I see he’s been offered a new five year contract.

Obviously missing out on Champions League football isn’t such a big deal afer all.

Don’t be fooled by that, contracts mean Jack shyte in the scheme of things. I think this move by Everton just emphasises what an utter idiot BK is.

A poor couple of seasons and he may be left with either keeping Martinez or paying out a huge amount of compen.
Which applies to all managers, everywhere. Including Rosler. I’m thinking of opening a book on when we all turn on him and suddenly decide he’s not the daschund’s nuts

I am sorry to hijack this thread slightly and I don’t want to take anything away from this competition as its in a good cause and you can also win a bob or two, but if anyone wants to take part in a standard prediction comp we are doing one over on Vital as well if anyone would like to join in.

It is free to enter, you just predict the games outcome every day, if you predict a correct result ie draw or s win for the team you choose you get 2 points, a correct score gets an additional 5 point bonus, we will play this during the group stages as a straight forward league, the top 16 will qualify for the knockout stage where a draw will be made and you play directly against one other in straight knock out all the way to the final.

We have a ‘trophy’ for the winner and a few other prizes, if griff or Standish enters they have the chance to win a copy of their own book ‘Arsed’ which is one of the prizes.

Just been over to VL to look at the prizes and think that’s a bit mean. 3rd prize is a copy of Arsed and 4th prize is 2 copies of Arsed.
You kill me Greavsie!

We closed our competition entry at 101 players. Thanks to those who have taken part.

Griff can I enter via email today and pay tonight as I don’t know my PayPal account details will have to get the girlfriend to do it be about 6?

    Yes, that’s fine.

It’s the predictions I need today by 5pm (obviously so I can process them before the whole thing kicks off) but I am happy to let payment slide for a day or so.

If someone enters and the doesn’t pay I can easily kick them out before we get too far in ;)

That’s a bit strange, no-one else has had an issue. I’ve emailed you a copy and the Paypal instructions.

I must have been doing something wrong I has let me save it now.
Your entry is safely logged.

    Thanks

    Entry Forms, Rules and FAQ

Chaps, I am running a prediction competition for the World Cup. I have potentially around 15-20 places available if anyone is interested. All the relevant info can be found at the above link.

Entry fee is £5 with £1 of that going to Joseph’s Goal. At press we have around 80 confirmed entrants with a prize fund of £320 and £80 going to charity.

    To enter you must:-

    a) be able to email a completed entry form to chrisgriffinsays@gmail.com
    b) make arrangements to get the £5 entry fee to me via Paypal or bank transfer…

by 5pm on Wednesday, 11th June.

Email me at chrisgriffinsays@gmail.com if you are interested and need further information.

Come on, let’s see if we can get this up to at least 100 entrants and raise £100 for this great cause.

If anybody wants to enter but can’t be arsed reading through all the blurb at this stage, or wrestling with the Excel spreadsheet like LMB ;), I can make it easier for you. All you need to do:

    1) Cut and paste the following fixture list into an email
    2) Add an H, D or A (Home, Draw, Away) at the end of each fixture
    3) send it to chrisgriffinsays@gmail.com including your real name (I won’t tell anyone!) and a contact number
    4) We can then make arrangements for you to make your £5 entry fee payment by Paypal or bank transfer

Thanks JR, and apologies for confusing you. It’s been a long day, and it isn’t even over yet!

No probs Griff as long as I’m up and running.
I never do well in these things, but the husband of a girl who works for me was in the top 10 of the daily mirror fantasy dream team all last season. There are literally hundreds of thousands of players in that and it’s top prize money.
Don’t build your hopes up! About £400 up for grabs and £100 to Joseph’s Goal

Italia ’90 – “Gazza’s boot not quite connecting with that cross”

I don’t remember that. You’re not getting it mixed up with Euro 96 where Gazza’s boot didn’t quite connect with that cross are you?

You might be right! Told you my memory was shit.

Might have been Waddles’s shot that hit the post in extra time. The again, they hit the post too, if I recall correctly. But I probably don’t. ;)

Fiji and Tonga aren’t even in it!!!!

    :)

    Or Lebanon!

in reply to: Martinez back again #131633

He loves the club does Martinez he wants us to do well ( my arse ) I wonder how his luvvies feel now he is coming back again for one of our best players, he loves the club he really does !

He’ll only sign players who want to leave or who the club want to sell.

What do expect him to say ‘Sorry Mr Football Agent / Mr Whelan, I know he’s a really good player but it’s better all round if he signs for someone else in case I upset a few of Wigan’s supporters’?

All managers come back for their former players when they move on.
And nobody forces the players to go, either.

in reply to: 29 years ago today #131620

OK, well as long as we all know where we stand.

And I actually thought you’d be man enough.

Well, I tried Arky but I guess leopards and spots, and all that.

You do know that EVERYBODY associated with Wigan Athetic who has an ounce of intelligence, and knows of you, thinks you’re an absolute lunatic, don’t you?

And those that aren’t associated just think you’re a cock.
Your opinion matters less than his.
I took that to be aimed at me mate, but thanks for taking the hit.
I wasn’t sure to be fair, but I’m happy to take it ;)

So, are we playing nicely now?
