Worse still, 12 games left. Not a chance will we get the points to stay up. We’ve 26 points, and need around 40 points. We have to play Liverpool,
we now have 27 points vat & earned a very good point at liverpool who you quoted as one of the teams we would lose against. :naughty:
vat 69 i am not getting carried away with one win. had we have lost yesterday then i would have been confident that that was that! but be honest, a win renews optimism & belief. even amongst the players.
i would like us playing like we have done in the past 2 games with a bit of fight & determination. if we still end up going down at least we would have done so fighting.
in my opinion we should have signed al habsi in january.
i am a fan of wigan athletic THE football club & have been for 32 years. i have never been a darksider but in all honesty i just cannot see us picking up more than 10 points in the last 13 games. i really do hope i’m wrong, but we have lost valuable points in the games against fulham, villa & now west brom. for any chance of survival i would have liked at least 6 points from those games but we only picked up 2. i’m sorry, but i think the dream is over unless we play the next 13 games like 13 cup finals & score 1 more goal than the opposition.
bill – spot on. but i’m living in runcorn now – for last 7 years. still go to the games. you probably remember now – always latics mad me!! :D
mc goose – it was either freddie pye or bill kenyon.
keep guessing bill. i worked on bread aisle for quite some time. i wear specs if thats any help.
billatic – i worked there between 1990 – 1993, starting off on trolleys then onto fresh food/bread dept. taking into account the first part of your name – was you the butcher by any chance.
ah yes. i forgot about freddie pye.
always remember years ago when i was working at morrisons in the galleries, bill kenyon coming to me asking where do we sell our buckets. he was probably buying them for the fans to chuck their hard earned cash into trying to save our club.
Asking for trouble…..what do you mean?????????????????????
one robbed us of our freight rover money, the other almost robbed us from our town.welcome to the gang
the man is a nasty little gobsh1te, but i would have someone like him at the moment. might inject a bit of fight into the team.

In the week when females’ knowledge of football has been brought into question all hail Sandra, the last caller on Wish FM last night.Sandra told the JCL Boo Boys to “Get real”, “stop jeering”, pointed out that “we are Wigan Atheletic and can’t afford to spend £24 mill on a striker” and get behind the boys.
What a lovely change from the whining nannies who had texted their ridiculous one-liners into the programme.
Sandra was correct, on the whole Latics put in an excellent performance last night. A million times better than the Arsenal game. McCarthy, McArthur and di Santo were outstanding. Charlie tried a bit too hard and if Hugo had been wearing his shooting boots we would have won.
There were mistakes that led to the goals, and that is exactly what Villa were waiting for. But our performance in the last 15 minutes merited at least an equaliser. With a bit more luck we would have scored. And let’s face it Villa will score a lot more goals this season.
I realise a few of you pay your money to cry and whinge but you are letting yourselves and the club down. People around me who slagged off McCarthy when he was tiring in the second half need a talking to.
The ones who jeered the team off at half time know nothing about football. At half time the only thing I could see was us getting something out of the game and imaging how good we would be if we could call on Victor and Tom Cleverly, who are both injured.
My favourite moment was when the braind-deads who had been asking for subs, jeered when Bobby made changes. The changes made a difference. Calum Mac is not ready to come on and change games. Who would we have taken off? Charlie? Hugo? Di Santo?
It looks like we are going down after six great years in the Prem, but I do have mixed feelings because spending the rest of lives at the bottom of the Prem is not a healthy situation for the supporters or players. We will rebuild and win games in the Championship, and we will continue to attract good young players.
I will continue to support Bob and the team until and when we go down. If we win this weekend and get behind the boys and end the season fighting then I will be happy.
And I love Sandra on Wish FM last night. A true fan
very good & positive post. :D
