I’m not supporting Derby, nor any other club that has been in Administration. They are all guilty of living beyond their means, be it over a prolonged time or as a result of a non-interested owner suddenly deciding not to write cheques. There is a rule in place for clubs that spend beyond their means, and whilst its tough on supporters, the folk I really feel sorry for are the non-football creditors who end up having to accept 25% of the money owed to them, whilst the new owners get a football club for a fraction of their worth. The football clubs get to start again next season with a clean slate, whilst some of the creditors end up losing their home.
Imagine if you were the company who supplied Derby with enough food for matchdays – say 10,000 hot dogs & burgers at £1 each for the first 5 home games this season. You were expecting £50,000 to be settled at the end of this month, but guess what – you are in a queue and might get £12500 sometime over the next 12 months if you’re lucky. Meanwhile, Mr Rooney picks up £100,000 in full for his week’s work.
Sorry – struggling to understand your point here, other than Wigan had less time to recover from a 12 point deduction than Derby have. However it could be argued that Derby have tried for over a year of playing behind closed doors to stave this off, whilst the money launderers didnt even give it a month to fund the latics before walking away and sending in the chuckle brothers to asset strip.
How come the EFL waited until we had secured safety then deducted the points that relegated us yet have said Derby will get 12 points on entering administration. So they could get bought out and have the games to pull the 12 points back. I thought the rule was if you get relegated then the points are deducted the following season. Seems to me that everything is being done to try and keep Derby in the Championship yet the EFL couldnt relegate us quick enough. Derby are 16th and could easily go down anyway so the bloody rules should be stuck to.
You appealed and that was only heard and confirmed at the end of July 2020.
The rules on points deductions rolling over for next season only come into play when a club who have already been relegated go into administration. I remember Leeds pulling that stunt midway through their final game when they were about to be relegated on the pitch. In terms of Derby, they have 40 games left to pick up those 12 points, so applying the punishment now is the correct course of action.
General consensus on the SMB is that Accy were the best side that Sunderland have faced thus far. Take it with a pinch of salt though if you want.
And feel free after the game to say they’ve been the best side you’ve faced all season.
There should be transfer windows for managers. If you sack them after 1 Sep, you cant appoint anyone from outside the club until 1 Jan.
The job as a football manager is nigh on impossible at most clubs, who have basket case owners, fans with unrealistic expectations and a media who thrive on negativity.

Aye – you are a proper true supporter. A true supporter would put aside his bitterness and get down to their home ground and support the team, not walk away. Your words 12 months ago imply that you’d rather see WAFC die or play outside of the borough than play at the DW if it were owned by Lenegan. Taken from Latics speyk:
Sorry if I’m wrong but wurriors owning ground has jus lost a few fans if it’s true and I mean a few will always be a tic but will not enter a stadium owned by them 2hats
Will see what comes out if it’s lenegan owns stadium for me it’s away games only not giving them 2hats anything
Good luck to those who will still go if this is true
I can’t for anything tred in that ground owned by them 2hats can’t spend money in there knowing it’s helping them cuts I’m hoping th.is is bullshyte let’s see what comes out laterNixon now reporting the story so good luck wigan athletic lenegan new owner of ground I’m sure a few thousand might still go as for me and the family no feckin chance
Sorry moonay this is last straw for me after feels like a kick in bllx well feck I’ll watch footy else where those of us who walk away won’t be missed neither will this rugby town it can feck off
This last statement was followed by a comment from Horc, calling you out. He said “The Stadium has been owned and run by a Stadium Company under the name of Wigan Athletic for over 20 years, which was owned by an ex footballer who loved all things RL and until he bought us had had very little, if any interest in WAFC.
If it changes hands and the Stadium is owned by Lenegan and his Latics fan mate, why would a football man and a Latics fan not run it fairly as the last owner (a rugby man) had.”
I can’t even remember the last time anyone was banned on here?
It was Bullitt, who was banned for abusing Garswood Latic in a very personal way. He only got back when the site changed its platform.
Anyone seen GL recently by the way? I hope he’s ok. Had some good chats with him about all manner of things.
Taken from the “About Us” page of CL:
Cockney Latic is run by, written by and read by Latics fans and football fans from all over the world.
If Bickymon had his way it would read:
“Cockney Latic is run by, written by and read by Latics fans as long as they have a deep-rooted hatred of Wigan Rugby and any other football club. You may only post here about WAFC and anti-Wigan Warriors. All other opinions will result in instant bans”
Thank fuck you are in charge of nothing apart from your own bowel movements fella.
Jeez, you sound like a recruiting advert for the Taliban – everyone can only have one opinion, and we’ll exterminate anyone else who happens to disagree with what I have to say.
Thankfully, the site originator and the chief moderator have a more worldly and mature view than your blinkered knuckle-dragging approach to those who do not see the world through your eyes. Would it surprise you to hear that I’m in touch with some of the ex-posters on here, and it was actually your warped view of life that drove them away.
For a bloke who is pushing pension age, you are embarrassing.
No one is saying Leneghen is to blame for past misdemeanours and if he made a genuine attempt to purchase Wigan Athletic ,with a consortium of local business men ,he would have gained the respect of the fans. His big mistake was having realised he could not raise the necessary funds ******** he tried to purchase just the stadium which whether he likes it or not would have almost certainly signalled the end for Wigan Athletic. I am just thankful the admin realised the importance of it and refused to budge.
**** – insert “and also realised no other local businessman or former owner was prepared to join a consortium”
As much as you hate IL, remember at least he tried to get a consortium going. What did the Whelan family do?
I presume egg will know more than most what actually went on with his WASC commitments but this doesn’t sound like someone who wanted the club to die
It doesnt suit Bullitt’s agenda, and those who think IL is somehow to blame for Whelan flogging the club to a bunch of money laundering gamblers after 18 months of finding the right buyer for the club. They prefer to blame Lenegan for not buying the club when the bloke who started the ball rolling was nowhere to be seen, and his only involvement was offering to poke his nose into the books, but wasnt even interested enough to put up a paltry £1m towards a 33% share of the club as part of a consortium of local businessmen.
Sorry fellas, but Lenegan isnt the bad guy here. He didnt pay over the odds for duds, then offer stupid contracts whilst only 6000 supporters bought a £250 season ticket. If you need a figure to blame, go shout at the bloody statue.
Yes he tried to buy the stadium (to protect his investment) but he also tried to find a buyer for the football club he just wasn’t it because he didn’t want it.
He also doesnt have the personal wealth to fund the black hole that was WAFC 2020. It takes a rich man or a money launderer to manage that. Thankfully, you have now got the former as an owner.
As for the colour of my seat – like many others, I dont have eyes in my arse, and couldnt give two hoots what the colour is. But I get that it can be very very important to some sad individuals.
One of the abused was McLean. He has form for stoking up controversy, so its hardly surprising that he is a target.
I’ll agree on that – both clubs should (and will IMHO) improve on last season.
