I don’t think anyone has said it was bad luck, have they?

Maybe other people just have a different view to you?
I don’t read anyone here saying that we are in a good place – we all know that we are in big trouble.
But how to change that is a reasonable subject for reasonable debate.
And as an aside – yes, I am “pro club”. Would you prefer that we all were against the club? I think you mean “pro-current management set-up”. That is what it is, and shouting loudly on this group isn’t going to affect the owners one tiny bit.
We are all supporters, and we all want the best for the club. At best probably we should be 6-8 places higher in the table, for a true reflection of the status of the club, the players we have, and the way we have played. That’s just 9 points. It is a game of fine margins, and if in the New Year we start picking up points we’ll be fine. That’s the optimist in me.
If we don’t we’ll be in League One again. But I’ll still be in my seat, as I was the last two times we were there. That’s the pragmatist.

    Will Grigg…fans favourite…dropped…sold.

    Max Power…fans favourite…dropped…sold.

    Dan Burn…fans favourite…dropped…sold.

    Joe Gelhardt…fans big hope…dropped…?

Is this all coincidental, or does Cook seriously not like any player who becomes the pinnacle of attention? It seems so.

Is Paul Cook the David Brent of football managers?

It is well reported that we had no wish whatsoever to sell Will Grigg, and his absence followed time out with an injury, and also he wasn’t banging the goals in at Championship level. Ultimately Sunderland offered silly money for him.

Max Power signed a three year contract in July 2015 and signed for Sunderland as a free agent in August 2018. He played 40 League games in 2017-2018, so hadn’t been dropped.

Dan Burn signed for Brighton but was then loaned back to us. It again was well reported that he wanted a chance at Premier League football, which he is now enjoying. I don’t think that letting a player go, who was 3 years into a 4 year contract but was loaned back to us for 6 months, to play at a higher level is unreasonable.

Thought Stanley Choi is taking over as sole-owner?

That is the plan, because that has been declared to the HKSE.
But at the moment it is a public limited liability company whose shares are listed.

We are owned by IEC who are a listed company, so anyone can be a shareholder. You just buy one or more, if you really feel you want to be part of things.
It doesn’t mean they get to know everything the owners are going to do.
In fact such information would be price sensitive and sharing it (no pun intended) would be a criminal offence.
I have shares in Lloyds TSB (only a few). I would love the board to share with me information of how they are doing, or what their plans are.
I’m afraid that someone being a shareholder, if they are (and I am sure they may have told you that), means they have no more idea what is going on than you or I do.

I haven’t been one to have a go at the management, but you NEVER make a substitution when you are defending a corner or free kick in your own box! This is basic management stuff, and it seems when the players do nothing wrong, the management have to make a mess instead!

That’s the problem with the sub yes not the actual sub itself[/quote]

    To some extent.
It wasn’t at all Dunkley’s fault, but if you take off Jacobs the replace him like for like, Roberts probably.
Then leave him upfield to take away some Derby players.
Leave the defensive unit intact that has dealt with everything all afternoon.
Putting another centre back into the mix when defending a corner in the last seconds leaves everyone wondering what their role is. Who was marking whom, or which area, whatever system you are using.
    No-one knows, and confusion reigns.
And we know what that led to.

He would get some management experience on his CV

I think he’s already got that in a couple of weeks at a much higher level

For me Kipre seemed to be playing further forward

    I think we did OK.
Worked hard, got a lucky break with the goal but looked threatening, but never quite got that finishing touch and conceded a very well-taken goal.
Could have gone either way in teh last few minutes, but we got a point. Could have been three, could have been none.
For me a point at home at this stage is not enough, but hey-ho.

To be fair when we played tiki taki under Roberto and sometime afterwards my (our?) big complaint was that we got caught in possession or were too slow to get the ball upfield, and I remember distinctly saying that we need to know when to hoof it upfield.
Obviously my memory must be faulty, as no-one else here seems to be able to remember what they said in the past.

I think that shows clearly how disappointing this season has been.
We were all so optimistic and across the board most thought we had done good business.
Even those who now say “I don’t know why we bought X, Y or Z”
