wishful thinking would love him back[ paul jewell]
You can’t and shouldn’t turn back the clocks. You only have to go to one of those northern soul sessions at Swinley LC or Pem Central LC and see what is taking place on the dance floor, to realise that.

Quite ironic for someone who appears to be stuck in the 1980s ;)
Stuck in the 1980’s?? As a young lad in my 20’s I was hung over with alcohol all through the 80’s, I can remember fek aw.

What a journey!Wigan linked with QPR winger Matt PhillipsHope the lad has recovered from his serious injury sustained last season, that sidelined him for several months.
We don’t want to become a team who sign players on loan just to get them back to fitness, from what I saw on Saturday, Ridgewell is nowhere near ready for a regular start, playing for us is he’s pre-season. :(

What a journey!I had to laugh at the video footage shown on SSN when they announced his baggies move.
He was on the training pitch looking like he hadn’t a clue what was going on, the players were generally jogging around, chatting with one another not taking a gods grain of notice what PJ was asking them to do.
When I heard he had left, that 30 second clip came to mind and I thought they had sussed out that he hadn’t got a clue about coaching so potted him.

What a journey!I think that when we first started to punch above our weight and reach the dizzy heights of the prem, it was important to keep a small hold onto our roots. Having people like Barrow, Benson, Cribley and Mathias around, made sure we didn’t lose our true identity and kept the link with the wonderful historic past of Wigan Athletic Football Club, a decent little club from the Northern Premier League and beyond.
I was living the dream with a lot of other fans of my age, but it also hurt to know that many of the people I grew up on Springy terraces with, unfortunately had passed away and never had the chance to see us in the second tier of English football, never mind the top.
It’s with sadness that I now feel its time to shrug off any physical reminders of those “black and white” days and just leave vivid memories for those old enough to remember, to cherish and talk about with their kids, grand kids and great grand kids.
The football world now knows who Wigan Athletic are and where we have come from, being in prem for several years and winning the FA Cup has made sure of that. Whether they give a shiny shyte about it or not, is irrelevant.
So, lets start a new, out with the old backroom staff and players from the prem and build a team of fighters who have hunger for playing in the prem….. with Wigan Athletic.
Defying all odds is Wigan Athletic’s core value, so if it takes the signing of some bright up and coming young kids from the Scottish third tier or England’s Sky Bet league two, lets ger um, train um and play um. We’ve done it before, we can do it again. The club is in great shape financially, so whether its Whelan at the helm or not, we will survive.

What a journey!I’ve always thought the club have been poor at communicating information on general things going on at the club, However it doesn’t take much effort to browse the official club site / wall and find things out.
I have subscribed to Latics Player since it started, so get interviews with the manager, players and get highlights of development squad, youth team games. Its only the price of a match day ticket or one night on the lash for a12 months subscription. :)

What a journey! The thing I find strange is why have 3 managers had to work with the same backroom squad and not been able to bring in their own team. A great number 2 can make a world of difference as we witnessed with PJ and Hutchings. Is it just coincidence that 3 guys seem to be sending us in the same direction in similar style and the new manager syndrome is not working here. If changes are to be made keep Malky and get shut of Barrow and his merry men and let the gaffer form his own support. From where I sit in the West, it seems like it’s Brian Kerslake who is doing the most confabbing with McKay, a coach that he has brought in.
Having said that, I personally would like to see all links from the old brigade severed. That includes Barrow, Black, Cribley and the various other back office staff.
I still have the belief that if Martinez had brought in an experienced, bin there done that sort of assistant, we would still be in the top flight. You only have to look at the Everton bench to see the likes of Jones and Lawrence sat there, to understand why we are were we are and why Everton are struggling.
There must be loads of ex prem league managers knocking about, who might jump at the offer of being a number 2. That for me would be a signing worth his weight in gold.

What a journey! For reasons only the club will know, they have been honest with the player and told him he will not play as many games as he has done in the past. Unfortunately in all walks of life this happens, I struggle to go on a drinking spree more than once a week these days. I used to go out every night as a late teenager up to my late twenties and still got up for a 6-2 shift.
Gerrard has obviously not liked the situation and feels like he doesn’t want to play a game, rest a game.
There has been many a debate on here about the manager seeing these players train and perform in training matches, so are more likely to know if they are good enough to play or not, Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers are no different.
Gerrard has been a fantastic player and ambassador for both Liverpool Football Club and England for the past 16 years or so, but his legs are going.
I have mixed views on this, part of me is saying I don’t blame him for buggering off to the USA, if he wants to play on a weekly basis, but on the other hand I’m thinking, accept the inevitable you soft barsteward. Why not help the new kids on the block develop at Anfield by just strutting your stuff now and again and be around them day to day on the training pitch.

What a journey! If Steven Gerrard is such a greedy get, why did he choose to stay at Liverpool instead of going to Chelsea for the big bucks?
Because he stayed at Liverpool for big bucks.
Smaller bucks, actually
As I said he stayed at Liverpool for big bucks, who said anything about it being less bucks, same bucks or more bucks than Chelsea offered.
