The pool of players we have to pick from is decreasing year on year due to all the foreign players playing in the English league system.
I don’t think the situation will get much better without some stricter quotas being brought in to limit the amount of overseas players.

The theory was that by having “the best league in the world” the cream would rise to the top; the “golden generation” and all that.

It hasn’t worked out.

Perhaps our scribe “God” knows the answer because I haven’t a clue (as usual Griff will say… :P )

Anyway I’m leaving the country tomorrow for a few days….over and out!

Only watched the first half of the San Marino game (by choice) – was totally underwhelmed by tonight’s performance and that miss by Rooney in the 92nd minute sums him up really. Captain? My arse.

I really fear for this team – it’s a bit like watching Bolton compete in the Champions League. I sincerely hope you get your 55 quids worth LL4E

The performances so far leave plenty of questions..but we have won 3 out of 3, not 2 out of 11 :S

I know what you’re saying though; the national side has been in a slump for about 5 years…after many years of gradual decline.

The Premier League is the problem, not the solution. Playing for England used to be the pinnacle for a player as it was the only time they were on TV live. Now it’s a distraction from the greed league. It’s not the same anymore playing for England.

We need an England manager with real passion about the job and the team. Hodgson’s no good. Someone who will stand up to any Premier League manager and demand the best from their players.

Time to think outside the box for the next manager. What about Holloway? At least watching England will be entertaining again

Thoughts people…we need ideas

On his day McCann would walk into any Championship side, top player who had just started to get his form back when he got injured…..Again! That Kvist is going to be an invaluable addition to our side as well, very vocal and looks the part! Once Watson and McCann are fully fit Cowie shouldn’t get a sniff in! Guy whose windows I clean is a Cardiff fan and he said he was glad to see the back of him! On the other hand he was sad to see Taylor leave and I can see why!

The Wigan legend that is George Formby lives on

Awful, end of the day if that happened on the street they would be looking at a jail sentence. Thug! too many steroids if you ask me!

Or on the football field ;)

What a thug! Thank God thugs like that don’t play for Latics.
Great result though. Thanks Ben!

Thankfully DW got rid of Marlon King

I like chorley and there ground reminds me of springfield park.
Saw som scrotes outside an off y at 12 treating the front of it like some French pavement bar???
The old bill arrived in force afterwards – seemed a bit over the top – a day out in Bamber BRidge – away day sesh!!

Nob End weren’t playing so Lancashire Old Bill had to earn their overtime somewhere

I was near Victory Park this morning on business…one of the better non league grounds for sure.

If I am performing well in my job, I would be totally miffed if my boss says well done mate, done the business there, but I’m bringing Fred Bloggs in next week in your place, take a break sunshine.

Really? Depends on your job I suppose but I’d guess you’d be in a minority there.
Just for the record, I’m a nipple warmer for Kelly Brook.
Even Griff would like that job :P

This is a family board so sadly we can’t post the evidence of your handywork JR…

in reply to: Ben Watson #133975
exactly that’s another crowning moment watching the tics hairs in the back of the neck job tears in the eye I said to this girl on the day at half time 2-0 down she was crying her eyes out I said we will win 3-2 I promise you

That win set up the craziest last day of the season ever. Win and go down or lose and stay up were the permutations….

We had belief….

Agree Leyland 9 points are a must but the way things are panning out this season they will be far from guaranteed.
Much better driving now Longmeanygate is open. That was a right pain for over a year.

Yes on both counts.

A lunatic trying to escape the Police crashed into that house on the corner. Half wrecked it. Killed himself in the process. The home owners were criticised for not getting the repairs done….they were waiting for the council FFS.

Before anyone asks, he was not a “boy racer” he was 54 years old.

Which set up this nicely…

Stop having a go at Ben Watson.

He scored a very famous goal for us.

Have you forgotten when we played Arsenal in 2010? 0-2 with 11 min to go..what a come back Ben started…and Insomnia finished it off :cheer:

He scored another goal for us as well…wasn’t at home. Forgotten where it was. :woohoo:

OK lets cut the BS..Ben’s an average player but he scored our most important ever goal so that’ll do for me B)

in reply to: Next 3 home games #133965

Well said JR…

To those who have questioned our return to the Premier League…WTF do we play the game for if it isn’t to try to gain a higher status?

Every season we don’t get back into the PL it gets harder given the parachute payments et al.

DW and JJ have stated it’s the aim to get back to the PL…so who is doubting that on here?

in reply to: 5-4-Friday… 5 bench warmers #133947
It occurs to me that nearly all the sides that have been relegated in recent years really struggle in the Championship. QPR and Norwich up to now are the exception to the rule. What is this down to?. Some will obviously lose the better players but could it be that formations that were employed in the Prem just don’t get the job done in this league?. Coincidence or back to the old 4-4-2 debate?.

Our problem(s) has been adjusting to the mindset that every game in the Championship is winnable.

Look back to the videos of 2004-5. How attacking we were. JR and the Duke up front and plenty of action behind them eg Super Lee, Mahon, Bullard, Cavanagh.

Defence wasn’t bad either…

We scored more goals than any other team and conceded the fewest.

“The game’s changed” we keep hearing. Why? Who changed it?

That 2004-5 squad under PJ would be doing far better today than the current team.

in reply to: Nowt to lose trying this teammates #133808
Now I don’t know at all what the craic is with Espinoza, but you have to consider that now three managers, Martinez, Coyle and Rosler, have ALL basically sidelined him.

If it was just one you could consider to be a failing by one manager to see a good player – but three seems to indicate to me there is something in his attitude, his training, his relations with other players, or whatever, something that makes managers keep him out of the team.

Fair point.

But why hasn’t he been sold to Burnley or some equally Godforsaken place?

in reply to: Good effort #133805
Wolves a massive game for rosler, just to see his team selection

He will leave Ramis out and bring back Kiernan :S
