Let’s not bring rugby into this eh! What I want to know is why was their following 4700 yet the stand was full to the hilt? No meshing or dolled off seats just a rammed to capacity stand that I thought held more than 5000? ES1 isn’t dolled off anymore either I noticed yesterday because we went up there for the second half!
It’s not ‘That’ long back and I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it but with North End due at ours on Saturday, I still have very fond memories of that 5-0 drubbing we handed out to them 12 years ago :) The last minute winner in the cup on their next visit wasn’t too shabby either! ;)
The £7m we received for Wildschutt means the lack of parachute payments next year wont hit us as hard.
We still need to be very careful.
As I understand it about £3 million of that is performance related, and the way Norwich are going may not be triggered, and we also owe Middlesbrough a sell-on fee. Add to that the fact that despite what a lot of people believe, most transfer fees are paid in instalments, we haven’t suddenly got a £7 million cheque in the bank.
This is why transfer fees are rarely disclosed, as the actual amounts are very difficult to calculate.
That’s not a very positive reply! ;)
It’s OK, Phil.
I’m going for a full hand tonight :)
Ooh Matron!

Oh God. When you have to explain.
Everyone has been going on (on various social media) about us needing to play 4-4-2. I have constantly argued that we are in fact playing 4-5-1, even when we play both Bogle and Grigg.
I was now being sarcastic that “playing two up front” (joking – hence the quotes), even though we aren’t, has led to us winning. Oh no, it hasn’t. As our goal came from a centre back.
It was a simple sideswipe at the 4-4-2 brigade that has now completely lost its intended point. :(Shit when you have to explain a sarcastic comment ain’t it! :)
I reckon about 47 points would be enough to survive and so therefore from our remaining 16 games even if we lost 7 of them, 6 wins and 3 draws would be enough, surely that is do-able right?
I still have a semblance of positivity but it wanes on a weekly basis !I was fairly upbeat and positive when WJ was appointed our manager but now all that has gone and his obstinance has got a déjà vu feel to it!
Shipped 5 goals in 2 games, time for a change at the back me thinks!
I would also drop Burn and put Bruce in for experience.
You for real ???, he had a stormer. Last ditch tackles are all apart of a defender’s game. The tackle he made in the box when chasing back a one on one was top draw and the one on the dead ball line skinned him and came away with it. What game were you watching ??.
If we can add a little bit of width even on one side I can see goals.
That second half was exactly what Wigan fans, want to see regardless of the result, players giving it 100% and we could have nicked at the death.
Bogle is a breath of fresh air and like Heskey he’s not scared to drop back in and do some defending duties when needed.
I would sooner go down trying and drawing 2-2 or losing 3-2 with 2 up front as opposed to 0-0 draws 1-0 losses with 1 up front.
Bruce is a far better centre half than Burn with nigh on 50 games worth of Premier League football as opposed to just 9 with Burn. As for the last ditch tackles, what I meant was they are usually tackles that redeem him from an initial mistake that wouldn’t have been called for had he read the game better in the first place! Yeah he has his moments of brilliance ( Don’t most footballers? ) but on the whole the lad is calamitous, almost ‘Bramblesque’ and I feel that Bruce is a far better proposition at this present time.
All defenders make mistakes, for me it’s the hardest position on the field. While a forward can miss 10 efforts then redeem himself with goal and become the hero a defender can make 50 tackles in a game then one slip and he’s the bad guy.
Like I said , all defenders make mistakes, what makes a good one from a bad one is he can redeem it.
Please name me a defender who doesn’t make mistakes and if you do he’ll be in the 40-50 million bracket. And if you think Bruce wont then …… The worse the team the more pressure is put on defenders and more mistakes are made. This doesn’t make them bad defenders,,,, fook me Leicester won a championship with Kante saving the day or they’d have be near the bottom like they are this season.
Most people will tell you that Burn is an accident waiting to happen, he is a liability who has me with my heart in my mouth many times!
My man of the match was Bogle who ran his socks off, tracked back ( he was even in our box at one point heading clear! ) played off the last man brilliantly and made some great runs, the lad has vision for sure. Oh yeah and he bagged a brace on his full debut which saved our bacon! Whether he can be our saviour is another thing but the lad is a welcome breath of fresh air to the club!
As for 2 strikers on the field and playing with more positivity, I think you would find it hard to come across many who would disagree that by bringing Grigg on and keeping Bogle on we definitely looked a better side!I would also drop Burn and put Bruce in for experience.

2-0 Norwich, Jerome brace!
Obertan’s career has been blighted by injury after injury so don’t be holding out too much hope on him being our saviour!
Oh there’s the odd carp in the Yarrow too!
I didn’t say you could reply or post another comment, so why comment? How dare you reply without me saying so.
Be careful Don.
Good choice Don. Hide.
