Not sure if anyone has seen this. It is a half hour programme which interviews a top flight manager. I caught the last 5 minutes with gus poyet, then the next programme was an interview with martinez.
He spoke fondly of his time at wigan & his relationship with whelan, & how whelan gave him his blessing to join everton. He also went onto say that if our FA cup final had been the final fixture of the season & we had played arsenal at some point during the normal season, even as the last league game of the season, he strongly believes we would have stayed up.

Throughout the programme he came across as very respectful towards every club he has been at & seems to learn a great deal about that club.

Interestingly he rates swansea’s survival from league 2 greater than wigans FA cup win. For all the glory of winning the cup, he states that staying in the football league was of far greater importance as it would have meant swansea playing semi professional.

Throughout the interview he came across as the perfect gent like he always did during both his playing & managerial days at wigan, hence the reason why i personally cant help but like the bloke on a personal basis. But, its probably that same reason why i feel resentment & the way i do for him leaving. Had he have kept us up or stayed for one more season to try to get us promoted then decided to leave, i believe he would have gone with even the most critical’s blessing. IMO it is like myself losing my job, then the next day my wife leaving me for someone else with a job & a better one at that. I know he, like everyone else, has the right to get him/herself a new job, but the way he left hurt the most than any other & why i hope everton achieve nothing this season.

Spot on Runcorn Fella !

If Martinez wasn’t in football he would be a silver tongued charmer working in marketing !

has Everton at the wrong end of the table ?

Okay Moonay, back on track with the ponderous question. What is the wrong end of the table for Everton; has Bob already delivered. Anway, shame on you; taking to drink so early on a Friday evening !

FFS Admin, close the bloody thread. Even those deemed to hold at least a modicum of intelligence are starting to look “mentally challenged” now !

Well you don’t have to click on, do you !
You just can’t resist a peek !

Even BFB has a daily look; just to motivate himself.

Out of interest is this debate ever likely to end at some point this season (which hasn’t even started yet), or will it continue until martinez leaves EFC to embark upon a new challenge.

Going by the amount of posts by Griff, Standish and Barnsley on this thread, they don’t appear to be about to stop posting about their hero just yet.

One thing for sure, Bob being at Everton has provided us with more entertainment and interest in the Premier League than he did when he was our manager.
As long as JR etc keep posting bitter twaddle, I’ll keep responding with my own supportive twaddle.

Don’t forget, the thread was a spectacular own goal. Griff, Barnsley or myself would not, and have not, started a thread about Martinez.

Also, I’d disagree with you about the entertainment and interest comment, but I’m worried you might swear in front of my children. ;)
I wouldn’t worry about that lad, they’ll have had very sheltered lives if they’ve not heard a fuck, twat or bastard by their 10th birthday.

BTW, do you and Punch swap notes and agree on everything.
You’re right HORC, Standish Mon had better not let his sprog watch any TV, use the internet, socialise with any other children, go to any football matches, read any daily rag newspapers, etc ! When my owd chap took me to the Latics at aged 10 he told me I would hear words that I should not use or repeat at home in front of my Mum. Maybe Standish has not grasped these first principles of teaching from the University of Life. And, if I was heard to swear by my parents; I got a crack over the back of the head before the reasoning discussion.

Anyway, hope Standish has taught his sprog the meaning of JUDAS.

Maybe he’ll ( R.M ) will be a one season wonder ! Pity it wasn’t at Wigan, where he was a one game wonder. Anyway, I’ll thank him for that one special game and that’s were my love ends for Judas !

That takes the biscuit !

Let’s hope he doesn’t crumble in attack !

Players who roll over four or five times when they’ve tripped over another players leg !

Just been to the TT last week: William Dunlop crashes at 130 mph, gets up and walks away with his leg broken in two places. Can you imagine our footballing superstars in that situation !

Well, well Mr Martinez; is he not good enough for Everton ?

Good luck Jordi !

Bob has put’s his CV away for another day; that’s why he was rooting for the Tigers !

in reply to: It’s no coincidence #131132

When we got promoted to the Prem, we had two up front on most occasions; likewise when we got promoted to the Championship !

Martinez remained with Wigan for another season, winning the FA Cup but suffering relegation three days later.

WRONG: we the fans suffered relegation whilst Bobby pissed off !

P.S are you Filmoss in disguise; he usually spells my name incorrectly.

in reply to: How Long Before “Bottom Four Bob” #131100

So; How long before bottom four Bob has Everton at the wrong end of the table; I think his bubble will burst next season, unless he jumps ship again !

Oh Alastair! Have you no shame?

Anyway, I’ve got bigger things to worry about. It seems we won’t be going to Barnsley next season.

Que sera, sera.
Yes you’d better change your tag; could be “were going to Nob End” !

I think on another Latics website that Gomez has given an interview where he intimated that he was gonna sign a new deal if we got promted but not if we didn’t (I haven’t read it myself but that’s what has been posted about it), so he’ll be off.
Beausejour has by all accounts refused to even discuss a new deal, so he’ll be off too.
I wouldn’t imagine that Crainey will be offered a new deal so he’ll be off
I think Boyce & Caldwell are out of contract but presume they will be offered new deals – whether they’ll want them or not is another matter but I can’t see top flight clubs wanting them

Of the players in contract I think we’ll get bids for:
Ramis
McArthur
Maloney
McManaman
We’ll do well to keep hold of the 4 of them

God knows what they’re gonna do with Grant Holt

Tend to agree with you on that !

Plus, hope we don’t sign any of our loan players; they’ve not met expectations imo.
