That’s coz he was $h!t ;) ;)
He wasn’t the best, even at that level, but I will be forever grateful for that goal to put us all out of our misery. Not the worst gane of football I’ve ever watched but it’s definitely in the top one!
Paul Rodgers.
Another player who was never a favorite with the fans.In Graeme Jones’ world at that time he would’ve had to have been carried off with a broken leg for it to be a penalty.
He’s probably mellowed a bit since then!
Don’t worry Sammy, we Milk Monitors then got made hymn book monitors – just to seal our fate.Which allowed you sing all the right words to “Fight The Good Fight” as you got your head kicked in.
Dave, I’ll back you up on this. I started school in 1974 and was still getting milk when I got to juniors in 1977. I remember this because I was Milk Monitor.
So she put you out of work at a early age as well the bitch
My tenure as Milk Monitor didn’t last long to be fair. I hid a milk bottle in a desk and it spilled ruining a couple of Peter & Jane books.I was already out of work by the time the role was made redundant.
With the added bonus of one less teachers pet to get beaten at playtime! ;)she didnt murder anyone did sheGoogle ‘belgrano’ lolDraw you own conclusions:-
http://belgranoinquiry.com/Anyway, they won’t be stupid enough to do it.Oh I don’t know. We are talking about the FA here!
That fact the site administrator felt the need to post this appeal for restraint speaks volumes.
At the risk of sounding like Bobby, yesterday really was one of those games where the opposition going down to 10 men works against you – up to that point I thought that it was an open game with Latics looking slightly the better side & the only worry was when that Townsend ran at the defence.
When Zamora got sent off QPR just packed everybody back into the last 30 yards of the pitch whenever Latics got the ball & when a team does that Bobby’s system & style of play can start to look laboured coz you can have all the possession in the world but when there’s little or no space for people to run in to then it winds up being constant sideways passing, shots from distance, midfielders getting frustrated & giving the ball away as they look to thread through narrow gaps.
It’s up to the manager to then try & alter things but IMHO I think the change in system came a bit late & the player who got replaced (Beausejour) was possibly the only player who seemed to be finding any sort of spaceI thought it was strange in that he replaced both wide men in Beausejour* and McManaman when the best way to try and overcome that type of defending is to get round the back by taking players on down the wings, getting to the by-line and putting the crosses in.
* waits for the inevitable and predictable flack
Todays daily star gives McCarthy as man of the match and rates him a 9.Yet some of you are slating him on here.
I understand the point you’re making but does anybody really take any notice of these ratings. It is after all very subjective.
It was a poor performance yesterday with no one player standing out.
well to be fair the pitch looked foooking awfull ball was bouncing awfull
maybe a plan to spoil our football by harry ?Did they play a rugby game on it the day before?
I AM one of those knockers and stats don’t lie, but they also don’t provide a full picture either.Yes he gets crosses in, but 9/10 they are to the back of the box or towards the 18 yard line.
I can count on one hand how many times he has took his man on and got to the line to put in a telling cross on or around the 6 yard line/penalty spot, which is where the damage is going to be done.
I just wish he would have he good 5 minutes/game spell in the first 1/3 of the game so we can get somebody else on who will do it for the rest of the game….
I’m not arguing he’s anything special, because he’s obviously not. However, I don’t believe he deserves the stick he gets from many on this board. Enough of his crosses are in the right place because more of them are converting into goals than anybody else’s. He put a nice ball at the feet of McManaman on Saturday only for it to be wasted.
You can call up all the stats and surveys you want George but to some he’s still a “fat waster on the wing” and nothing will convice them otherwise.
OK, I’ll have a go.
Overrated – Al Habsi
Underrated – BeausejourShould read goole not googleI though it was joke along with Great Hardwood.
You’ve spoiled it a bit now.
