Given our investment in youth and the number of people paid as staff I find it difficult to believe Rochdale with crowds of 2k can compete with us for the best kids in the area. Perhaps I’m being unfair but its hardly impressive!
Hell fire. So much for our academy plans. Five nil against a club of that stature can’t spell promise for the future!
Wouldnt want to be in trenches with some of you men. We dont need favours. Its still in our hands!
Hang on a minute lads! No need to hoist the white flag yet. FFS its still in our hands. We just neeed to keep Villa within 3 points and if we win our game in hand we should do. Other teams could also come into play yet. Agreed its not a cracking result but ive seen us 1-6 on to go down before now and we have escaped.
Ali is our keeper and Robles will be off in a few games never to be seen again in all probability. The reason we have stayed up in previous years is down to Ali and a few games where he wasn’t at his best behind a defence lacking confidence doesn’t make him a bad keeper. It’s easy to blame Figs for first goal but I didn’t see Joel telling him to get rid and the way he tried to clear it was lazy. The second went straight through him and he flaps a fair bit at shots straight at him as could be seen yesterday. I would agree his distribution appears better but he ain’t as good a shot stopper as Ali from what I have seen.
I too would get Ali back in. Robles looks dodgier by the week. Awful first goal and weak second. Didnt have a blinder at West Ham either.
Aye. Kick on with no money. Is kicking on not getting to biggest final in our history and getting into Europe. Would a 12th place finish beat that? Not for me it wouldn’t.
Heard a few Wiganers are saving their money for the Charity Shield!
Not sure how convincing it is for other Chairmans to see us flirting with relegation every year with this so called wonder Manager but i presume its Robertos overall demeanour and ‘style’ of football that has other clubs drooling come Summer. Though an FA cup final and Europe looks impressive we have actually only had to beat one Premier League team to get there (asimpressive as that one victory was). Do the likes of Norwich and Swansea have a much bigger budget?
Aye. Bloody rubbish Scharner. That’s the second time we have lost in the eleven games since you came back. First Liverpool now the bloody champions on their ground. And you have helped us get to Wembley conceding one goal in the three ties you have played in. Bugger off back to Germany!
Scharners has been one of our best performers over the last two months. Just didnt take our chances am afraid and hot punished. The liability that is Di Santo always let’s us down. Decent striker would have buried that with his left. And tonight I have to say Kone was pretty awful around the box (though given his recent match winning performances am sure he can be forgiven). Would still say tonight has gone better than I expected. Some great play, a morale boost ahead of final which should help us kick on for the run in. We need to ensure we keep Villa within (3 points of) our sight before we send em down last match! Get em home, get their feet up and get em fired up for Saturday.
It’s based on UEFA coefficients which means country so we will likely be seeded. Belarus anyone?
Win and we go straight in group stage. Lose and it’s third qualifier on August 1st and 8th followed by play off to get in groups. Bring it on!
Geez Garswood you’re keen for a game! I played in unibond league for years and thoughts of going to watch a game now at that level fill me with dread!
It’s not that big a novelty. Have seen Latics four times there already. Only difference this time is there’s nowt to win but a trip to return 4 weeks later! Why any Latics fans would be arsed about attendances is beyond me. Have spent years sitting in empty away ends from Port Vale in the 4th division to Arsenal in the Prem. Playing some tinpot London club whose reputation only revolves around violence and racism is hardly that big a deal. We will sell out if we get to Final for all those obsessed with support!
And You Mr Tipperary can talk all you want about one off costs but I have 4 young boys to take down at the cost of £210 simply for tickets. This will likely be double for the final. Im lucky i can pay it but for many it may be a summer holiday or two trips to Wembley. All to watch a load of overpaid blokes who complain about playing more than 90 minutes a week!
