oh well! here’s me hoping my original post would start a reasonable discussion amongst adults. with all due respect its become the griff .v. loudmouthblue show. your both on the wrong site. you should both be on jeremy kyle.
*Remembers time when following Latics was so bad under Swain that an action page in the programme once had a picture of Mick Kennedy taking a throw-in[/quote]

some interesting points there lowey. personally, i think we’ve created a lot more scoring opportunities than what we did last season – maybe because the players are becoming more used to the system. however, i do believe that what we lack is a finisher, which in time, i think boselli will be. but in football it is about NOW as opposed to the future – when it may be too late!!
it was a shock & a half when i was reading the match report on teletext this morning. RIP john.
ooh aah donny page.
i even bought the t-shirt :D
micky c, that tackle by keane still shocks me even to this day. has to be the worst tackle ever.
mark wignall’s lob against chelsea – early 80’s.
my first game was our very 1st game in the football league back in 1978 when i was 6. don’t remember too much of the game, but the crowd & all of their chants for some reason. on that day i stood at the bit of the ground where they put them grey caravan looking objects in the late 80’s/early 90’s (what were they anyway??). i was a regular until moving to the jjb in the popular stand. so by my reckoning, this is my 32nd year as a supporter.
i was only thinking of him the other day strangely enough. RIP michael.
i used to play for poolstock labour club, before it changed to the beer engine for about 13 years, followed by 6-7 years with the poacher. then my wife dragged me to bloody runcorn.
Definetly had the chances today.. Boselli the main culprit who should have done better. But do feel a little sorry for the lad he tried and worked his socks off just had 1 of those days. When he was walking off you could see the disapointment in his face he was dieing 2 score, and obviously felt he let the team down. I wouldnt like the fans to start using him as the scape goat as they did with Scotland im sure he’l come good. Hopefully his 1st goal wont take long… Another great game for Al Habsi who looks so comfortable in goal, he had no chance against Gyan’s stike though. Alcaraz looks like the man we have missed seems to have found his rythym again and was so confortable, won nearly every header aswell. I couldnt see the goal properly but he definetly deserved it he was our MOM.
Franco Di Santo….. Im so glad we have signed him, from what i saw in 35mins this lad had everything, skills, pace, ability to win the ball, strength and he looks really creative. He looks like our best signing in allong while, a real breathe of fresh air. I feel Diame and Mccarthy need to up there fitness rates, i know there allover the place working hard and i think there fantastic players. It just seems as soon as the 70min mark comes these 2 start flagging. It was Diame’s tiredness that lead to the goal he should have dealt with Henderson. Also Mccarthy got a little sloppy near the end of the game, a few miss passes. Stam also seemed really energetic looks a good player, loves to cut inside though, he played well in his wrong position… There keeper was there MOM and Steve Bruce acts like a little girl on the touchline, should have heard him moaning!! Was funny when Mensah couldnt find his top….Id carry on but id assume most of you are bored by now, just my views of the game, was quite enjoyable to be honesttotally agree with everything you say there. couldn’t have put it better myself.
listened to the game yesterday on wish (yes you can get it in runcorn) & watched the game on football first. what i liked about the game was that there was passion, commitment & a seemingly willingness to want to play for the club, which i felt has been missing for some time. now beginning to wonder if a certain french international was to blame all along (as has been posted elsewhere).
blueneon – i remember that game very well against mansfield. our window cleaners were latics fans & i recall were quite chuffed when he got sacked. didn’t barrow play a similar formation to bobby as well with the 1 man up front – notably mark leonard.
might have heard wrong on this one, but was one of the reasons he got sacked was because whelan thought barrow couldn’t take the club forward.
i was also surprised when barrow came back actually.23 August 2010 at 1:44 pm in reply to: Transfer news, paper talk, who you want – get it all in here #43746franco, di santo, salcido, stephen caldwell & another player whose name i can’t remember are all due to sign this week.
if we are still transforming, maybe they can turn it into a blockbuster film. alltogether now:
“transformers – footballers in disguise.”   -
