1. Darlington – 10.1m
2-10 – various other North Eastern grounds25 May 2011 at 2:30 pm in reply to: season tickets – would welcome people’s opinion on this…. #66554I wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, and get moved to the East….
The club will have their own reasons for different prices in different stands. If you want that great offer, move and take it up!!
Pie, of course you are entitled to your opinion, but just because you find this kind of football doesn’t make you right.I’m not claiming to be right! Neither should you. As we can see on here, a lot of people find Bobs style of play interesting and/or exciting. Thats up to them, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I’m just expressing an opinion.
During the 90 minutes I back them 100%. On here, I may occasionally say that I find a lot of his football boring.
I really admire Bobby for lots of things. When he’s needed a result, he’s got one – that shows bottle, and that he has the respect of the players. And he’s kept our small club in the Prem for 2 years. Well done Bob.
I thought the point of these boards was to express an opinion…..and not blindly agree with everything done by the players and staff.
I’ll always support whatever 11 players are wearing the blue and white stripes through the 90 minutes, as I have for the last 30 years.
That doesn’t stop me thinking that most of the football I’ve seen under Martinez has been defensive, dull, ponderous, predictable, lacking in width and attacking intent. In short, boring.
But when he’s been forced into a corner, he’s inspired his team to some exceptional periods of play and performances. And he’s kept our team in the top division for two more seasons. For that, he deserves a lot of credit.
He’s kept a small club in the Prem for two seasons. That will always look good on his CV. Lets hope he keeps improving as a manager.
I really like Boycey as a player, particularly at RB. Good in tackle, quick enough, pretty good going forward, fit, good reader of game. I think he’s a more than decent all round player.
Got a couple of years left at this level I’d say?
Sorry – not being lucky enough to be at the game, or to have Sky Interactive, I had to rely on Sky goal flash and Radio 5, who both stated, obviously incorrectly, that Zog had put the cross in.
Well done Bobby for keeping us up. As Richie Benaud said in the cricket world, captaincy is 90% skill and 10% luck, but don’t try it without the luck. Bobby clearly has that bit of luck to go with his management skill. When his back has been against the wall he’s shown flexibility and some courage which is to his credit.
I look forward to next season. Hopefully we’ll see a bit more variety from Bobs preferred model of narrow 4-5-1, which over two seasons I think has shown doesn’t really work for us.
So Zog, playing as a conventional left winger, going past the right back and putting over a cross with his favoured left foot for Rodallega to head home wasn’t a change to what we’ve seen all season with Zog on right?
I may not be a tactical genius like Martinez, but I can see the obvious unlike some others on here….
Here’s one.
Well done Martinez for showing he can get results when it matters, on both occasions by altering his tactical approach. Lets hope he learns from this and becomes more flexible next season.
But, to keep Latics in the Prem for two seasons will look good on his CV and lets hope he can keep this young side together and develop it further.
Where do we sign? Quick, before they change their mind
If we stay up, could spend the cash on getting Palacios back as Redknapp doesn’t seem to want him
Maybe we could get him back to do the pre match team talk after the Sheff Utd experience.
Bob can do the half time one!
What people seem to forget is that the United reserve xi or strictly the pool of 25 players could proberbly beat the lower half teams of the premier league quite easilyThats true, I would back Utd reserves to beat Blackpool.
But my post is about double standards. They’re obliged to play something close to their best team by the Prem League rules. Wolves and Blackpool have been done on these rules. Its not good enough to say your reserves are a better team than most because you’ve got lots of cash. As I said originally, there’d have been uproar from Chelsea if Bruce had played our reserves against Utd on the last day a couple of years ago. Bruce would have been locked up by the Premier League cos we’re only little Wigan. Only the big clubs are allowed to take the p*ss out of the other teams and the league.
Shame there’s no player called Bob Cheating Cockney Bas***d. I’d know just the club for him.
lmb – you’ve got it about right there I think.
Even though we’ve got relatively low home crowds we do get behind them usually. E.g the times I’ve been to St James Park it was like a library apart from when Newcastle scored. Anfield was just the same. We’re usually good on general singing, chanting, encouragement when we get corners etc. The bigger clubs fans tend to sit and wait.
Saying that, the Newcastle away support is fantastic. A bit weird that those 5,000 who follow them away make no noise at home?
Yes, my original post was only about Utd and the fact that if they play a weakened team, they’ll get away with it where others like Blackpool, Wolves etc don’t. And they’d be showing no respect to those at the bottom of the league.
If we go down it will mainly be due to our own shortcomings.
