I made comments with regards some folk in front of me in the east stand who were constantly berating gomez everytime something went wrong, yet when another player made a mistake – nothing. When i made my points they remained quiet for the remainder of the game. If those people use this site & perhaps know who you are – shame on you. EVERY player can be frustrating at times, but to berate a player in the way you did is dispicable. These players are wigan players & we should all be getting behind them.
I also agree that al habsi hasn’t become a bad keeper overnight, but feel we need a strong & experienced number 2 to keep him on his toes. & as good as pollitt has been a terrific servant to the club, im not referring to him.

Especially as those same fringe players failed to beat bradford. When i heard of the original team news i was slightly worried. Suppose they had a point to prove.
Oh heck! Didnt realise i was going to touch a nerve with this one. Overall al habsi is the best keeper we have had since getting into the premier league. The comment was merely tongue in cheek & trying to make light of the situation.
Well played jordi.

diazThere was a spanish player in ’82 world cup called ufarte. & ourselves had a player in the ’50’s called dave mycock.
Maybe it is premature maybe it isnt. I too tipped both southampton & reading as dead certs to go down, along with norwich & ourselves to finish comfortable between 10 – 14th.
I cant see us finishing top 6 in all honesty, but i think we will finish between 10th – 14th.
The clue is in the first line. He is probably winding us up.
in all my years supporting wigan we have ALWAYS sold our best players. in the present day, admittedly this trend continues. but as i said in my previous post – we must be doing something right to remain in the premier league for as long as we have.
what do people want/expect from a club that has been punching above its weight for 8 seasons – 7 more than what i thought it would have. if you would have told me in 2005 that fans in 2012 would be moaning about the club not spending enough money on better players/coaching staff etc. to compete in the premier league, i would have thought you’d just escaped from winwick.
in my 34 years of watching wigan i’d never have thought we would be playing in the top division. in the past i watched wigan & TBH never really cared much whether we won, lost or drew. i turned up to watch my team & to enjoy watching a football match. if we won – great. if we lost – there was always next week. since we have got into the premier league there has developed a lot of in-house fighting between fans – hence the birth of darkside .v. lightside. whilst its important for all fans to voice their opinions on performances, the team, manager etc, why cant we all be united in supporting our team and simpy accept we do not have the finances to get into the top 8. as long as we are in the premier league, we will simply be one of those teams in there to make up the numbers.
at the end of the day, we have been in the premier league for 8 seasons now, so the club, management, coaching staff & players MUST be doing something right.
i couldn’t go to the game yesterday as my son had a match of his own at the same time, so had to make do with watching the game on football first later. yes, it wasn’t the best of games, & yes, we weren’t at our best, but we won’t get relegated after one poor performance. throughout this season there will be times when we play well & then other times when we will be poor. as another poster said, we are wigan athletic punching above our weight & in fairness, have been doing this for 8 seasons now.
i lost a family member a week ago & TBH reading the over the top remarks last night was simply pathetic. it was a football game which we lost. we will lose other games during the season – get over it. there are at times more important things in life.
just seen on sky sports news that as long as the paperwork is done before the deadline, then transfers can still go through. thus, we may still have at least someone on the way.
