28th December is the last day to get your season ticket seat. If you are checking on the seat finder, yours will not appear as free cos its reserved for you until the 28th.
I always want to sit in my season ticket seat even if you can’t reserve them. I just go early to the game and get it. :cheer:

I thought I’d read 28th. Nothing coming up at all when I log in to say it’s reserved

The wider issue for me is using technology to help the officials. How exactly it would work God knows, but it’s wrong that everyone watching on TV can see a decision is wrong, but it cannot be corrected.

Game is too fast flowing. The goal technology works as its on a watch and is live but penalty decisions wouldn’t be. The ref would have to give it and then watch it back why everyone complains; but then how do you restart play if it wasnt a dive and was just a bad call?[/quote]

Very difficult how to use technology without unduly slowing the game. Need to find a way though sooner rather than later.

Whatever system eventually gets used, the principle should be that it is used to support the officials. A borderline decision shouldnt be changed, only one that is clearly wrong (that could be another worm can though  )

Like in most the games this season, we do enough to win them, the difference with Rotherham is we should win.

I said this about Ipswich as well, but as has been mentioned quite a few times, certain things went against us, but rather than get on with it we moped around for a bit and allowed them to benefit from their good fortune.

On the penalty decision though, how about this for a debate:

As the Ipswich players will have known that this decision was absolutely without doubt a wrong decision.
Would missing the penalty have been the honourable thing to do?

    Very interesting point JT!

For me, no, they should have gone for goal. We would have gone for it had the roles been reversed! You have to accept the referee’s decision and get on with the game otherwise you have chaos. Like I said before, these things even out (hopefully) over a season.

The wider issue for me is using technology to help the officials. How exactly it would work God knows, but it’s wrong that everyone watching on TV can see a decision is wrong, but it cannot be corrected.

LeyBulLand …… One of the many things I really enjoy about supporting WAFC is the fun, laughs and banter …… thanks for your supportive comments!! Sometimes these boards just get a bit hard ……… and serious!!

The way 2 of the last 3 seasons have been we would be suicidal by now if we couldn’t have a laugh along the way

I think you’re off your bloody rocker pal!

    I’ll double that

You been on the Christmas sherry already Rich?

    in reply to: Powell #153279
What’s up with the waste of space this time? No mention of him in the injured list, surely must be with the kids on the bench or has Warren had enough of him already?

He was the ManUre wonder kid from 3 years ago wasn’t he?

That’s why I’m sceptical about all this talk of Yootha bringing in wonder kids in January

Thanks Lowey, confirmed what we all thought…

The reaction of the players said it all really.

That said, they’re professionals and have to pick themselves up and get on with it, hard as that is sometimes.

It cost us a point yesterday, but got to take the rough with the smooth…no one was complaining when the ref didn’t give those 2 penalties at Huddersfield!

Much improved performance (with some exceptions…defence etc), but still the same result ultimately yet another home defeat.

Whilst the performance was better, it’s a results business and a defeat to Ipswich is far worse in the bigger picture than defeat to Newcastle. Defeat on Boxing Day would be in another league of despair.

Shades of the 2014-15 season however this team is poorer than that in my opinion.
A total lack of ambition will send this club into oblivion if some serious team investment is not made in the new year.
The rot set in in 2009 when we went from an established premier league outfit in the top ten to a club fighting relegation each season.
Yes we won a major trophy in that time but the club has most certainly been in decline since then regardless of that
Last night was like watching schoolboys play their teachers and I realised then that regardless of manager ( ridiculous decision sacking caldwelll btw )we have had it unless changes in playing personnel are made in January and the war chest brought out !.

Totally agree Vince. When you know who arrived with his tippy tappy stuff and one up front malarky the club has been in a near permanent state of crisis. People laughed at Bruce, but for me we had our strongest Prem side under him 2008-9….Heskey, Zaki (for a while ), Palacios, Valencia etc…

Then El Clueless arrived trying to play Champions League football with Championship players on a non-league pitch :silly:

We expected nowt and we got nowt.

Just checked the stats, apparently we did manage 1 shot on target at least

Obviously Grigg starting doesnt work….erm, so back to 5-5-0 on Saturday

Crowd looked really thin tonight (apart from the North stand!), doubt it will be much different on Saturday.

in reply to: Predictions for Newcastle. #153136

I think we will have to be very lucky tonight to get even a point.

To be frank, whatever formation or personnel Yootha uses tonight, I can’t see us getting anything. I fear Yooth will start with Grigg tonight, we still get beaten and he’ll turn round and say it “proves” it didn’t work and Saturday we’re back to 5-5-0 in a game we really must be targetting for a win!!

The weather has gone milder and according to Metcheck.com no rain forecast…the positive for tonight end there

in reply to: If we are still playing one up front #153086

If Dave Snr were to ring up his old mate SAF and ask/beg him to come and help us out of this mess, does anyone really think SAF would leave 3 strikers on the bench?

Not unreasonably, people say give Yootha a chance in the transfer market, perhaps to bring in the so called wonder kids from ManUre (Powell used to be one didn’t he? :P ). A good chef can rustle up a tasty meal from the left overs in the fridge…no different for a footy manager is it?

in reply to: Out of interest…. #152990
Could be that his aim is not to lose rather than playing to win until he can get his own players in in january that he thinks can play the way he wants us to … but thats not working either :-)

Play any formation or tactics he likes, but ultimately managers are judged on results. 4 out of 5 games under Yootha we havent scored. He plays with no strikers…

We fluked the win at Huddersfield (penalties etc). Any team can fluke a result sometime – after all Barrow had a 100% win record in charge ;)

Sad to say, but I dont think Yootha will last much longer without a change of tactics (and preferably results)

in reply to: Out of interest…. #152980
Does anyone think young sharpie is regretting his decision to sack GC & was a tad too hasty in doing so.

He was too hasty for me as I’ve said before.

Coyle, Rosler, Mackay people on here and elsewhere were calling for their heads for a while before they went. Don’t recall much clamour for GC’s head.

Any club, surely, changes manager to improve…Which is more important, results or how we play?

Results for me. I dont care at the moment if we win ugly or lucky (aka Huddersfield). If we lose say 4-3 having given it everything, so be it. But to lose 1-0 having played with no strikers isnt good enough. To do it 2 games running ie not learn is not acceptable.

I fear we will turn into Blackburn’s manager merry go round. For me Yootha’s gone by the end of the year (or 2nd Jan) without a major change of tactics/luck :S

in reply to: watching paint dry #152971
Never at the history of our club has a managers tactics more justified the statement but sticking everyone behind the ball playing no striker, hoping to gat to full time without conceeding is like watching paint dry. Watched Blackburn ans they lost too but a cracking game and at least they tried to win the game rather go down that way.

    Totally agree Lowey.

If we’re going to lose, at least give it a real go; if the opposition does better than us on the day then so be it; at least we’ve seen a cracking game. One of the reasons I suggested a bonus point for scoring 3 goals ;)

Shutting up shop is ok (sometimes) away from home, but we’ve got to go for it at home.

I was quite hopeful when Yootha was appointed. Given his workings with the ManUre Youth, where attacking football is supposedly the rule, I thought he would really go for it here. Oh dear.

God alone knows what’s going on behind the scenes, but if Yootha as it seems, doesn’t rate Grigg, Le Fondre, Davies et al and goes to Sharpe asking for money for a new striker in January, why should Dave put his hand in his pocket?

I fear Wednesday will be a long night :S
