That 82 world cup sticks in my mind due to collecting panini stickers for the book you get from newsagents I think that is when the WC became commercialised ie FIFA started coining it in

I remember collecting world cup 78 stickers, but 82 was the first real Panini world cup, on a slightly different not did you see you can now make your own albums up and sticker design…. I do admit to collecting them for my lad this year :)

Loved the 1990 world cup for obvious reasons, but I think we have been 20 years worse off because of the expectations of that tournament gave us.

I copied this lot off Partick Thistles facebook page, it seems the fans opinion of this lad is totally opposite of what the Cardiff fans posted about Andrew Taylor.

Ian Mackinnon Great servant to the club who deserves his move. Glad he didn’t go to another Scottish team
Ross MacArthur He will be back once he realises he will be starting alongside Gary caldwell!
Tom Hogg That goal at Rugby Park…
Grant Bell Best wishes. Always gave 100% to the cause. Delighted he’s moving to a higher standard.
Steve Tomlinson Leaving the right way. Good luck to ATS down south.
Paul Maher All the best !! Sorry to see him go!
Barry Mclelland All the best Aaron. A fantastic young player.
Raymond Stark Been a pleasure watching him develop into a top player.
Gareth Shields Going to be difficult, very difficult to replace.
Paul Finlay All the best ATS
Paul Black Good luck ATS.. a great servant to the club just a shame we never got a fee for helping you develop as a player. Look forward to seeing you on The Football League show
Len Hoover Thanks for everything, Aaron! When you become a huge international success, tell everyone how big a part Thistle played! (and if God forbid the opposite happens, say it was Montrose’s fault).
Scotty Magoo Good luck to him, glad he won’t be playing against us and hopefully see him in a Scotland jersey one day.
Jim Clarke Great player, great guy, great servant.
Austin Purdie All the best big man!
Ronnie Farlow Best attacking left back we’ve had since….well since The days of Archie flying down the left wing!!
CJ O’Hara All the best, Aaron. Hope you do great at Wigan because you were great for us!
Sheila Elliott Good luck son you’ll do great take care xx
Stephen Frew Is it wrong to hope it doesn’t work out perfectly and he has to come to back to Thistle with a second preference of he’s dynamite and ends up with an international career and a crack at the EPL?
Callum John/William Stewart Fair play mate. Well done
Ross Thomson Great move for a player who was playing for Montrose only 3 years ago.
David Steele A great player and a gent to talk to. Really pleased and wish him well.
Ian Warren All the best ATS, hope it all works out for you
Mike Law Hope he does well!
Scott McGinnis All the best fella. Hope it all works out for you. Hope we see you in a Scotland shirt before too long.
Callum Maclean Good luck to him!
Chris Kerr all the best ATS, will be
Ross MacArthur He will be back once he realises he will be starting alongside Gary caldwell!

Second comment from the top ( Ross MacArthur) He will be back once he realises he will be starting alongside Gary caldwell!

Another fan of our GREAT LEADER !

He comes from a poor club in the poorest of SPL leagues ever. The players doesn’t come onto the radar for my Scottish friends, so don’t hold out much hope for him. Maybe one for the future, but at 23 !!!

Tell me I wasn’t right about Fattie Fvvie !

    in reply to: Interesting #131509

Will see Use’s appetite to stay this summer and build a legacy, but I think Chairman Dave’s war chest (first mention this summer !) will be the key for me. We can’t sniff around loans and cheap Scottish left backs for me…

in reply to: Financial Fair Play #131495

The whole fair play system is a joke and I would be surprised if they would be able to uphold such a large fine. I suspect it will be reduced with a suspended amount.

Glad they went down after Butcher jumped ship

Quite probably one of the funniest relegations in Scottish Football History, given their run in the last 6 games or so.

Been a long time coming for Scottish Football to get its house in order, with Hearts and Hibs being relegated along with Rangers this should sort out their finances.

Personally I thought Collison was woeful in his time here.

I don’t believe you are alone in that thought ! He looks like he wasn’t interested.

We need players hungry for the shirt, club and success. Trust Uwe

    in reply to: Fortune #130836
At least we know Fortune is going to have a bad game, we don’t expect it from Maloney, Macmanaman, McCarthur, Perch, Beau [well maybe] I could go on, but the only one’s to come out with any credit tonight were Carson, Caldwell, Kiernan, Boyce and Gomez.

Guess what boys and girls, it was Rosler who picked Fortune over Waghorn and Maynard, shouldn’t he be getting the stick?.

Yes Fortune was shyte tonight, but so were a few others.

QPR done a good job on us tonight, it weren’t pretty, it weren’t edge of yer seat stuff, it was a bloody good job! :(

We are still in the tie and wouldn’t surprise me if we did um at their place.

We just have to make sure that we do a job on um, Uwe over to you son.

Honestly do you think McArthur had a bad game? Must be a wind up.

in reply to: Play Off Final #130530

I imagine it would allow the Tinkerman to rotate the squad between halves then !

in reply to: Nick Powell: Hero to Zero #130529

If the rumours of a night out and fine are correct, I cant see either playing a part in the end of season run in. With Espinoza and Maloney back they probably wont get a sniff anyway.

However that said, 5 mins left in a playoff final needing to score I would rather Powell was on our side than someone elses.

    in reply to: Griff #130390

We seem to be troubled by teams who are in our faces and the energy to close down our midfield. Teams that sit back or lose a goal against us early struggle.

This doesn’t look good for the playoffs, either getting in them or getting through them.

in reply to: We could bottle this. #130389

Problem with staying in this division is that the Prem money will run out, the better quality players will leave and you are hoping that we can build a promotion team. Which a number of clubs are doing, so it will become harder the more teams that drop down from the premiership.

If we don’t get that win we don’t deserve to go up.

    in reply to: Penalty #130334

To make sure we have other players with live penalty experience in a game. Am sure I can think of a recent game where penalties cost us.

Poor performance but we have it well in our hands to get into the playoffs, where we might need penalty experience !

in reply to: Blackpool up for it #130175
Has Whelan ever done anything like that?

I imagine if he did that then people would complain that the tickets came without a free drink with them.

in reply to: Bye Bye Moysie, Moysie Bye Bye #130160
Should have been given more time IMO. It took fergie 4 seasons before he started winning things, but i suppose this is the sad reflection of modern football.

Or you could look at it that the owners of Man Utd couldnt afford to let Man U continue the decline in revenue that Moyes will cost them for more than 1 season.

Moyes was the wrong man, pretty much everyone knew it. The deluded Man u board and Fans actually believed in Ferguson is the only shock.

Pity he has gone as Man Utd this season has made everyone smile.

in reply to: Will it all end in tears !!! #129934

Will be a good test if Uwe wants to take us up this year !

Why would he not want that?[/quote]

    Ask him.
