I can see now why Whelan wanted out, as those losses would be unsustainable for a man with his wealth.

If he had stayed and we continued to lose £7M a year his fortune would only have lasted him until he was 130 years old.

So there’s no reason he cant come back now?

Has Mr Whelan stepped forward yet? I heard him making noises about wanting to help.

He could get the club back for less than he flogged it to those dodgy fuckers. Over a year of negotiations & due diligence, and Choi was the best he could find to ensure WAFC was in safe hands…

We have to appeal against Fox’s red card. Another poor decision.

My stream died, so I cant comment on the red card issued, but Tony Robinson’s challenge in the first half was the most blatant red card I’ve seen since Roy Keane hunted down Haarland. However, as he got a yellow, then not even the FA can retrospectively ban him.

    Swings and roundabouts I guess.

No way will we not get a buyer. Club have many assets including around 30 million pounds worth of players.

They may have been worth £30m last month, but now the vultures are circling, their value will have dropped by 30%. And with zero income, apart from the TV money and a bit of advertising revenue, whoever does buy the club will not only have to stump up £15m+ up front, but plug a huge black hole until crowds are allowed back, and thereafter still fund the club at its £7m+ a year loss making.

Any new owner will have to cut costs like never before. Its going to be like Austerity on Steroids, unless some random billionaire who doesn’t give a shit about his wealth any more comes along.

There was legal wrangling over the Tevez affair, but it didn’t stop Sheffield utd from starting the next season in the 2nd tier.

    Spot on VAT.
The fans will come together there’s no doubt about that we always do. I’ve no doubt we’ll still differ in our opinion of the situation and future but we’ll stand together.
The response from other clubs has been brilliant as well with donations coming from fans of Villa, Barnsley, Man Utd and even Preston, Bolton and Wigan RL.
I understand Bolton fans giving us stick for kt (even though we probably still have more money than them) but every other message from other clubs is that of support and how this has happened.

Any true football fan would not gloat at the demise of another club. Those who danced on Bolton’s grave last August will be feeling exactly how their fans felt, and there will be some saddos up the road that will be dancing a jig. Fortunately those bitter and twisted twats are the minority and when the shit hits the fan, the good in the many outshines the bad in the few. Even though there was no game, supporters of many L1 clubs have visited Bury this season to have a pint, a portion of chips and a chat with the Bury fans.

If this is the case, the most apt punishment would be to apply the points deduction next season, thereby denying whoever has placed this bet a payout.

I’m very shocked to hear this news. Administration is not the end of the world – Leicester & Southampton came back stronger. You are not relegation fodder, and a couple of wins against Hull & Charlton should see you safe and back next season, hopefully stronger for the experience and with an owner who gives a shit.

It does beg questions about ownership though – particularly those without a pot to piss in, and it seems as Wigan & Sunderland have something in common in that respect.

    Good luck.

I watched a bit of Norwich v Everton without the crowd noise via I player. It was very eerie. The crowd noise, although fake and out of sync with play, does bring a little bit of normality to what is otherwise a surreal experience.

I’ve read it and cannot possibly see how you can interpret this as him throwing the towel in? He actually refers to his direct rivals problems with players not playing at no point complains about our predicament.
The reference to the premier league only used as to why the championship has to finish.
He is spot on with everything he says.

The only clubs who are interested in finishing the season on the pitch are those in the bottom 3 and those with a chance of promotion.

With the exception of Port Vale & Bradford, every league club throughout every division has voted on their own self-interest, rather than the good of the game.

Searching for a previous post seems to be complicated, and I haven’t figured how to get to a particular page in a long thread (ie the … between 1,2,3 and X, Y, Z doesn’t allow you to type in a page number.

Layout looks fine though, and like most IT, once you’ve used it for a few days, you’ll forget the old format. Nice to see the Karma button has gone too. :good:

    Its THEIR country too.

    in reply to: BLM #186631

All lives matter is the stock answer from a white person who has never been looked at in a funny way when entering a shop, or been stopped and searched by a police officer for no reason. Of course its true, and in an ideal world, BLM wouldn’t have to be raised. Sadly though, there are areas of society where being BAME means you are treated differently.

Is there a need to raise awareness? Yes
Is there a need to demonstrate? Yes
Should this demonstration be now? No
    Should it involve rioting? No

Sadly, it does appear that what started as a surge of support for ending the institutionalised downgrading of a Black life has been hijacked by extremists who are just out for a fight with the establishment.

There is a time and a place to protest in large numbers. When there is a transmissible disease that is killing the very people you want to protect, right now is not the time.
