pskl, i agree with you on that one that jewell had the problem with the players he inherited, but he WON that battle then took us onto greater things. somehow, i can’t see martinez, jones & barrow winning the battle with our ‘international world cup stars’.
mmmmmmmmmmm! i was one of the ‘for’ martinez brigade last season, but i agree with a lot of posts on here & on other forums in that there does seem to be nothing learned at all from last season. i was very concerned today about the lack of ideas, passion & committment.
its funny, but me & my sister were talking about the same thing today. reminded me of that boro fan who did the same thing to mc claren.
Lets get real boys and girls, its the first game FFS.
Like I said in another post, this time last year we had just beaten Villa and quite easy at that. We then went on to fight out a relegation battle and villa went on to fight out a CL spot. I wonder if the villa fans were talking like you set of tworts are?. :xDon’t get me wrong, that was utter shyte today, but 3 pish poor goal keeping errors coupled with some poor finishing early on, against a team steaming from last season and bulging with passion, has cost us dearly.
i’ve calmed dow n now, still shellshocked i admit, but that is a good & valid point you raised jrfatfan. there’s always next week!
wtf was that. just got back from the game (i’m still in wigan btw) & felt i had to post straight away. i admit to being a fan of martinez last season & sticking up for him, but after that shambles i am really dreading the rest of the season. no disrepect to blackpool, but they carved us open time & again to the point where they could have won by 8. i am dreading chelsea, spurs in the next 2 games. could lightning strike twice??
i’m sorry to admit, but i booed at half time & at full time – having never booed in my life, & certainly never after the first game.
should i have waited a couple of hours before posting when i may have calmed down??
this is my 32nd season now as a supporter and although we have lost many times on the opening day, its never bothered me. but looking at the first few fixtures we could be rock bottom with -25 goal difference.
I REALLY HOPE I’M PROVED WRONG & THIS IS JUST A ONE OFF!!all being well, i’ll be there in my usual seat. :D
Why compare players out the 3rd and 4th division, to so called prem stars, at least the prem failed stars have had chance to prove them selves.
Point was, some of our fans don’t know they are f**kin born, these days.
i agree with you on that one vat69. i also remember the likes of pat gavin, lee rogerson, paladino, andy pilling (debatable??), etc etc.. should so a list of the worst players ever to play for wigan.
i’ve never heard of A.Trialist, but i have heard of A.N. Other. :D
got home from work at 7pm & mine was there waiting for me.
swampdog, what does  mean??????
no seriously,i think we’ll do alright this season & am actually looking forward to it.
i have a gut feeling we’ll do alright & finish round about 12th.
oh well looks like its serbias number 1 then.
seriously though i think kingson has done well.both kits don’t look too bad. the away kit especially looks like the one we used to wear a few seasons back in the championship.
alex cribley hardly ever missed his penalties – in fact, didn’t he finish as 3rd best penalty taker in the whole of the football league back in ’87.
congratulations fluff- spot on.
