What a journey!I dont think we lost all our best players from last season.
Josh Magennis- Hugill’s done more for our cause in 3 games than he did in over 30.
Humphreys – was great at the beginning of the season then after being dropped for a discipline issue he spat his dummy out and wasn’t the same player
Charlie Wyke- again started well then went out of favour, hardly played.
Jordon Jones- I agree he was one of the positives from last season. He’s back of course for the time being.
Charlie Hughes -without doubt one of our best players but I like the look of Aimson and Carragher so will he be that badly missed.? Time will tell when the 3 centre halves get games under their belts.
Luke Chambers – another top performing player from last season, it was unbelievable when he came back.
Kelly Watts / Liam Morrison, I liked both of these players but Maloney apparently didn’t, overlooking them for long spells.
Tom Pearce – Another Nick Powell, the physios will miss him.
Liam Shaw – another I liked but was in and out more than our next door neighbours cat, also injury prone. Will the Fulham lad do a better job when he’s fit?
Martial Godo- thought he flattered to deceive. No doubt a top talent but the goals and assists columns don’t read that well.
We are missing an experienced midfield player but did we have one last season when we beat all but Barnsley in the top 6. ?
We still have the Chelsea winger and the Fulham midfielder when they get over their injuries so mapping it out like this, are we really in a far worse position, squad wise than last season.?
All the young lads have a season under their belts so should kick on this season. An experienced tall awkward number 9 and a midfield general late 20’s with championship experience are a must, then its all down to SM to get them bloody playing!

What a journey!Kendrick reported last week that any money from the Hughes sale will go to the upkeep of the club.
He also said that Joe Gelhardt was coming back to us on loan last season. Dont believe everything journos say.

What a journey! The point is none of the money will go back in to the playing squad the money raised by the Hughes sale or any other player for that matter will go to pay Danson back on what he spent buying the club, paying off debts etc.
He’s already a billionaire £7.5m is pocket money to Danson however he wants the money back, so I couldn’t give a shit if the club gets £20m for Hughes, the playing side of the club/Maloney won’t see a penny of it, we will stick to loan players and freebies.
Bottom line…….Danson has no ambition for the club, the last thing he wants is promotion because then he will have to put his hands in to those deep pockets, he knows loan players, freebies and cast offs won’t get us promoted, think about it!
You are assuming buddy, there is no real proof / evidence behind what you are saying, its basically a hunch.
So cant agree with you, will wait to see the actual outcome rather than what you are doing, speculating.
The boy hasn’t even been sold yet.

What a journey! Its not ideal having to compete with a low budget but all I want is a team that play decent football and not like we did for large parts of last season. If the team isn’t good enough then we will have to live with it. If I have to watch the dross that was on show last season, pass sideways and backwards for 80% of our possession we will lose die hards.
Losing 4-3 cos the opposition have better quality players isnt a problem at least our team had a bloody good go and its great to see the academy players in the team. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Southgate is so called not fit to burn yet we have won more knockout games under him than we did between 1966 and him taking over
That’s because he has had the best squad of players by a country mile. Any decent manager would have won back to back Euros playing the traditional English way.

What a journey! You could say it was pointless giving Jason Kerr a contract cos he’s been plagued with injuries for the past 18 months. It was fantastic that he has signed a 2 year deal.
The lad from Liverpool is also a great signing and will get a full pre- season with us to prove he is over his injuries, as will the Brentford lad. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Read what I posted again instead of just picking out the bits that make my post sound like I’m deserting them.
Again, ask the question why I felt the need to miss my first home game in god knows how many years.
Cut me in half I have Wigan Athletic running through me, I just didn’t enjoy last season. The covid season was more enjoyable with a load of kids, has beens and Will Keane playing for the club.
If you don’t look forward to the game on Saturday then what are the options ?
I would never stop going, my season ticket is ordered and my seat will be mine till I die. I just have slight doubts about the owner and the manager. Last season was one of the poorest league ones I’ve seen. No disrespect to Oxford and the other 2 that went up but they where bang average to say the least. We were out of the relegation zone after 7 or 8 games, even with our minus 8. Maloney never said avoiding relegation was his aim, he actually said it was getting out the bottom 4 then see where it takes us.
I have a different opinion to you, so have many others, there is no need to be aggressive against them buddy, just chill and see what unfolds. I really want Maloney to do well, I will be behind him 100% at the start of next season, lets hope Danson is too. Lets also hope the off field shit is sorted too as its making fans angry and I can fully accept that. I don’t feel the need to tell them to feck off.
If I see the turgid slow passing game at the back and he cant decide on his starting 11, hence keeps making several changes each game, I wont be a happy bunny.
I do not want to hear 90 % of all post match interviews start with “I liked what I saw in the first half, I didn’t like what I saw in the second.” It got as boring as the slow passing game he persisted with for the games in between the great start to the season and the last few games.
Enjoy the close season buddy.

What a journey!Every fan has a right to say what they feel without having someone being angry abd abusive towards them.
That post was abusive and un-called for Runcorn.
Why not try and understand what has caused them to feel that way?, I can see it although I choose to look forward to see what happens in the next few months.
If anyone had said to me you will go to the ground on match day have a drink then walk the 2 and 1/2 miles home before kick off, just cos of the team selection, I would have laughed at them, but I did it.
Lets just hope that Danson becomes more visible and Maloney changes his tactics and stops the constant team changes.
I would sooner finish in the bottom half going out to win every game than top half playing like we did for most of last season.
I also hope the owner shows us that he at least “likes” our club and is not just a business man hoping to make a few bob every year, whilst our club treads water in league one and two, with no commitment to doing anything else. Time will tell.
There is no doubt however that crowds will be down next season, thats the general vibe Im getting after talking to people, some stalwarts and reading stuff on social media. So be it, there is only the owner along with the manager, his staff and players can change things, by getting it right on the pitch. I don’t mean winning every game, I mean being competitive in every game and providing at least a bit of entertainment in doing so.From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I personally have found it totally baffling that our owner Mr Danson has not at least given one interview since taking over the club. A self made billionaire is not shy and is used to talking in public. I actually find it an insulting gesture tbh and although my thanks goes out to him for saving our club, that’s where it ends for me. I don’t like the guy even though I don’t know him.
As some people have pointed out the club seems to have lost its soul. last season was probably worse for enjoyment that Ive experienced in my 50 years of supporting the Tics. Some blame I’m sorry to say goes in the direction of Maloney for his poor management of a bloody good talented squad. The football has in the main been dire to watch, the constant change in team selection formation and tactics have left me thinking is he the right man for the job moving forward. I actually walked home from the ground before kick off against Orient due to the team selection and one particular centre forward getting selected when we had far better players on the bench and in the u21’s. Before anyone says it was all about avoiding relegation, for me no it wasn’t, it was about getting the best out of the squad we had and has we all saw from the first 10 games and last 3 or 4, we could beat anyone. So for me last season was bit of a Shyte show for many reasons.
I have renewed my season ticket, for no other reason that I love Wigan Athletic and nothing will ever change that. It would take more than a ticket office balls up to prevent me renewing again tbh. Latics have been my life for the past 50 years, I’m a bit old in the tooth to spit my dummy out for something like that. However, I would like our owner to give us some visibility next season and actually demonstrate in person that this is not just a toy that he can pick up and throw away if the balance sheet doesn’t make good reading. I also want SM to show us that he can manage a game for more than 45 mins and can identify his best starting 11 and stop the 4 and 5 even 8 changes each game so we can get cohesion and consistency. If it means finishing half way up the league again so beit but lets get players playing with freedom again. From Matlock to ManU
