And that lot cost £20 million plus wages and is why we cant go along with paying £30 grand plus a week any more

If thats true why did Bob insist on buying Bosselli £35000 a week????? Also spent more than £20m on in the main useless signings.

So we may as well pack up our bags now, The reason we are in this position is that we dont score enough goals and that we concede goals like they are going out of fashion, and that is down to a certain person, and for us being better off going down, well i would love to hear mr whelans response to that one, your post just shows how much you love martinez no matter what he as done to the club as a manger, ps if you were to ask all the championship clubs were they would like to be, i would guess they would all say the prem, but eh not you, you want us down

No, I want us to still have a club to support, be that in 2013, 2025, 2037, or whatever.

I don’t care what level we are playing at, as long as we are still in business. And we cannot continue to operate at this level.

I cannot believe that any genuine Wigan Athletic supporter will be selfish enough put the price of Premiership football above the overall value of us surviving as a club.

Can you not comprehend the position we are in? As things stand, the debt is secured until 2012. So we have a year to rectify things.
we will still have our debt if we go down if not more, so we may as well get another fifty mill yes fifty mill, which is 34 mill more if we go down, not including the sale of nzogbia at 10 mill, so that would 44mill, so you want us to go down makes a load of sense,
We go down, we get the parachute payments.

First season, 20 million.
Second season, 15 million.
Third season, 10 million.
Fourth season, 5 million.

We Sell: Nzogbia for 12 million
Rodallega for 10 million
Figueroa for 5 million
Boselli for 5 million
Plus one or two others might go, someone may come in for Alcaraz, and also Warnock at QPR is a big fan of Moses, having managed him at Palace. Don’t be surprised if he comes in for him. I think Di Santo might go back to Argentina, as well.

Through selling those players, we would substantially cut the wage bill.

That’s why we’ll be better off going down. Stay up and any money we get will just come in onme hand and go out the other, with more besides.

Are you one of these people who is ‘stuck’ on seeing us playing Liverpool, United, Chelsea, etc? Why? We aren’t good enough for this level. Why not just enjoy us playing on a more level playing field?

HINDLEY: You don’t know what Whelan’s brief has been to Martinez. Perhaps he’s had his calculator out and worked out the things I have just stated above?

It may be a case of ‘taking a fall’ to pick ourselves up again, rather than it get to the point where the administrators are knocking on the door, and the chubsters are sending out party invites.

What’s more important? The club surviving for many years to come, or battling out a season or two more at this level, before we are all over Sky Sports, as they go live to Fraser Daignton as he watches the administrators arriving at the club, and interviews a stereotypical Wiganer outside the ticket office who says “Latics have always struggled, it’s a rugby town” (and they are wearing a rugby hoodie)

Balls to the Premiership. It’s too much for us as a business (at this present time) and we are better off all round out of it.

How on earth has Martinez spent 20 million? Go on, break it down.

Boselli? We’ll still be paying a chunk of his wages, you know, and as soon as he comes back, I’m assuming Genoa will not want him, we’ll be paying him the full £38,000 a week again. Are you naive enough to think that because he’s gone on loan we’re not paying him? It doesn’t work like that.
Bosselli £6.5m
DiSanto £4.5m
Scotland £2.5m
Gomez £2m
Stam £4m
Caldwell £2m
Moses £2.5m

May be not 100% accurate but I have not included Alcaraz and the other Chuckle brother Stoikovic and quite a few others who wont have played for nothing.

Vat how much has Bob spent in his two years as Wigan manager????? Upwards of £20m. Not sure any of our other managers have had so much financial backing without having to sell first. And Bosselli was our top earner so how is he reducing the wage bill.

Vat which ever way you try and dress it up he has been an absolute disaster.

Steve Bruce springs to mind
But Steve Bruce bought some belters Titus, Cattermole, Heskey, N’Zogbia, Palacios, Kirkland, Rodellega, Figs all played and some do still play for us. How much quality has Bob signed McCarthy, Moses may be McArthur and at that I’m struggling.

Don’t forget he spent money on Gary Chuckle and the goal machine that is DiSanto. He has spent a fortune and unlike other managers has not had his best players sold from under him. This guy is the worst manager we have ever had, how the fook can people defend him is beyond me.

You need to look at the bigger picture, surrounding our financial situation……

…if you do, you’ll see that he’s actually doing a smashing job, and exactly what is needed for us as a club in the long term.
Financial Situation? He was allowed to spend around £10,000,000 and he wasted it on Mauro Boselli and Ronnie Stam :|
1) How will relegation help sure up the finances Standish?????
2) How long do you give this clown when everyone can see it’s not working hence our attendances sinking quicker than the Titanic?????
3) We don’t even have an academy so how are we going to develop youth when all the clubs around including Blackpool can offer young players academy training?????

Just three questions I could think of which sort of make a mockery of Bob’s master plan IMO.

Relegation would not sure up finances – it’s a by product. With parachute payments, there would however, be little effect on the club’s finances in my opinion if we stayed up or went down.

Whelan’s said he’ll never sack Martinez, so learn to live with it. It’s not yours or my decision how long you give him. If we go down though, I’d like to see how a season in the Championship goes.

I didn’t mention an academy. I spoke of youth. Wigan’s academy as such is the Reserve Team. Have a look at the age of the players. Likewise, the first team squad is the youngest since we reached the Premier League.

Does that answer you?
We are going down mate bottom of the league I don’t give a shoite what age our team is!!! I have given up getting excited about us having good young players or not so good as the league table suggests, if they are good enough they will be sold. So don’t get too excited about our squad being one for the future because it just wont happen.

Does that answer you?

A decent performance, in general, but no points/goals and that’s what we need at this stage of the season more than ever. Having someone who could score goals would be nice.

Even if we had someone to score goals chances are our super manager wouldn’t play them. IMO Sammon did alright when he came on and deserves a start in a 4-4-2 formation next game along side Hugo. But our tactical genious will go back to his usual shoite formation with one up front. Can someone please tell me why Bob persists with one up front when we can’t score goals it doesn’t make any sense :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

Im not so sure, Ive seen enough of Rodders to know that he is not a premiership striker, The competition these days at clubs is great, But at latics it is easy, Rodders or Di Santo, i mean come on, records speak for themselves, They are not up to the job, balls to formations, if you can not score more than 2 goals a season as lead striker then something is dreadfully going wrong, think about it, you can bag a jammy one and a tap in at least a season, So why cant a wigan player score a goal. The Barcelona formation just does not work with inept, bog standard players. Diame is the biggest puzzler i think, the man obviously has talent but Martinez doesnt know how to use it. Much like Jewell, Hutchings and Bruce did not know how to use a player like Landzaat. The premiership just does not suit them. You have to rely on the likes of Nolan e.t.c nowadays, But is that a bad thing, bring on the championship, and its championship english players.

Oh and on the subject. I still stand by my claim that Hendry Thomas is one of the worst players i have ever seen.

Be interestin to see if “rodders” goes on to make it at a big prem club I honestly think he will, the best striker in the world wouldn’t top the scoring chart in the prem whilst at wigan!
Messi would be made to look gash playing for us with Bob the master tactician calling the tune. :sad-roulette:
