Barcelona , Athletic Bilbao and now Wigan Athletic have all applied the same principal’s to their game which allowed them to completely dominate for 90 minutes against IMO one of the best teams in the world.

But the part where you mention Di Santo as a lone striker has already been put to bed by Martinez who wanted everyone to realise we dont play with a lone striker we play with 3 up front.

And I am just gloating a bit as Roberto is now repaying the faith that I had in him as a manager (the best young manager in europe).
Obviously you could’nt smell a good manager if he was right under your nose in your own club.
But I do think that this is arguably one of our best results in the “look how far we have come” category…
And to summarise I’ve read your dribble through the bad times and you can now read mine through the good.

He made mistakes for both team, the disallowed goal, the corner, Figgy’s handball, not sending off Evens, possibly Welbeck’s penalty claim etc. But he was poor for both teams, and after having so many decisions go against us over teh years, especially against big clubs, isn’t it only fair we got away with a couple last night.Nobody asked for your opinion as far as I’m aware.

I have mentioned that if this is to carry on then no autographs and posing for pics as eventually the players WILL get sick of it. I was berated for suggesting that ! Like many it is not for me but if these happy clappers want to carry on then fine. Eventually the numbers will dwindle and it will die out but in the mean time like those copper bracelets some people wear for rheumatism, if you think it works then fine by me !

What you think of the performances of the team and especially Roberto as of late LMB?

We’ll have to agree to disagree Salfordhaving someone on the touchline with an ipad could never do a better job than somone out in the middle of the pitch when it comes to refereeing a game of football. They may got some decisions right that the current officials get wrong but there is far more that would harm the game
Even your suggestion of a 5th official communicating from the stands to the ref isn’t as simple as it sounds. If they pick up somet that the ref missed & the players aren’t happy with try then explaining what the hell you’ve awarded & why with up to 22 players screaming at you on top of the crowd. Again it becomes obvious who is making the decisions & your player control disappears.
if there is ever video technology it has to be the ref who refers things to it & if it is then you get your stop/start 2 hour game scenarioFair play Tyldsley

I think the performances recently have been of the highest level since Roberto took over at the club and way above that of last season providing a solid foundation that can be built upon.
Last season alot of the credit has to go to the way N’Zogbia played individually…
We are currently by no means as one dimensional and reliant on a fairly unreliable player to win games.

Roberto & the players deserve as much credit for the recent up turn in form as they deserved any stick that came their way prior to February.
I’d disagree that it can be said they are finally coming good though until it continues over into next season (whatever division they are in). IMO last season’s similar up turn was to do with far more than N’Zogbia. You had a back 4 that became far more robust & in midfield Ben Watson was outstanding at times. Diame’s form returned & Bobby tried out different formations (all with 1 up front of course!!! ;) )[/quote]

(even though I pretty much just did)Still plent of work to be done of course but IMO we are playing the best football under Roberto at the moment.

As I said, it’s not my cup of tea at all but if someone wants to do it whether they’re 5 or 55 I couldn’t care less – in all honesty though I doubt that it has made one jot of difference to the players & their performances on the pitch. Yes it would be better than people turning up lobbing poo at em but at the end of the day there’s 2 & a quarter hours between tonight’s meet & greet & kick off. During which time they’ll have done warm ups, received treatment on any knocks, had their team talk from the management, walked out in front of 20 odd thousand people, done the handshake & soaked up the pre-kick off atmosphere. The meet & greet will be so far from their minds at that point. Bobby saying it helps is more likely a PR exercise on his behalf to make the fans who do it feel wanted & encourage more people to join this & at the same time keep the possibility of anti-protests taking place.

If you were there you would have seen the players were obviously very happy to receive a such a welcome ( except Kirkland who looked very unhappy )
Surely this transpires to the thought that when they step onto the pitch that they want to put that extra ounce of effort for the fans who stick by them through thick and thin!!!
Football is all about getting behind your team and your team giving you something to get behind them about …
It was referred to as a catch 22 on here not long ago.
If you dont think the meet and greets help then you must be of the same thought that cheering the players on during the game doesnt help.
Letting someone know you are behind them in numbers will spurr them on its called motivation and if the fans can provide even just a little bit of that for the players then FAIR PLAY

Have never ref’d a game in my life and I know they have a hard job I am not debating that but if someone stood on the touchline can do a better job with an Ipad in his hand then let em do it.
I’m a great beleiver that you shouldnt fix something that is not broke.
That is obviously not the case here.
But all this slowing the game down for me is utter tosh, it takes a matter of seconds and if you had a 5th official who’s job was to sit there and watch the game on telly surely it would only add another dimension of sight to the referee’s ability to make the correct decision via a quick conversation over the walky talky headset thingy.
