Martin you are of course correct in what you are saying and speak, I’m sure, for the majority. To be honest I think Waghorn Riera and Delort could work. I actually think all 3 are hungry and would bag us goals.

….from passes, crosses supplied by who?

You can talk about formations on paper all night, but I’m a big believer that how the the game starts and the quality of opposition, in a lot of instances, dictates the formation.
I’ve seen many a game that we have on paper, played “one up front”, but at times it looks like we have 3 strikers. The opposition is pushed back cos we are bossing midfield and that’s how the game has panned out.
I’ve also seen us line up 442 on paper and it has looked like we have only had one striker, cos one is constantly having to come deep to look for the ball due to us getting bossed about in midfield.

I personally don’t think it’s a formation issue we have got, its more of a team not gelling issue and that is due to the constant changing of 4 and 5 players per game.

Rosler has ended up with a squad full of pished off players instead of 4 or 5 who are not making the starting 11 every week.
All the squad bar Carson, are not making the starting 11 every week and that is the main issue IMO.

So if you are listening Mr Rosler, get your preferred formation, pick your preferred starting 11 and stick with it unless injury or form tells you otherwise. The formation is secondary here and IMO is getting far to much air time.

With our current plight should this thread not be locked?. Bobby is doing a far better job at Everton that the sausage eater is here. Is it not a bit stupid to slag off RM when we are in danger of being relegated if fortunes don’t change?. Also I’m pretty sure that if we had the chance to bring him back at Roslers expense then we would jump at the chance. Lets let it go and worry about our own manager and club and let Bobby do his best.

Yes your right, Bobby is doing a cracking job at Everton, got a great draw today against a team that got 8 knocked past um the other week. If I and others want to discuss the fortunes of a former manager we will do thank you very much, or are you saying we should stick to the topics that you and your “Thank you” buddies tell us?.

There are plenty of threads going on about the plight of our current Manager, do you want a link to um, or should I start another? :P

Am I missing something here, but in that article, he says quite clearly that he takes responsibility, he is not blaming anybody.

I am in two minds at the moment, as once again, the margins of winning and losing as been the width of a post. Callum’s 2 shots go in, we go on to win comfortably, they didn’t and we inexcusably fold. :woohoo:

Rosler didn’t miss the golden chance from just a few yards out in the first half, Maloney did!

Its so frustrating having the squad we have and the position we are in. If it needs a new manager then so be it, but Rosler is probably more frustrated than us. He doesn’t pick a team that he thinks are going to make massive blunders like Barnett and Kiernan have done in the last few games.

Whatever happens next will be the in the best interest of Wigan Athletic Football Club and there is no better person to make that decision, than Mr David Whelan.

Would be nice if Jordi sticks one finger up at Judas and scores the winner tomorrow. Get down to the bookies tomorrow and risk a pony.

From today’s Mail on Sunday:-

Meanwhile, Sunderland’s Jordi Gomez believes Everton boss Roberto Martinez has a future at one of Europe’s very top clubs.

He said: “With all due respect to Everton he has everything to become one of the top managers in the world. He can go higher”

Can you all please read the reports from today’s Fulham v Hudds games in the Sunday papers, especially the bit where Grant Holt hits it over the bar from 2 yards out. The player is well past his best and wont be the toast of Huddersfield fans after that calamity.

You are clutching at straws my dear friends, Holt is not the answer to our problems, Rosler and the “best squad in this division” is!. :(

IMO there have been quite a number of exciting games that I have seen this season. The 0-0 draw with Forrest being one of the best, quality wise from both teams I have seen for a few seasons, even with the fact that it was scoreless.

I agree with most people on here that Rosler is making too many changes and needs some stability and partnership gels, across the starting 11.

Worst team? boring? makes you want to rip your season ticket up? booing? biggest downer?

Whilst I’m very frustrated, I personally don’t think it’s that bad…………yet! :woohoo:

I notice the picture seems to have gone from Twitter. I hope someone (maybe Rosler, maybe DW) has b******ed him and asked what the **** he thinks he’s doing.

It’s a good job I don’t swear :)

Does your boss dictate to you what you can do in your free time?

Why are people getting stressed about this, he was at home on his own time because Rosler had chosen to leave him out.
I am now retired but when I did work, yes my boss to some extent did dictate what I could do in my free time. I had to act in a way that did not “bring the business into disrepute”.
No.. Mr whelan needs to act straight away .Too many balls ups been festering on for weeks. From his 1 striker obsession, poor signings, team selections to the Holt afair.Coyle had more points at this stage with Europe to contend with and spent a lot less. The most worrying for me is that it seems the players are not in touch with him anymore and certainly struggle to settle into any playing style with his ridiculous team rotation .The question for everyone is ..Do have confidence in Rosler to dig us out of this mess ? Me for one its a resounding No !!

The red wine and cider may have taken it’s toll, but there were some valid points made. For what it’s worth, here’s my two penny’s worth.

Callum is one of the most feared wingers in the Championship whether on the right wing or switching to the left wing occasionally, but was totally wasted as a left sided wing back.
The one time he reverted to the right side in the first half they hacked him down and he won a penalty.
In the second half he was switched to the right momentarily before being subbed and three players were deployed to counter his attacks and that alone made more space for the rest of the team to exploit.
We would have been far better starting with McLean in that left position, or why not just play Callum in position, I can’t understand the logic in playing him there at all.
Fortune was excellent again and has really stepped up but I do feel sorry for him with no support.
Roger was good and scored a great goal, his energy and enthusiasm lifts the crowd and that in itself helps to lift the team as a whole.
Tavernier and Figueroa coped well enough but the central defensive pair were woeful throughout.
I also thought the other three midfielders weren’t up to it yesterday, although Forshaw’s ball through to Maloney was one high point.
Cowie doesn’t do a lot wrong admittedly but he seldom does anything inspiring.
Huws was ineffective yesterday and seems to be struggling to come to terms with the hustle and bustle of Championship football.
As I said, Forshaw did play a good ball through for the goal, but didn’t really do a lot more. I think there is a decent footballer in there somewhere and hopefully he will settle in soon.
At half time I would have thought long and hard about taking Cowie, Huws and Forshaw off and replace them with Waghorn, Maloney and McLean.
I know you never do a triple substitution at half time but it certainly would have changed things around a bit.
Grant Holt would get, and assist in a pan full of goals for us with our new found lump it up to the big lad tactics, where the fuck has the crisp one touch fast flowing attacking football gone to. All we seem to do is wellie it up to Fortune and hope he holds it up long enough for the rest to catch up, which doesn’t happen too often.
Overall, there were a few better signs yesterday and hopefully he will get it right before too long.
Three points at Brighton would be welcomed.

Forgot about Scott Carson, he saved us again a few times yesterday.
Easily the Player of the Season so far.
Agree with you about Carson, but he is the worst keeper I have ever seen with respect to penalty saves. He either dives the wrong way long after the taker has chose his corner, or he just falls to his knees whilst flapping his arms about. It would have been better if Barnett had let Hugo go one on one with Carson, he may have outwitted our Columbian friend.
