wtf was that. just got back from the game (i’m still in wigan btw) & felt i had to post straight away. i admit to being a fan of martinez last season & sticking up for him, but after that shambles i am really dreading the rest of the season. no disrepect to blackpool, but they carved us open time & again to the point where they could have won by 8. i am dreading chelsea, spurs in the next 2 games. could lightning strike twice??
i’m sorry to admit, but i booed at half time & at full time – having never booed in my life, & certainly never after the first game.
should i have waited a couple of hours before posting when i may have calmed down??
this is my 32nd season now as a supporter and although we have lost many times on the opening day, its never bothered me. but looking at the first few fixtures we could be rock bottom with -25 goal difference.
I REALLY HOPE I’M PROVED WRONG & THIS IS JUST A ONE OFF!!all being well, i’ll be there in my usual seat. :D
Why compare players out the 3rd and 4th division, to so called prem stars, at least the prem failed stars have had chance to prove them selves.
Point was, some of our fans don’t know they are f**kin born, these days.[/quote]
i agree with you on that one vat69. i also remember the likes of pat gavin, lee rogerson, paladino, andy pilling (debatable??), etc etc.. should so a list of the worst players ever to play for wigan.
i’ve never heard of A.Trialist, but i have heard of A.N. Other. :D
got home from work at 7pm & mine was there waiting for me.
swampdog, what does  mean??????
no seriously,i think we’ll do alright this season & am actually looking forward to it.
i have a gut feeling we’ll do alright & finish round about 12th.
oh well looks like its serbias number 1 then.
seriously though i think kingson has done well.both kits don’t look too bad. the away kit especially looks like the one we used to wear a few seasons back in the championship.
alex cribley hardly ever missed his penalties – in fact, didn’t he finish as 3rd best penalty taker in the whole of the football league back in ’87.
congratulations fluff- spot on.
the 3 to go down will be blackpool, wba & wolves i think.
we will finish between 11th – 15th.
top 4 will be in no particular order:
man utd
chelsea
arsenal
city/spurs – can’t make up my mind between those 2your all wrong so far.
i remember him scoring the goal & the announcer said that this was wigans 1000th goal in the league. yes, it was in the 90’s, but was after daley & page. keep trying.
my memories of springy were the:
1) fans changing ends at half time to where latics were attacking
2) the “charge” or mad rush at the end of the game.
3) the toilets! (?)
4) sitting on my dads shoulders to see the game & pi55ing off the people behind us.springy will always have memories, now its the dw to create memories of its own.
sorry garswood, not sure how to do links.
duke, thats a good point. i was perhaps getting a tad too excited
