Looks like Sunderland got their own back with the Grigg sale
Nope, because you got him for free. Same as three times L1 winner Max Power.
You are more than welcome to both.
Just keep paying the rent to use the football stadium I heard warriors were massively in debt a few million or was it paid off
How come your still on here teolling a latics site thought would have vanished by now muttyEgg didnt pay up.
That will be fitting g for laneghan then hey mutty if that’s the case
Those Eggy parasites couldnt afford to run the stadium and would struggle to even exist without Latics charity.
Its been long established that IL isnt going to buy the stadium, even more so since your current owner has done jack shit to improve it. I’d stop worrying about the rugby if I were you and start worrying about your latest foreign owner who has realised that owning an English football club doesnt equal a quick profit, especially one where half the ST holders cant even be arsed to turn up when admission is FREE.
Whoever comes in will need to be a tough bastard who can get a tune out of this squad – clubs who go through 3 managers in a season dont have a good track record for staying up.
That said, getting a tune out of a squad that are almost all out of contract in June and almost all not likely to get it renewed will be even tougher. Zero motivation for them to bust a gut.
I fear the worst has yet to come hope I am wrong we are fucked I am expecting asset stripping with this lot
Only thing worth out is the stadiumIts worse than last time. Players like Geldhart, Burn, Robinson were all flogged to raise cash, as was Euxton. This time you have an overpaid, over-age squad that is worth fuck all and a stadium that has had little spent on it since 2020, so is probably worth less. £3.5m last time was for the ground and the training park. This time the sale price will depend on which division you are in next season, but if you do go down, I doubt anyone’s going to be paying more than £2.5m even if any debts are cleared. If they have to take on debt, then it may be the notional £1.

Cardiff so terrible as they sacked their manager after the game.
Sad state of affairs when you get sacked for not winning 4-1.
He’s left you guys to sign permanently for Ipswich. I thought that if he requested to cut his loan deal short to make a permanent switch then it would be to a higher placed championship club. Yes, there were rumours of a return to Sunderland, which got even stronger when Everton recalled Ellis Simms, but I suspect he burnt his bridges by not coming in the summer for whatever reason and our DOF has decided to look elsewhere.
But I’m very surprised that he has chosen to drop down to the 3rd division as he hasnt looked out of his depth for you guys this season, unlike others. Looking at that table, its a 3 way shoot out for the top two, but the top 7 only have 2 defeats between them in the past 6 games, so everyone is in form. Definitely no guarantee of championship football for Ipswich next season.
Yes this league is high standard
IMHO, its far weaker than in previous seasons. Hull are 6 points off a playoff place. Only one side is averaging less than 1 point per game (and only just). There are two sides running away with the league and the rest could finish anywhere and beat anyone on their day. Even after a nightmare Xmas, you are still one win away from 4th bottom. You’ve had spells when you are on top, but so have the opponents. Very few games are completely one-sided.
Sure, its shit being bottom, but its not like you are cut adrift.

If you spent less time obsessing over me and a more time helping blokes like Horc out with Guess the Gate when his laptop crashed (instead of me having to do it) you’d add more value to this site and the other one.
Grow up.
Very early days to make an accurate assessment. The three promoted clubs might just be still on the promotion high and in time injuries and fatigue will take there toll. I still think avoiding relegation is the main target for the season but ask the question again in the new year and we will see where we are at. In the mean time Latics fans should thank their lucky stars we have Leam Richardson as Manager , he has produced a team spirit which I doubt can be bettered at any other club ,what a result yesterday with ten men for most of the game. What a club Wigan Athletic are , I think you must agree with me Mutty !
I had a look at the 2017/18 championship table. Sunderland took 46 games to amass 37 points and deservedly finished bottom. Its taken 25 games to get there this time, and 11 of the sides from 2018 are still in the league.
I still think the standard is way below what it was pre-pandemic – 3 points separate 4th from 15th. Last night, mid-table Swansea thumped 5th place Watford 4-0. There’s two stand-out sides who will almost certainly be promoted. My tip for the remaining spot is WBA, who seem to have got their house sorted after Bruce failed again. Hopefully you will achieve your main target for the season and find at least 3 teams to finish below you.
Sorry Mutty but that just confirms my thoughts that it was a terrible tackle. It was a poor touch but the lad was reckless going in like that ,deserved at the very least a yellow probably a red. How the ref did not even speak to the Sunderland player is beyond me. As for McClean , he was rightly booked but if you notice he was pointing back to the previous incident in the Wigan penalty area that incensed the Wigan players and resulted in young Hughes going off injured.
So its ok to make a malicious challenge because of a mistimed challenge? And what about Lang’s slap on O’Nien when he shepherded the ball out for a goal kick? Another day that could have been a red card and a three match ban for violent conduct. Some players would have gone down like a sack of spuds to get the opponent sent off there.
McLean is a liability when the crowd are on his back. Perhaps Kolo didnt get the message “Dont play him against Sunderland cos their fans will properly rile him up and he’ll react”. Still, wont be a problem any more as I doubt I’ll have the pleasure of seeing him taking a hiding on and off the pitch again. Horrible, horrible shithouse of a player. Three things made last night sweet – him, SSB and Bullitt.
Never seen an injured player who was off the pitch roll on the pitch to get a game stopped before.
Game was already stopped because of the 2nd goal. He went off before you’d kicked off again.

Have a look – around the 7 min mark. Two things stick out for me:
1. The first touch by the lad was shit and invited a tackle. It was clumsy, but the ball was there to be won.
2. The guy who went on to berate Ellis Simms for the tackle got the wrong bloke. If I was woke, I’d be suggesting he was a racist!
Fast forward to the 10:23 and look at McLean’s tackle. Now that was malicious.
