If Huws ends up staying I think he will be the perfect replacement and we don’t need to go out and buy anyone.
I don’t think Caldwell would go near him.

Watched this in the Marquee last night – Whilst I agree that was a good point in the circumstances, if Milwall had any decent strikers or had taken their chances, this could easily have been a serious whitewash – we lacked any pace from the off, kept giving the ball away, couldn’t find our men and looked lethargic. Still, a great point nevertheless. Oh and ref was absolute shite.

Thought it was one of his poorer games yesterday, yes ran around a lot as usual, but gave away the ball a lot more than usual and a lot of his short balls never found their man, lost a few tackles that he would normally of won. Doesn’t take away my overall opinion of him though that he is normally reliable, solid and 101% committed.
Jacobs for me didn’t do anything yesterday, James needs to do more when he cuts inside, an needs to use his right peg more – gets forward a lot but absolutely no end product, and ends up scampering back. Needs more confidence.
Every time Morgan got on the ball by heart rate increases ten fold, for a captain I don’t see him doing any shouting or organising, thought Perkins would be a much better choice IMO
Power seems to be coming on more an more every game, and does do a lot of shouting and organising, looks like a great prospect we have.
Donovan, prefer him at RWB, gives us a bit down the right hand side.
Good to see McCann has a licence to roam from the back through the midfield at times, just need to make more of those opportunities and chances when he does go forward.
Grigg – Now he is one player I just don’t know about yet. Yesterday he was on the floor more times than off it. Seems to be a bit lazy, doesn’t put enough pressure on defenders, seems to jog around rather than get stuck in. Still, if he can score the goals that get us promotion, I suppose that’s a good trade-off. Still expect a lot more from him though.
So that’s my thoughts anyway, on both yesterday and in general. Very happy with the progression we are making, especially the fight and desire to get a goal until the 96th minute
Keep it up lads.If you’d have seen the way the players celebrated after scoring the winner … they were ecstatic, looked so happy and passionate – haven’t seen that in a latics team for a while now, whole team looking together.
Not getting carried away by far, but happy so far with the progress in such a short time.
Tell you what I’ve noticed, but is to be expected really, is that now it only takes me 20 mins to get to the ground from Haydock.
Past seasons I’ve got there quite early anyway and had a beer in the concourse to get in match mood, but this season im going straight to my seat as there’s no real feel or atmosphere down there.
I suppose its to be expected really, maybe when we climb higher in the table and are chasing for promotion things will change.

The difficulty is, if the manager wants the players to play like this, then they will do .. or be dropped. For me, Im quite prepared to give him more time to make adjustments, maybe another signing or two, and let the players gel more, but I do think in this division that perhaps possession based football isn’t the best tactic, and we need to play more positively – game plan seems to be focussed on not letting the opposition get the ball and score .. nothing wrong with that, we just need to add the part where we actually have to score as well, and when we do .. go for more
