When you look at this, look at the leap in attendances in 2004. Where were all those extra people hiding in the 90s or even 2003?
Glory hunting plastics.
Maybe due to the fact that they moved from the 35,000 Maine Road to the 55,000 City of Manchester in 2003?
My grandson for the last ten minutes

Will there be a Friday game?
There’s only 4 ties.Looks like it was 19,242, so the originator of the competition seems to have won :)
Fix!!
The company owned by Stanley Choi is listed on the HK Stock Exchange. Nothing at all can be said until the deal, if any, is formally announced to them, and that will only be done when every i is dotted and every t crossed.
The announcement the other week was quite proper in informing the Stock Exchange that formal negotiations had started, and the technicality was that Latics agreed not to talk to any one else before 14 February and Choi’s company had the chance to put their bid forward. That’s all. If there were no other bidders anyway then the point is irrelevant.
We will hear nothing at all (to protect anyone involved from accusations of insider dealing) until everything is sorted, and who knows how long that will take.
We will just have to sit and wait.
No-one is going to say anything – so if “your mate’s cat’s hairdresser knows someone down the pub who says …” it’s rubbish.
Insider dealing is a very very serious offence across the world.“We’ll beat Man City with a Will Grigg goal …”
I wouldn’t normally link anything to the Mail, but this is actually not a bad read
And what worries me the most, is the gloating look on the faces of not just the rugby fans, but of those “wigan born” fans who choose to support the bigger clubs when the club is in the mire. Both sets of people would happily take great pride in seeing the demise of the towns football club.I remember all too well when folk walked around springfield park with buckets.
We are looking at being taken over by a group with money – a situation loads of other clubs would be so happy and optimistic about – and you are worried about what may might happen, and then go further into what people will think when something may happen following something that hasn’t yet happened. :)
Wiganers!!
You save to Groats if you have them printed off at home.
I’ll blame the booze I’ve had jr for not understanding this one [/quote]
“To groats” = “two groats” = two pounds
They do sometimes take a little while, and check your “spam” folder just in case
You should get an email with the tickets attached. I would contact the club on Monday morning if you haven’t received it.
I’ve done this quite a few times before and always received a confirmation email almost immediately then another shortly after with the tickets attached. You can then print them off on A4 paper and follow the dotted lines to fold. The barcode needs to be flat.Yep – that’s my experience too
I think this thread has lost the plot, never mind Cook! You’d prefer that we wait to see what people said that they had said – without ever saying it? ;)
Well, who’d have thowt it, Little Wigan beating Man City again. They really don’t like playing us.
We were very lucky with the woodwork coming to our resue early on, and that penalty save from Walton was the turning point. Aguero couldn’t have hit it better, how Walton got to it was unbelivable.
I don’t know what the ref saw when he sent De Bryune, and Ageuro off after 15 minutes, but he did us a huge favour and it was a bit more even after that.
Powell showed that he is PL class with those two volleyed top corner rockets and Grigg put his penalty away superbly.
It was also great to see Perkins coming off the bench and giving the keeper no chance as he rose like a salmon to plant that bullet like header into the roof of the net.
4-0 to Wigan was a fair result on the night, and we go marching on, with the vast majority of the 24,000 fans going home very happy indeed.
League One Champions and FA Cup Winners 2018 anyone? It is certainley a possibility now.
Come on Wigan!!!I was completely with you until you said “the vast majority of the 24,000 fans going home very happy indeed. ” We all know that’s not going to be true with a Wigan win :D
How about we post comments NOW about the City game; praises, brickbats, criticisms and rave reviews.
Let’s do it now, and we can see really who thought what before the game.I’ll even start.
“Well, we knew it was going to be an uphill struggle but the lads did well, and created a good few chances. In the end we were beaten by one if the best teams in Europe, but made them fight for it. No-one played badly, but we are two (_and some would argue that in the PL there is a league within a league so we are 3) steps below them and have gained great kudos by how we aproached it.
But the League is now our objective, and after our recent blips we are well on the way again”So come on. Don’t tell us after the event what you thought. Tell us now.
Many people still don’t realise that those sports bras the players wear are actually holders for the tracking devices that all players wear.
