Blackpool away on a freezing cold night in February, their first game will be against one of the top 4 I reckon….Spurs away
Superb achievement by Blackpool, hope they give it a really good go next season (except against us of course)…..absolutely brilliant for them and Holloway winding up Ferguson etc will be worth the entertainment value on its own
Holloway would be great in the Prem…he’s absolutely barking!
Quite simply we need Blackpool in the Prem cos Cardiff’s the alternative
Unbelieveable what that game is worth…..can I just say (takes deep breath), *come on you POOL!!
*surely no sane person outside Cardiff wants those scumbags in the Premier or no matter what our FA do we’ll never get the World Cup
I believe its well hidden….thus preventing us from turning into Pompey
We’re going to need at least 1 keeper so for starters, ask the question to Utd/City about getting Foster/Hart on loan, or look at someone like Westwood from Coventry
A new left back….Shorey from Villa would be decent, depending on fee/wages, he;s not spectacular but you know what you;d be getting every week
We need a new right back as well, but no one instantly springs to mind…Belhadj from Pompey, though not sure if he’s a left or right back!
A right winger is needed, not been overly impressed with Sinclair, but maybe there is something there, could be worth another loan season
A couple of strikers, really tricky this, we’re never going to be a position to sign someone who’s guaranteed to get us 15 goals a season at this level, might be worth looking in Spain’s top league or the South American route for someone (not Christian Benitez though), £9m for him looks an awful lot of money
Agree with Vat, I’m fully behind Martinez, but he’s got to learn from his mistakes and certainly October/November is the time when a decision on Martinez’s future has to be made. If things are going ok, then fine, if not then given that the window would only be a few weeks away, then Bobby’s position as manager should be under review.
As for today, we were doing ok, without looking particularly dangerous until Caldwell’s sending-off. It looked like a dive from Lampard to most of us in the lower tier, but clearly wasn’t….it was a stupid challenge, one that perhaps he didn;’t need to make as Pollitt might have got to it. Chelsea then took full advantage, but it was disappointing the way we ran out of steam to such an extent
Beattie…..we allegedly got rid of Browny because he was becoming a bad influence in the dressing room, and you want us to sign Beattie???
Brown….see above
Eagles…..flatters to decieve, cant even get in Burnley’s team on a consistent basis
Fletcher….I’ll give you that one, at £3m he looks like he would have been well worth a punt, looks to be a tidy player
Well said Standish
“to be honest I just wish Whelan would stop disappointing the fans”….oh aye, I’m gutted I’ll be going to Old Trafford, Anfield, Emirates etc next season, just think without Whelan I’d have been lucky to be going to any of the 91 other league grounds in this country.
Mr Whelan, please continue disappointing me
You have seen the news today I presume, Pompey £130m in debt, this is from paying silly wages and transfer fees for players and you want us to sign a bloke that would cost £15m+ and command wages of at least £75K a week on gates of around 17,000.
*shakes head
Agree with most of what’s been said, but their first goal wasn’t offside, one of their players ran back from an offside position when the cross came over, but it wasnt the goalscorer.
Couldn’t understand Pollitt not getting a game today, we’re not going to sign Stoijkovic so Martinez has no need to see him in action. Pollitt might be looking to move in the summer to get a last chance to play regularly, so give him a game as a last send off, safe in the knowledge he wont let us down
Regardless of how many tickets we should give away fans, these prices must surely encourage Wiganers to get off their backsides…..very pleased to see the club doing their best to promote families attending the games, getting the youngsters in is surely the best way forward
Glanford Park?? Old Show Ground surely
I’d be tempted to take Moreno on loan again next season, let him have a full pre-season with us and see how he shapes up.
As for Sinclair, he seems to have been on loan at about 10 clubs now and no-one has taken a punt on him, tells you something really and though he’s not been given many chances, when he has played he’s not really been that impressive…disappointed with him, thought he was far better than he;s turned out.
