Whatever issues we may have had with Charlie in the past and whatever happens at Stoke on Sunday, for me this man has well and truly achieved the rare status of “Latics cult hero”.

        :text-goodpost: :text-goodpost: :text-goodpost:
When he turns in another MOM performance at Stoke and we stay up I wish him all the best in his career and hope he gets the move his talent deserves.

And we get a good price for him and not 6m which I have seen mentioned, he is worth 3 times that IMO.

I disagree – we need to approach the game with the same team as we started with against Wet Spam. I think we were setup nicely in the 1st half apart from a few wayward passes and our defence being asleep.

We can always bring on Moses and Sammon later for the plan B – the thing about Rodellega is his stamina….he was one of the only people who was still able to run round at the final minutes…even Sammon looked fooked.

To play with the team now would be a mistake – we need to get at Stoke quickly and defend well from aerial bombardment and pass them to death!!

          :text-goodpost:

Totally agree. Even though the second half performance was a revelation, and thoroughly entertaining, it was out of desperation. Sammon, Moses et al are in the locker if needed but whether lightning will strike twice is anyone’s guess.

I think Birmingham and Blackpool will both lose  and we’re more than capable of getting a point with the tried and tested, ffs we’ve got 15 of the fookin things already :shifty:
I thought McCarthy had a real nightmare yesterday the game just seemed to pass him by and IMO Victor is better, offers more than Cleverly. So I would start with the team that finished against West Ham as if there legy after the cup final and City mid week Sammon will work them all day.

          Come on Wigan.

            Well played Connor Sammon today.

Never gave the West Ham defence a minute when he came on showed good pace plenty of power and what a finish. IMO Connor and Victor have to start at Stoke as Clevely and McCarthy were gash yesterday.

if the worst is to happen on sunday please lets not see anyone on MOTD 2 blubbering like babies, chins up, show of pride, let the world know how proud we are of our little club that bucked the system against all the odds.

now dont get me wrong i’ve shed my fair share of tears with the latics over the years, but they have always been tears of pride, JJB stadium opening, seeing and hearing the crowd in the first premiership game v chelsea and many many memorable moments over the years – but never on disapointment.

so everybody give it hell during the game – let everybody know we are as good as any fans in the world – but at the end show some dignity – unless as we all want , we get the result we need, at that point feel free to make an utter pr**k of yourselves.

i just think he’s too slow for the prem and doesnt seem to have an awful lot about him tbh

Robbie Keane has no pace but is still a very good Premier League striker. Mauro knows were the goal is but would need a Heskey like strike partner to do the hard work hold the ball up etc.

You just feel something controversial is on the cards & it will go the cheats way, what with Bobby Moore, Sir Trevor Brooking…blah, blah, blah.

Come on Wigan lets do Um :D .

Don’t care what the ref does if we can’t beat the Cheats in a game as big as this we don’t deserve to stop up. They are bottom because this season they have been rubbish so come on Wigan lets do football a favour and relegate the scum.

watching vaencia giving ashley cole a torrid time and his performances since he came back from injury,in fact the way he has matured since going to utd, give you a feeling of a proud parent watching their children doing well for themselves.

indeed i can include baines in that as well.

I hope we have a clause in his contract in case he wins the champions league, we get money :)
I wouldn’t worry to much about that, I can’t see them beating Barcelona. Can you???????

We aint had 2 wins on the trot in 2 seasons so im afraid its a big ask, normally draws against Everton and Villa would be good results but we have simply left it too late to improve and so these draws are gonna see us go down i fear. We simply cant win games for whatever reasons.

The simple reason is playing the way Bob wants us to we are just not good enough.

I think Phil meant that maybe the announcement would be that Whelan himeslf is jacking it in, but I think he’s wrong.
Can’t see him going unless he finds someone to take us on and I can’t imagine people queing up to take on a poorly supported Championship club. Sorry Premiership club, just.

Sorry Filmoss but if Whelan had any intension of sacking Bob I believe he would have done it by now. I think Griff is right as long as he is here I think Bob will be manager.

Blackpool will beat Bolton, lose at Man Utd: finishing on 39 points.

Blackburn will lose to Man Utd, and I can see Wolves beating them at Molineux: finishing on 39 points.

Thus we have to take 4 points from our last six, with at least a point against the Cheats.

So probably our biggest & most important game in our Premiership history is next week. So let’s raise the roof and get behind the lads !

I’ve just watched Stoke beat Arsenal and if they play like that against us we probably wont win. So as Lostock says lets get behind the lads raise the roof and lets beat the Cheats.

Me and a mate of mine have just had the same conversation. If Whelan does as he says and sticks with this clown can anyone honestly see Bob getting us promoted.
