You can’t blame the FA cup on the way we played against an out of form Swansea side + without Michu and a 10 man QPR.

I would have sooner took a chance on a fit Golobart against Swansea over a hip injured and couldn’t run Caldwell, crazy.

Oh on the Everton thing, Whelan said that there would be a meeting with Martinez straight after the Villa game and a decision to stay or leave would be made there and then.
So right now Whelan will know if he’s stopping or going and considering he can’t hold his own pish then if he has decided to stay wouldn’t it be a good time to announce he’s stopping before tonight’s parade ???

H’es gone, Whelan knows that but both don’t want to put any kind of dampener on today’s events.

Me personally I think he’s won us the cup which I and many others will thank till the day I die but as for turn your back while your down ?? that I don’t think is right.

If you feckin break something at least have the decency to try and fix it not dump it on the scrapper, walk away then more than likely come back and clean it out.
Hypothetical question, What would your thought’s be of him without the FA cup win ?
Take the Malaga job and save face I say.

What Whelan needs to do regardless who’s manager come the 3rd of August is to stand firm on the sale of players and only sell when daft money appears on the table.
We have a couple of players I’m sure that other managers and possibly Martinez would love to take with him if he does decide to leave i.e. McCarthy, MacManaman, Maloney and its up to Whelan to fend them off.

It takes a a particular type of player to get out of the championship, different from the type of player you need to stay in the Prem , horses for courses.

Steve “mynosekeepschangingshape” Bruce has just cleared 12 out to make room. We could be potentially looking at 12-15 players coming in !, Ijust hope it’s none of them ffs.

this is going to be a tough tough season for whoever takes the job on.

Lukaku – 20 yrs of age, on loan, 32 League appearances, 14 goals
              7 assists,

Henriquez 19 yrs of age, on loan 4 league appearances, 1 goal 0 assists.

And even when Kone was away in Jan he still wasn’t used. So who do you blame for that ?

The way we used our 2 loan players throughout the season will no doubt make it even harder next season to get loan players in at a time we will need them the most. The bigger clubs will think twice before sending out any of their young talent to Wigan.
The Idea is , loan them out to get experience and on the pitch playing time not bench warm.

Loan players need to be, on par or if not better than the players we already have. This is the only way we will improve our squad or we might as well not bother and just bring through our own talent as we did with MacManaman and the likes of Redmond.

He won us the FA cup which I dearly thank but all managers are held responsible for were their club end up at the end of a season.
He should have the decency to give us one more season to rectify the feck up and announced it like Jewell did before the Sheff Utd game.

And please no more blame on injuries , if the squad isn’t strong enough after 4 years then he is to blame for the quality of that.

I am an Evertonian who has decided that he is not going to pay £50 plus to watch at pitch level stuck in a corner at Chelski.

I wanted to come to watch Latics however it seems impossible to get a ticket because I dont have a previous customer relationship. As usual the Wigan ticket office blame the GMP.

                  Can someone help me out?

now are you sure your not from the midlands ?, pay the £50 you tight harse git we don’t need you.

I see Fat head at Hull got rid of 12 players this morn. He used players for one purpose only , to get back up.

Wit till the Chairman see’s he’s list of targets ! He’ll crap his pants.

or Graham Jones ? (with a good assistant) at least he knows the club and has an affection with Wigan and understands the club and it’s fans.

Recent ex player for me. We don’t need to be taught how to play we need bringing together and kept that way,
                        Gary Neville,
                        Jamie Carragher,
                        etc

or Graham Jones ? (with a good assistant) at least he knows the club and has an affection with Wigan and understands the club and it’s fans.

I will hacve to disagree on that. the table proves no one can hold any kind of form. you string 4-5 wins together and you can go top.

Palace only won 2 for 10 and made play-offs while Watford lost 6 from the last 10 and the rest up there didn’t fair too well.

Remember ? alot of the usual suspects are still there 2005/2006 season:-

on paper probably harder that year. The striking difference and change needed from that year is , we were the 2nd top goal scorers and conceded the least amount of goals.

11-1 is amazing value and given odds on other teams i cant understand bookies logic. We have more assets in our current squad than any other chamoionship team with approximately 30 million quids worth of talent potentially for sale. Add parachute payments and money from UEFA and price looks a bargain to me.

UEFA might well end up costing us money, not making money.[/quote]

Not often ( well never) but I’ve gotta agree with you there Griff. I looked at the teams that are likely to hit the group stages and out the 17 teams 10 will come from the champions league group stage losers.
Roma or Lazio at the DW ??? Jesus wept !! Whelan will no doubt be doing a “Spag Boll Pie”

There’s no doubt clubs will come in for him. If he decides to move on I just hope were ever he goes they’ve got plenty toilet roll at hand.

The expansive way he likes his football takes some getting use to. And will he get the time he’s had at Wigan ?. Well when his system works it’s excellent to be a part of, but when it fails it’s like piles , very painful to sit there.

Everton to me would be a grave mistake, they would need some serious rebuilding as there’s no doubt Moyes will poach and what’s left are either too old or just not good enough.

All this takes money and time , something Everton don’t have and won’t give.

The Newcastle fans are seemingly loving our relegation. I gladly pointed out to one on a forum that , we might have empty seats at games, similar to their Trophy cabinet ;)
