Coyle…can’t be any worse than the last 4 seasons.
Really?
Coyle’s Premier League record at Bolton was in fact no better than Martinez’ at Wigan. He found it just as difficult as Roberto;
Coyle 2011/12 18 Bolton Wanderers (R) 38 10 6 22 46 77 −31 36
Martinez 2012/13 18 Wigan Athletic (R) 38 9 9 20 47 73 –26 36At least Coyle can say he has had recent experience of the Championship, but don’t expect miracles.
You rate Martinez don’t you ! :)
When you have the likes of shite like Mumford And Sons playing there is no reason to even consider packing your tent surely ! Corporate, green welly wearing, commercial piss poor shindig !
I take it you couldn’t get a ticket then?
I’d be mad if I found one !

All hot air from anti Bolton fans that’s all ! I doubt very much that he will get the same treatment as Benitez did at Chelsea with the booing, banners and shit ! Those joy boys from down that there London ended up with egg on their faces in my opinion ! I am looking forward to a new challenge in a different division under a fresh manager ( Something I have wanted for a while ! ) It’s gonna be a good season but remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day ! I’m loving this Lightside malarky, I feel like a new man ( No obvious puns please ! )
Quote from Salford.
“He now has a month and a half to put together a team capable of winning the championship, progressing through europa whilst also having a respectable campaign defending our FA CUP.”
Well Salford, DW has stated that the Europa Cup is in no way a priority and also that he doesn’t expect us to go up this season but would like to within 2 seasons ! Who wins the FA Cup and then regards the following season’s competition as defending said cup ? You defend titles in sports but not cups ! I have heard sides classed as current holders but never defending champions !
Sorry Phil I don’t understand what you are asking me?
Or are you just nitpicking about my wording of having a respectable FA cup campaign?
Where has he said he doesn’t expect us to go up this season?
I as a supporter would love to win the Europa cup for obvious reasons but Whelan wants to get back in the PL for obvious reasons and rightly so.
I can sit here fantasizing where as Whelan has a job to do.
And a bloody good job he does!
They don’t like it up em Mr Mainwaring ! ha ha ha
Also a snippet from Guardian but DW has said the same in every interview since he employed Coyle !“The priority is getting back to the Premier League,” added Whelan. “Europe is not the priority and while we are proud to represent England in that European league, it is not our priority. Getting back to the Premier League over two years is [the priority] and it may take that time.”
It is a well known fallacy !

The only source I’ve seen for this by the way is BBC. Anyone seen any other confirmation?http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wigan-appoint-owen-coyle-next-1952337
All academic now ! Good to see DW coming to his senses ! Prem here we come !
I had an investment at 16’s on Robinson and certainly wouldn’t exclude him from the race just yet.
Hope you didn’t waste to much.
TOO !!
Have you ever owned a smart phone with predictive text?
Wait for your latest series of insults.
Salford beat me to(o) it  does that make you a LIAR?
No, go on the attack as much as you like, it does not hide the fact that both YOU and I know you got caught out telling porkies.
Ha Ha you are just a pathetic bully boy who can dish it out but can’t take. The point has been made now so I will just go back to ignoring you.
PS I think the word is Touche’
Forgive me for being pedantic Thowd Un but Touché has an acute accent! ;)
I don’t accept coppers ! I tell them that if it has come to coppering up then they can keep them as they probably need them more than I do ! Any shortfalls are however added to the next clean ! :)
Talking of coppering up, do you fancy saving your pennies for this: http://www.indietracks.co.uk/%5B/quote%5D
I have a few weekends away strategically booked and what with my week in Austin I don’t think that Shona would be too pleased with yet another disappearing act ! Remind Nicola to phone her re ‘Tropic’ ;)
I’ll remind her tonight. A couple of her mates are showing an interest too.
Cheers ! ;)
Re Henriquez jibe, I just thought that at a time when we needed points he could have been utilised because the the other options were not really firing on all 4 cylinders ! Having Cleverley on loan clearly aided his development ( We will have to watch this space re Robles )and I hope that Utd will offer him to us again but this time with the promise of some match time and with Coyle’s previous help with the aforementioned duo it could just sway them ! The more I think about Coyle stepping up to the plate, the more I like the idea ! :)
He certainly got Burnley promoted and had them playing decent football.
The only thing that puts me off him is the criticism he gets from some of my Bolton supporting mates.
I’d still have him over Bruce.
I think he would have us playing decent flowing and attack minded football whereas McClaren can be quite defensive minded at times to the point of ennui ! :(
Not my choice particularly but he has a track record of success in the Championship. If he lands the job in competition with other big names then he’ll do for me. There must be something to him.
But as I posted elsewhere – how does he now become bookie’s favourite? Interviews are ongoing. If DW was touting someone outside of an interview process then rumour may have some basis. But we are in an interview process – all would appear from the outside to have an equal chance. It depends how they do at interview. This is all bookie/press speculation to counter DW’s unusually keeping this close to his chest.
Uncle Dave has a mate who is a bookie ( well an insider ) remember ! ;)
Well in Coyle’s defense, unlike Martinez, ( Think Henriquez ) he took 2 young lads on loan and in my opinion helped them massively to develop by giving them much needed playing time. 2009-2010 season saw Jack Wilshere join Bolton on loan and the following season saw Daniel Sturridge join them on loan ! Also, Coyle is not a hoof ball merchant, if anything he likes his sides to actually play football. Ironically like Martinez, he didn’t really have the players to pull it off ! He has taken a side from the Championship to the Prem and so he has the knowhow and for me would be an ideal candidate ! Sometimes we make hasty decisions based on how our hearts feel but when you let your head take over and just sit back and think for a while, things do become more lucid ! Get him signed Uncle Dave !
Yes but also think Cleverley and Robles!
I’d prefer Mclaren out of him and Coyle, but I’m still hoping for Rene Meulensteen.
