To go through the season without the threat of relegation would be a fantastic season.
Fair point but even so he is still learning his trade as a manager and coach and the majority of this season (23 games)has been appalling and questions need asking as to why they started so poorly given that most of the current squad were at the club back in august last year.
I agree totally how great it is to survive and i am very proud but he is no way ready to take a big job.
Next season(if he stays) could be the making of him though and im sure we will all expect much more from him and the team.Don’t get me wrong Vince , I totally agree with you he is still learning the trade – he has afterall still had just three years as a top level manager. I would hate to see him go now to a massive club where they will demand instant success and he could well end up just
another managerial casualty.
I’ve said before we could be on the verge of something special here and I’m sure he will want to see just what we can achieve. I honestly believe he’ll be here for at least another year regardless of who comes knocking.
I hope he stays but the entire backroom staff need to sit down and get the bit between the teeth earlier in the season and not prance round like they have won the champions league because they stayed up.They have avoided relegation AGAIN and it is hardly celebratory stuff when you look at it in the cold light of day.I think the bad start was caused by too much dwelling on the heroics of West ham and Stoke and that casual celebratory atmosphere carried on well into this season hence the dreadful start.
Caldwell really impressed me on sky on monday when he played down the survival with a face that suggested rank disappointment rather than celebration.
It is now time to stop treading water and move the club forward which surely Dave Whelan can see the result of the winning team of recent weeks is a full house of home supporters this sunday. It wont take much money other than securing the staff at the club and giving him a realistic budget for prudent transfer dealing that Martinez seems to be very good at.
This surely would be much rather than daft spending on mediocre players past their sell by date that we have seen in the past.
If they start next season as they finished this one then surely we are looking at bigger crowds and cup runs and a more enjoyable season than the one we have just had.
The bar has been raised in recent weeks so i reckon he should stay for one more year at least to see what happens.
If or when he moves on if he does go to a big club he will have to hit the ground running. They would not put up with two and a half years of shite like we have.
8 goals in 72 games eh? Hardly a revelation. I would snatch their hands off if we can get close to 10 million.10 million would go a long way towards new signings, hopefully
He is another who has a lot of learning to do and he wont do that in a reserve team.He doesnt score enough and needs to realise he should pass the ball occasionally he will only learn that from regular games which he will get here.He has performed well in the televised games and seems to switch it on for the big occasion but his overall season has been ordinary given his potential.
That said if Blackpool stay down they do a lot worse than go for young Matt Phillips or tom Ince both fantastic players.
Phillips is related to Boycie i think and looked very very good last night at Birmingham.I agree both Phillips and Ince look like tidy players and Victor is not as good as his agent thinks he is
What I will say is congratulations to Bob it has only taken you two and a half seasons but he finaly seems to have found a system that suits our players.

You patronising two hat!! I think you’ll find that Bob knew what he was trying to do all along.
So he planned for us to be shite for 90% of the season knowing that this superb run of results was coming??? If he had stuck with his original master plan we would have been doomed but he changed the formation and it worked. If you read any of my previous posts you will find most of them asked why Bob didn’t try something different when it was obvious his system didn’t work. He did and look what happened, may be he does look on this board after all ;)
I take it the presence of a winky smiley is an admission that what you typed is an absolute crock of shyte and you know it?
For a start, your change of formation suggestions almost exclusively involved going 442 with the rest of the Luddites. Still, facts… story… getting in the way of… and all that, eh?
Whereas the Lightsiders claimed that Bob was doing a great job and a change of formation would make no difference
What I will say is congratulations to Bob it has only taken you two and a half seasons but he finaly seems to have found a system that suits our players.

…if someone had told me two months ago we would be safe with a game to go I would never have believed it.
Not many of us would. Didn’t stop some of us continuing to support both the team and the manager, though.
I’ve always supported the team on a match day no booing from me no matter how bad it got. I chose to vent my frustrations on a message board which as you have pointed out on numerous occasions nobody reads anyway. What I will say is congratulations to Bob it has only taken you two and a half seasons but he finaly seems to have found a system that suits our players.

neville commented on the atmosphere, and has for fans slagging the manager were have all the bobby knockers gone.
Bobby well done to you and the players goodpost goodpost goodpost
Oh 1 more thing there banging on about the penalty that rovers should of had thats what you get for your cheating fecking corner takingI’m still here and could not be more happy, if someone had told me two months ago we would be safe with a game to go I would never have believed it.
I couldn’t get on to the main page were the big plan is being orchestrated and this page to me looks like children planning a tuck shop heist but my mate has been to all the protest marches and stuff and he reckons there are many up for it !! It only takes a few and then bang ! It kicks off !Blackburn have been that bad this year I still think we’ll win if they play there starting 11 and a few fans as well ;)
I must admit…. I’m from the Griff school of thought on this one. People have their reasons for wanting other teams to go or stay in this league…..……what’s really important is that we remain in the top flight. Sentiments about local rivalry, ‘keep it north’, cost of travel, Rodney ‘fookin’ Marsh (to me) all go out of the window.
It’s about us….it always has been…..and how we ‘kick-on’ next season. Not bothered about who else is with us….they’re just another team to beat.
But Micky as someone stated earlier in this thread Noblot like us are potless whereas QPR will spend so who will be easiest to beat next year???
We will send Blackburn down on Monday, if we play anything like we have been doing it may not even be close.
Bolton’s final game is winnable, I wouldn’t wanna be in Mark Hughes shoes right now !!
Bolton have been poor of late so it’s a big ask for them to win at Stoke, although they do have a week’s rest for a change.
City won’t screw up, will they….????
We won’t screw up. will we….????
Dafter things have happened!
I can see us getting at least 4 points from our 2 remaining games so don’t worry Sammy. We will be able to enjoy the Wolves game safe in the knowledge that
WE ARE STAYING UP, WE ARE STAYING UP.
Blackburn all but down and the curse of TV game switching seems to have happened.
Im sure we will get the point we need tomorrow if not all three.
If the final day has no significance for us i hope Bolton beat Stoke and QPR get relegated as i really really cannot stand that club.
That said if we do survive i hope some investment is made to take us to that mid table level although old silver fox seems to be cranking up another transitional period already if you believe the papers! You can’t knock what he has done for this football club but sometimes I wish he would shut the fuck up. We all know we struggle to keep hold of players/managers but does he have to advertise the fact every time someone puts a microphone under his nose???
Hope QPR do go down, another delusional club that thinks it’s going to be bigger than it ever will be. I never thought I’d say this but come on you whites :woohoo:
”Also A huge selection of the crowd”You were slating him a few months back calling him thick !!!
FICKLE
Since February we have improved, but of late we have been outstanding which to me is a surprise. The one thing that has made me laugh is the I told you so Lightsiders, it was only a matter of time, we have been gradually improving for two and a half years, we all saw this coming
Bollocks, no one not even Bob himself would have dreamed our results/performances would have been this good.
