Never once looked fit or interested while he’s been here.

That’s a bit unfair egg, did you see him put his body on the line diving head long for the first goal at Bury? That forced own goal got us back in the game and allowed us to eventually secure a good away point.

What I’ve seen when he plays, is someone who has been injured for a long period and is desperately trying to impress in the short cameos he has been given. He is “over trying” in my opinion. However, I can see how fans feel that he he doesn’t give a shyte, the way he turns up on match days with his tracky on laughing and joking with the players, I think its just he’s character.

I suppose I’m on the fence with the whole Holt situation, would not complain if he stays and wouldn’t be too upset if he left.
Dear me JR, u have just picked out Holts one and only decent effort for WAFC and still sit on the fence about him???
A Norwich fan laughed at me when we bought him, saying he was sh ! te and were welcome to him… A bad player bought by a bad manager!
When are you going to realise that players and managers are often seen has crap by fans, AFTER they have left your club. I’ve done it myself, is it not just a bit of that going on with the Norwich fans?
He had some fantastic times at Norwich, scoring 68 goals in 154 games. That doesn’t warrant being called shyte, especially when a lot of those goals were score in the prem.
Grant Holt has played just 17 times for Wigan scoring 3 goals, how can you possibly come to a conclusion that he is a shyte player. He has been shyte at keeping injury free whilst he has been with us, that conclusion can definitely be made.
I’m basing my comments on how he has performed for Wigan, and that is most definitely, POOR… When he first signed he was carrying too much wood, and that showed in his performances (when he was fit, ish). He’s done nawt for us, jack ****.

Now I’ve had a look at Wiki also, and most of his goals for Norwich were scored in League 1 & the Championship, not the Prem. However, his record in the prem would make him our best ever scorer, when we were there!

We bought him at the wrong end of his career JR, that is my point. No doubt he had some ability when he was younger, but as Tez says, he’s not bothered about Wigan, just his wage packet! Surely you can see that, even through your blue tinted glasses :pinch:

All under 18 ticket money for our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy fixture with Blackpool FC next Tuesday will be donated to Amelia Morris’ Christmas Fund.
Amelia, from Beech Hill, is two-year old who has Tay Sachs disease, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive damage to the nervous system and affects just one in every 320,000 babies in the UK.
Amelia is not expected to live much beyond Christmas unfortunately and her parents Whitney and Jonathan are hoping to raise enough money to decorate their house with festive lights and give little Amelia a Christmas to remember.
David Sharpe wants to make sure that every pound the club receive for Under 18 supporters will go to Amelia’s fund.
“I read about Amelia’s story in the press,” he said, “and like everyone was moved by it. The family live less than a mile from the DW Stadium, so it seems the right thing to do to help someone in our local community who is undergoing such a tough time. It’s the least we can do.
“Hopefully, when the fans see that their money will be going to such a worthy cause, they will come along to support the team, but more importantly to support Amelia and her family. It’s the least we can do, hopefully we can the family the Christmas they deserve.”

Good post 35, not heard of this previously. Let’s hope we can raise a fair bit fun for her!

A good gesture by the club

Formations don’t win matches IMO, purpose & intensity will though. Whether it’s a 442, 433, 451, 541 or any other new buzz formation i’ve not mentioned, you have to play to win. One up front can work if that player is supported by the other players, if not then he will look sh ! te and hardly score. Sound familiar?

Good riddance, to one of the biggest flops this club has ever had… A very expensive burden to the club, just hope Wolves pay his full wages.

You’re saying he was worse than Aghahowa, Fortune, Boselli… et al?
For me yes, Holt has been a bad buy. He wasn’t fit in his first season and for a big bloke won fook all in the air.

Aghahowa, now that is a very good point! He was crap, remember one game and he was clean through on goal at the DW (shooting towards the south stand) and he kicked the floor rather than the ball… PMSL even now about that..

That award must go to a certain Mr Boseli. Think Holty had the misfortune to get injured then his face didn’t fit with Herr Rosler then injured again. Just making a comeback and now he doesn’t fit into the wage policy at Latics. Wait till January and Barnet McGann and Cowie will be gone too.
Now I disagree about Boseli, he didn’t do much for us, granted, but that was the formation we had that didn’t do him any favours. Boseli was a player that needed a partner up front, but we used him as a lone striker for most of his early days which did not suit him (not many others for that matter). Holt just looked unfit & shite for most of his early career with us.

Jordi? Do you mean Flores 35?

Bolton fan at work was gutted when they let him go to us. But said he was injury prone, which is probably why they let him go?

Defo, sure & safe hands make a difference to the defence. Very good signing.

The loan is only until January so you would hope he can go that long without injury?!

He’s 34 and is way past his best so for me the quicker he goes the better. Let’s hope Wolves see something in him and keep him until the end of the season

Was speaking to a Barrow fan only last week about this mon and he said they were hoping to get him but found out what his wages were and that was it!!

You know I thought this lad was ace for the few games he played for us. One small error, in a European game i think? and that was the end of him.

Hear what you are saying, but once a player leaves a club it sort of defeats the object?

I’ll definitely be going to the Blackpool game in the cup, as much to see Boycey as anything else. Great servant to our club in my opinion, and hope he gets a rousing applause (if he plays).

Bury has always been an expensive ground to got to. I didn’t expect them to give decent prices..

Was a bit gutted when we drew them, was hoping for a non league club away.

A typical negative Bob formation disguised as an attacking one!

Don’t know whether we could have won it, but certainly could have made more of a game of it.. Diame & Charlie would have started for me. McManaman was an unknown to be fair.
