I don’t understand what you mean JR. If the stand is open to home fans, then surely it will need manning in the stand and concourse, or is it that the lower rows of seats are being ‘netted’ off?

That’s exactly what it is, Horc. Basically, the first four or five rows at the bottom of the East and South stands, I believe. The ones that only lunatics would sit in because you get pissed wet through when it rains.

Har har de fuckin har! Still seen more live action than you though over the last 14 seasons eh! You need to knock a few years off your username !

Really? Have you been on your Bob’s mushrooms?

Firstly, how exactly do you “knock years” off a user name of ‘Griff’?

Secondly, I seem to recall you once bragging that you’d only missed 8 or so home games since we moved to the new stadium. So, that puts me those 8 in front of you in the last 14 years, plus all the JJB/DW games in the two years before that (1999-2015 is 16 years, not 14), plus the last few years at Springy (though I confess I can’t reacall if I went to all of those as well as I can the new stadium, I’m sure I misese done or two) plus all our home friendlies since 1999, and that’s before I even get on to away games.

You do know what away games are, don’t you? Mind you, if you can’t manage a full home game, it’s understandable if you can’t manage an away game.

If you get in quickly with your new seat application, I believe there’s a space next to the drummer. Hurry!

Wouldn’t it make more sense to get all the facts before we all go launching ourselves at conclusions?

The fact is I have a letter telling me that I can’t have the seat that I have sat in for the last 10 seasons! I will ring in the morning and see what alternatives they have but with fans having until June 19th to keep their seats there may not be much point in ringing! :(
Front five or so rows in East and South are affected as far as I can tell. Only a couple of hundred seats in total. Sounds like you are amongst the unlucky few affected. Can’t believe they have targeted you deliberately. But you never know! ;)

Well I sit there and here is what my letter says….

“As a consequence of our relegation to League One, we have looked at ways in which we can ensure that the matchday atmosphere is improved to assist the team to win promotion back to The Championship. One of the ideas is to reduce the number of blocks of seats available to purchase and utilise these areas in different ways.
Unfortunately your current seat is one of those that will not be available to renew. However, we are pleased to offer you any seat of your choice in the stadium ( subject to availability and excluding our executive areas ) at the price of your existing renewal. There are a number of seats in a similar location to your existing seat or you may choose a seat in a different stand at no extra cost.”

I can only assume that with my seat being in ES5 Row F that they are planning to maybe net off the first so many rows along the whole stand and utilise that space with advertising and the like! This would shove everyone back and not have the sporadic appearance that it will more than likely have next season! I am of course just summising, either way I am not too fucking happy about it!
Fancy that, you not happy.

Why don’t you offer him a compromise? Tell him he can have it for the last 12 minutes of each game. You know, the time when you’re not using it? ;)

Whelan’s countless money grabbing has totally de-stabilised the club

On the contrary, it has ensured we are financially sound.

And if you, and others, believe Whelan has “lined his pockets”, even after having read the published and audited accounts which need to pass scrutiny by the FA and League (I presume you have done this?), then you are deluded.

He’s not deluded George, he’s thick. He’s had the truth about Whelan pointed out to him umpteen times but, to paraphrase, there’s none so blind as those that can’t read.

Frankly, George, I’m surprised you bothered replying.

Said this before, a million times. If you can’t tackle, pass, or hit a cow’s arse with a banjo it matters little what formation you nominally line up in.

And there lies the problem Griff.
We haven’t had midfielder since Macarthur that can tackle, we’ve not had a forward that can hit a cows arse with a banjo, but we have a team full of players that can all pass a ball pretty well, but unfortunately only sideways and backwards.
You may well be right, in fact you probably are. Actually, I’d disagree slightly because I’m not sure we have a team full of players who can pass that well, either. Certainly not as well as we used to.

But, all that changing to 442 would mean is that we would have two up front not being able to hit a cow’s arse and less people in midfield not being able to pass to them. Also, less players in midfield not being able to tackle therefore meaning we see less of the ball to not give to the two lads for them to miss that cow’s arse.

Close to signing a deal with Red Bull New York I believe! They have until tomorrow to sign him! Some of their fans are not happy and have been commenting on his ability to run and dribble with the ball but do nothing else! ha ha At the end of the day he won’t be here at the beginning of next season whatever happens!

Of course, he won’t. He said weeks ago that he doesn’t want to play in League 1 and would move if we got relegated. So what?

I look forward (not really) to seeing those who think he’s absolutely dog shit create a 15,000+ post Judas-type thread monitoring his every dribble and yellow card wherever he ends up next season.

    Thanks.

I think there have been plenty others to choose from, too!

Because he was poor for us and we needed him off the wage bill?

If they’re the reasons it’s a wonder we had enough players to send a team out.
Not bad for you, that ;)

    BTW, welcome back griff!!

I’m not really back. Far too busy these days. This bank holiday weekend has given me a bit more time but I haven’t seen much to encourage me to come back any more regularly. Present company excepted, of course. ;)

League One won’t be no walk in the park that’s for sure! There were a few blind faith merchants

Not that I personally am a blind faith merchant – despite, and not caring at all, what you and the Preston know-nowts might think – but I’d rather be one of those than a miserable, negative moaning twat.

I really don’t know why some of you lot even bother watching Wigan (note I didn’t say supporting) as you seem to hate everything about it.
I don’t come from Preston? I haven’t said that I am not going to buy a season ticket, I said I shall wait and see! Do you think that there will be the same home following next season? I am willing to bet that there are a few thousand less! It’s a wheat from the chaff scenario as far as you ‘Goole Away’ merchants are concerned and deep down you love it! You would say nothing if we went down again next season and again you would berate the fans who moan but it is those that moan that really care in my opinion! We should NOT have gone down this season and some of us pointed out the glaring errors that were being made whilst the ‘True Supporters’ as you like to be called just sat back and took it on the chin without a fuckin whimper! Some of you even tried to get behind Whelan and his hairbrained idea to bring in Malky Mackay! You really couldn’t make this shit up ! :)
I’m supposed to take lessons in supporting this club from you??? That’s almost as mental as Horc thinking he can manage the team!!
What’s happened to I don’t come on here anymore ?
Go away, you tedious tit. This board – for all its failings and pointlessness – is still way too advanced for your limited intellect. Go and find a colouring book, or something more suited to your level.

No the FA Cup was won by Bob reverting back to real football in the style we had been accustomed to in the past.
Please Mr Sharpe, we want our club back!

How? Go on I dare you to try and explain that one.
Did you ever get an answer to this one? No, I thought not.

in reply to: Todays game #141949

What a sanctimonious and sycophantic post! Have you ever thought that we might be of a more passionate nature, not a bad trait in my eyes! You have called fans before today for rising out of their seats in your stand and getting animated, well that is a passionate fan and there is nothing wrong with it! Fans come from all manner of backgrounds but come match day they are one in my book and just because some happen to have degrees and the like and work in an office environment, they are no better than say the working class guy who works on a shop floor or on a building site! Football matches are a far far cry from the sterile atmosphere of your typical office !

Not really. But it’s clearly touched a nerve with you. Why are linking the ability to support a club properly with where you work? What utter nonsense. Again!
Of course it has touched a nerve, that is why I responded! I would also say that most office wallowers are more controlled with their emotions on match days and prefer the comfort and literacy of the football forum to air their respective views whilst your proper working class salt of the Earth types are more passionate and like to get animated and into the whole matchday experience! So it’s not really about the ability to support a club, it’s just about different people! You once slated Horc for swearing, well swearing is commonplace on the football terraces, always has been, always will be! That is why many clubs introduced family stands!
Well, fair play to you. You’ve finally managed to spout even more shite than your other Preston mates. That is the biggest load of bullshit generalisation I think I have ever read. I must take note of that though – if I want to support my club better, I must swear more.

And actually, I didn’t slate Horc for swearing; my 8 year old lad did. And the club’s Family Stand was shut that day as it was a pre-season friendly with only the West Stand open. So, not only do you opinions seem to be worthless, you’re not that clued up when it comes to facts either.
