Klopp, and his rose-tinted glasses, is the new Arsene Wenger.

McManaman wouldnt create service for the forward in a game of unopposed. Hes garbage. Stop w@@@@@@@ him off and using ot as an excuse to slag off Cook

You’ve changed your tune. Your comment when he re-signed 5 months ago was:

    Awesome

Unlike Macmanaman, Vaughan, Gomez & Gibson, I’d say he’s a quality player who would add something to any side in the Championship.

Has Will Grigg got crocked, or is he simply one of those players who cannot step up a level?

    but Rodwell should have been

If it was Rodwell  then sending him off would give the malingering 2hat a legitimate excuse to not play.

There’s no bigger punishment for him than making him play 90 minutes every fecking week!

How come, in the previous two weeks that neither the Bolton or Blackburn player who fouled the last man in the box and conceded a penalty was not even booked ?

It seems the rules changed a while back and red cards are not mandatory:

Whereas the huge flags covering the front 8 rows of the North, South and Boston stands make it look classy?

On the plus side, away draws mean the pitch should be in good nick come February and the World Club Challenge. ;-)

I remember Cattermole’s sending off at Wigan in 2010 – it was a clumsy lunge at someone who was doing him for pace close to the Boston Stand. It was a 2nd yellow. Since those two reds in 4 games, his game management has improved dramatically, and although he regularly gets booked, he now rarely gets booked twice in the same game.

Power is a marked man in this league and opponents are playing to it. Word has got out that if you go in for a 50/50 howl like a baby, and your team-mates get round the ref and say that he’s a dirty fucker who has already been sent off for that type of tackle, then there’s a fair chance he’ll be sent off.

I may be seeing it with different coloured glasses, but here’s my take on 3rd tier tackling. Sunderland came down with a squad full of players who have been brought up in a grade 1 Academy to play a pass and move game, and for the first dozen games, they have found themselves literally having lumps kicked out of them by thugs in shirts who are looking to make their mark on a big fish in a small pond.

Power, as one of those who hasn’t been brought up in a Grade 1 academy, is looking to protect some of his teammates by getting stuck in, only his attempts to get stuck in are backfiring because everyone is gunning for Sunderland this year, including the officials.

That said, coming back from 2 down with 10 men, and then being within a few inches of winning it shows character.

There is an interesting view of his red card yesterday at the link below. When you watch it, bear in mind that Sunderland were in black, and the Walsall player who was “fouled” is the guy diving in, and he didnt even get spoken to!

If a team has three or more England internationals picked for a game, then okay, that club should be able to postpone a game.
Postponing games because foreign nationals are picked for their country should not be permitted. Squads are big enough these days, and if it had an impact on teams being below par, it might just make them put more effort into producing English players instead of buying all all the foreign players.

I seem to recall Latics calling a game off last season after their 3rd choice goalkeeper had been picked for Wales U21s.

You could always take in a lower league fixture this weekend.

Sunderland v Wycombe, 3pm at the Stadium of Light… ;-)

£35 is disgusting, but be thankful its your local game, with minimal travelling cost involved.

Go to the game and support your team, but buy nothing from the ground. It will cost you £35 plus whatever it costs on the bus – a fiver tops? That’s still cheaper than a £25 ticket at WBA and £20 to get there and back on a coach.

I think it was Bloody Sunday that McLean feels passionate about enough to not wear a poppy. I haven’t seen a quote attributed to him that denounces IRA atrocities in Warrington, Enniskillen, Birmingham, Guildford, Canary Wharf, Manchester and omagh in such a strong and passionate manner as he espouses what happened in Derry before he was even born.

in reply to: Nemanja Matic #172988

I take it that you were against the appointment of Uwe Rostler and Martinez as managers then, seeing as they will have also had people from their countries killed by the british military before they were born.

McLean is a cnut who would have had his poppy boycott forgotten if he hadn’t then publicly supported a terrorist organisation. Don’t forget his protest at a WBA game in the US when he disrespected the national anthem.

Matic hasn’t yet worn a symbol supporting ISIS, PLA, Al Quaida, Al Shabab or any other murderous scum, so I respect his decision to not wear a poppy.

in reply to: Nemanja Matic #172980

McLean lost the right to not be treated like a complete cnut the day he put up a photo of himself in his latics tracksuit top wearing the Easter Lily – a symbol which is linked to the IRA.

On the bright side, its comforting to know that a percentage of his wages go towards the spending on the British Military he despises.

Taken from the Premier League Rules:

K.4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement in respect of its Stadium unless the agreement contains legally enforceable provisions to the effect that:

K.4.1. the playing of the Club’s League Matches at the Stadium shall always take precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement; and

K.4.2. the Club shall have the ability to postpone other activities scheduled to take place on the pitch in the 48 hours immediately preceding the kick-off of a League Match where, in the reasonable opinion of the Club, there is a risk that such activity might result in the subsequent postponement or abandonment of the League Match.

It looks like the Big 6 don’t have to play by these rules then, unless of course Spurs wriggled out of it due to the word “its” in K.4, as Wembley is not their stadium.

That said, there has been a knock-on effect. Fulham have now had their EFL cup game at City rescheduled for Thursday instead of Wednesday, and Southampton have had their premier league fixture shifted to Sunday due to Man City’s reserves playing Fulham on the Thursday.

The premier league is run for the benefit of 6 clubs, with the other 14 just being there in a supporting role. I’m glad not to be a part of it.
