All depends on the team Bob picks. If we have more first teamers in then a win, but we know what Bobs like so it could be a loss.
Grabban is back for Bournemouth which might give them a bit more up front

Fair play to you Northernprimate, how do you find the time to work with all them holidays.
Nothing booked yet but will be somewhere warm. Went to Cornwall last year and didn’t get much sun… Fair to say i won’t be going anywhere as extravagant as some of the places mentioned above

Is it just me, or is everying else seeing certain key words in posts highlighted and having links to pop-up adverts since yesterday.

I’m seeing popups on other sites as well (facebook, etc) that I haven’t had before so it could well just be my laptop

I noticed that a few weeks ago but have not seen it for a while now. Just assumed it was an advertising thing with CL.

Glad it’s not just me with the advert thing though, sure the wife was thinking i was visiting dating sites!! got Muslima.com now

In light of the draw, it’s got to be the FA cup for me. On paper we have a great chance of progressing through to the quarters. From there anything can happen!

I’m not gettin too excited about a weekend in London though, there’s a chance Bob might not think the same way

There has been quite a bit of talk on here about Al-Habsi.. Whether he is good enough etc and whether we need a back up GK to push him..

Would anybody take Craig Gordon?? .. Not the worst Keeper from what I remember.. Sure he had quite a big price tag at one point…

Anyway.. He is a free agent at the moment.. May be worth a punt depending on wages..

                What are your views? B)

                Wouldn’t go anywhere near him.

As injury prone at Kirkland and wouldn’t play for peanuts.

Incidentally who is questioning Al Habsi’s ability? He’s a very good Premier League keeper, and a couple of mistakes doesn’t suddently mean he’s become a bad one.
Precisely.

Ask yourself the question whether one (GK) wouldn’t be prone to the odd mistake, playing behind our ever-changing ‘frequently error-prone’ back-three every week

no wonder he’s a bit twitchy.

look at ‘world’s best’ (NOT) Joe Hart. Supported last year by the best defence in the league (Kompany etc.) Manager changes formation this, defence starts to leak, the once cock-sure JH not looking quite so smug now (club AND country).

Just for discussion, if you were looking for a number 2…. how about
wild card, Matt Duke (Bradford City).

                (1) Cheap and (2) incentivised to come to PL club and compete for 1st team spot.36 in June, possibly a touch too old on reflection ….
Yes, I agree with that JPC01. (Look James C. I’m agreeing with someone else)

I think Matt Duke would be a very good 2nd goalkeeper. In my opinion not quite ready to hang up his boots, but not so young that he’d be itching to play every week. Good shout that – but I’ll think we’ll stick with Nicholls because by all accounts he’s becoming a very good goalkeeper.
Totally, totally agree with you two

                  Wouldn’t go anywhere near him.

As injury prone at Kirland and wouldn’t play for peanuts.

Incidentally who is questioning Al Habsi’s ability? He’s a very good Premier League keeper, and a couple of mistakes doesn’t suddently mean he’s become a bad one.
Totally agree SW, Gordon had a bad time at Sunderland and Ali is by far a better keeper in my books
I wasn’t implying he should be brought in to replace Ali.. I was thinking as back up considering he is a Free Agent.

I also didn’t say that we SHOULD even get him.. Was only asking peoples thoughts, wouldn’t even have thought about the guy if I hadn’t seen he was a Free Agent B)
You did ask for peoples views.
The guy did have big prospects but seems to be made of weaker material than Kirky. It is a position that needs strengthening, but i think we might be ok with young Nicholls as cover?

Play the first team in the replay, spank them and then play the same team at Macclesfield. We have a strong chance here to reach the 5th round and if the draw is kind who knows what can happen. Look at Portsmouth the other year. Didn’t play a single side ranked above them.

Winning becomes a habit (as does losing) which is why I don’t get why we use the tired excuse. I’ve never heard a player in a winning team say he’s tired. Were our players tired in 2002/03 when they played 46 league games and still played in the cup against WBA, City, Fulham and Blackburn? No they weren’t.

The team selection against Bournemouth had just two regular first teamers in it (figs & boyce) with three bench players (stam, Gomez & jones). Very similar to the Bradford team selection.
Look at the first two Capitol Cup games against Forrest & West Ham we had more first teamers in them. That blend of first choice players & fringe players seemed to work as i’d say they are better teams than Bradford and Bournemouth.

If you’re trying to bring players on that don’t get a lot of first team action then surely you have to do it in a way that does not dent confidence. Didn’t go to the Bournemouth game at home but got the second half on the radio and i’m sure i heard booing at the full time whistle. That won’t do the players confidence any good, so let’s hope we have 2 or 3 more first teamers in the starting eleven for the replay in order to beat this lot.

We can then play that club in the next round that are a similar size to us?

That’s a tough one but would stump for a creative midfielder.
First thought was a striker, but any striker needs service and our current two don’t get as much service as they should.

LWB ran this decision close though

Surely we are not that desperate to bring him back. Oversized ego that turned into a bad attitude if I remember rightly?

That said, your post got me thinking about the Premier Leagues best ever goal award last year I think? Rooneys over head kick won it but Zaki’s overhead wonder goal for us against Liverpool (?) was better me thinks.
I agree bout the goal, but i think spud head may have had a lot to do with the way zaki acted, previous rumours about fall outs with other players at other clubs
You mean – Steve Bruce he’s got a big fat head – spud head? wasnt aware of any rumours or fallings out between the two.
