Please enlighten me and tell me:

      How much should DW spend?
      Who should he buy?
How much should he invest with no return?
      What is your current occupation?

I look forward to your answers.

      1. Cant spend anything now
      2. Cant buy anybody
      3. Nothing at all, cant invest a bean now.
      4. Chemical Engineer

There you go, hope you enjoyed my answers.

        Mate,

The Promotion team of Bullard, Roberts, etc would tonk this lot 5-0.

Kavanagh would rule the midfield, and I reckon Teale would rip Figueroa to pieces. Little Alan Mahon would be taking the mick, and Jackson and De Zeeuw would have a stroll against our ahem ‘dangermen’ upfront.

Honest to god, when you look at it like that, doesn’t it concern you? Because it does me. Greatly.

How ironic would it be, come May, at our final home game versus Hull, if Bullard played, ran the show….and scored the goal that relegated us? A long shot, but not impossible is it?

Well Baines has put one nail in the coffin. Valencia has put another nail in the coffin. What odds, Roberts to score the winner against Balckburn, Palacios to run the midfield against Spurs and Cattermole to rule the midfield when we play Sunderland. Just to make it fair, Michael Brown scores winner against Pompey.

To be honest im just saying what I feel like doing, ive watched Wigan since 74 and even though I may want to, I would never be able to leave. I cant remember being so dissapointed, all the money received for our best players and were left in the lurch. What I could never do is turn my back on Latics, but what I can do is make Whelan aware im unhappy at being conned, lied to and the lack of investment. If the chanting for Whelans head does ever start, you will spot me straight away because I will be the loudest. ;)

Didn’t Tuncay and Huth play regular first team football last year for a team that got relegated. FFS!!

Thats a cracker jrfatfan. Didnt Heskey play regular first team football for a club that was relegated? Didnt Palacios play regular first team football for a club that was relegated?

If they had any good players to start with, they may have been bought!!

Tuncay is a class act but Huth and the other guy? Are you serious??

Also Bobbyswigan – Are you Parakeet in disguise?

They wasnt bought, they didnt receive £50m in transfer fees yet could still invest.
Believe what you want any way, if youre happy with our team youre obviously very easy to please.

Its called investment. What do you think Stoke should do, sell all their players and raid Swansea and Spain for cheap replacements? Stoke had a decent first season and are adding quality to improve, something we have never done since entering this division.

FOR CHRIST SAKE, THE MONEY THESE GUYS ARE ON THEY SHOULD BE GIVING 100% EVERY GAME NO MATTER WHAT. I WOULD GET THE SACK IF I PREFORMED AT WORK LIKE THAT.

But if all your customers (internal or external) booed you everytime you made a mistake you soon be a nervous bloody wreck. Whether you are on £1 an hour or £1,000 an hour, we are all human at the end of the day.[/quote]

Yes, but would you expect an apprentice to carry out the work of a fully qualified member of staff? I always try to explain this, but somehow people dont understand. It is the job of the players to get the crowd going. It is the job of the players to excite the crowd. It isnt the job of those paying for tickets to excite the players. The stadium nicknamed ‘the theatre of silence’, who plays there and how successful are they?

In the Guardian report it states that the wages at Wigan Athletic as proportion of turnover is 89%.

That as a business is unsustainable.

It also says we pay higher wages than Sunderland. Think that says it all dont you?

Its pretty obvious that you’ve got a problem with Whelan but this is fast becoming the ramblings of an obsessive.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but your letting your hatred of all things Whelan cloud your judgement. Im probably wasting my time even bothering to reply to that post but for my own interest i will.

                            1) “The Great Business Man” – you’re obviously being sarky, i might not like the man but he’s done far more than I, or dare i say you have ever done in a business sense.

                            2) Wigan Athletic in the Premiership are a great investment – to who exactly?? Im not being funny but if you were to rank the 20 Premier League teams in order of preference for a takeover I think we’d be at the bottom of the list. If big clubs like Everton cant attract investment what sort of chance have we got??

                            3) A guaranteed £40m income? – you do realise that this income which is then spent on running the club?? The vast majority (89% last year) goes on paying the wages and then remainder goes towards transfers, agents fees, training ground, admin salaries etc. You dont seriously think DW banks a check for £40m every August do you and thinks, “there we go, another £40m for me”.

                            4) If we’d kept the team together we would have made the top 6 – seriously that is absolute fantasy land, not a chance. Exactly who of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton & Villa would we have finished above??? We were at best a higher mid table side last year, the fact we had a good run immediately pre January somehow convinced people we were European contenders

As for all the other posts, its just more of the same. The only thing thats a “laughing stock” about the club are the hysterical posters on here who react to things as though the world has ended. Im just glad we didnt have the internet when i was watching Kenny Swain’s team, the place would have gone off the scale.

Rant over, its made me feel better anyway!!

) If we’d kept the team together we would have made the top 6 – seriously that is absolute fantasy land, not a chance.

So you think we couldnt have managed 7 more points and qualified for Europe with the players we let go? You mention £40m being spent on wages and then remainder goes towards transfers, agents fees, training ground and admin salaries. So what does advertising, attendancies, sponsorship, Catering, Thugby rent, kit and memorobilia sales, etc get spent on How about weddings and events at stadium, what does that get spent on? When were shown on tv, what does the £1/4m get spent on? When we finish 11th and get £5m prize money, what does that get spent on? When you reach the Carling cup final, what does the £4m get spent on? When you sell three players for £40m, what does that get spent on? Yes, were so lucky to have Dave, dont know what we would do bout him.

If Dave Whelan is this great business man who made himself a multi millionaire why can’t he realise by investing his money in the club and not letting the better players leave (all under contract) he would push us up the Premiership battling for a uefa cup spot and get all the fans excited about the games again. Wigan Athletic in the Premiership are a great investment, probably the lowest wage bill in the league, a new club with possibilities and a guaranteed £40m before league position, prize money, tv money, league placement money, advertisements and sponsorship, it would sell easily. If we are relegated, all that will change.
Rather than just dive in and accept whats on offer, if we had added a couple of quality signings to our team January last year and kept hold of who we had, we would have made the top six. We were right on course before Whelan ruined the team. If we had indeed finished sixth, would Bruce have walked out on a chairman who was backing him and a club in Europe?
