Manager Kenny Dalglish – sacked
2013 Swansea City Manager Michael Laudrup – sacked
2014 Manchester City Manager Manuel PellegriniOur following depends upon our allocation of tickets as well as the enthusiasm of our fans.
We could have taken more fans to the Etihad tomorrow. We were offered 6,000 tickets.
Apart from a quite ridiculous suggestion of Alex Ferguson, nobody has managed to come up with anyone that we hadn’t already considered. However, I should probably have pointed out that selection for the team was based on a vague formula comprising a combination of quality of player and level/notoriety of alleged addictedness.
Shakes head and walks away.
Do you ever wonder why people turn away from this site.
Spot on observation there edinburghlatic. Maybe his closing line should have read: Right this is our defining team, don’t bother with adding to it as we’ve made our mind up that there can be no changes because I/we know best for everbody. After all it’s only a bit of fun, my fun. And he was doing ok for a couple of days as well. Leopard and spots comes to mind.
Surely edinburghlatic doesn’t think that his proposal of Alex Ferguson was one of his better contributions. I don’t know why he should be upset.
This was set up as a light-hearted thread. griff may not suffer fools gladly but, itwasbackintheday, I can’t see why you’ve chosen this occasion to criticise him.
I’m not sure which villain you think I’m defending, Roy Keane, Sir Alex or griff. I certainly wouldn’t argue with Roy Keane.
So yet another thread ends in tears. I’m going back to Bottom Four Bob – the company is more tolerant over there.
We’re going into this cup tie with City in much better form than we did for the Cup Final. Uwe won the award for Manager of the Month, while the win at Forest was the Performance of the Week.
City suffered something of an eclipse in February, scoring just four goals in five games, and losing their important Champions League game at home to Barcelona.
They showed some signs of recovery in the League Cup Final against Sunderland. However, this cup tie comes inbetween the international midweek games and the return game in Barcelona.
City remain a force to be reckoned with, but I think a draw is within Wigan’s reach. I’m not sure that either manager would welcome yet another game, so both sides may be playing for a win on Sunday.
