If I was a young lad at City, then yes I would leave if a nearby Premier League club came in for me. Just think of the amount of first team chances he’d get at City, then compare it to the chances he’d get at Wigan. City can go out and but a player twice as good as Onouha, and I think deep down the lad knows that he will have to leave. So why not a team like us?

Richards isn’t playing well, and if he can get a chance in the side and prove himself, he’ll stay. City are on the up and up, and if you were a young player there, you’d want to be part of it, at least for the time being until the door was firmly shut in your face.

As bobbygee said, there will be several other clubs who’d be higher on his list of possible suitors than us.

I think Mario is okay. Not brilliant, but he’s not a bad player. If we need a decent replacement, yet again it would have to be a young Championship player, or a little heard of foreign type.

If we were splashing some cash, I’d go for Steven Whittaker from Rangers. Reliable, good going forward, and has scored some cracking goals (look up the one he scored against Sporting in the UEFA Cup two seasons ago). Unfortunately, if anyone tempted him south, I’m sure it would be a bigger prospect than us.

    All five? No chance.

Rangel and Neill would be the only two who’d consider it.

Young may consider movng to someone like us in a couple of years, and Alan Hutton saw Villa as a step down from Rangers, and only went for the money. Not a cat in hell’s chance he’s consider us.

Onuoha? If you were a young lad, would you leave City at present?

    Gents

Each to your own, but I do not think there is too much football on TV, not can there ever be for my liking.

Primarily, I am a Latics supporters and secondly, I’m a football fan. I will watch football no matter who is playing and no matter what competition it is.

As long as people in Korea and Japan (etc) want to watch the Prem, the money will always be there, and the English game will always be on TV, and that’s what funds our game. If they didn’t watch us, they’d watch the Italians, Spanish or even the Germans, so let’s be happy about it and carry on taking their money and keeping some of the world’s best players in our league.

I quite like Collymore on Talksport. Talks a lot of sense at times.

And, he’s well respected in dogging circles.

They don’t have a Head Coach at Sunderland. Eric Black or Keith Bertschin is the nearest you’ll get. Was it either of them?
If not, I think you’ve been wound up mate.

Why would they buy Kirkland when they’ve got Fulop and Gordon, and why would they need Hugo when they’ve got Campbell, Jones, and Bent?

First of all massive congrats to you and your family and best wishes.

I know a few people that say theyv’e named their little uns after tics, David after David Lowe, Mike after Mike Newell and Anthony after Tony Kelly. Out of the current crop, Robert(o) Martin(ez) can’t be a bad shout for fist and middle name, Charles, Thomas (Hendry), You said you can’t twist the missus’ arm on Hugo but what about Rodney. legendary players from recentish years that could be decent names, Leighton, Stuart (Barlow), Lee (mac), Nathan or Jason, Jimmy (Bully), No Arjan but what about Harry. You could go on and on.

I watched that Slumdog Millionaire tother day and that girl in it has got a crackin name Latika, just change the K to a C and yer Laughing.

Just sent you a message mate. Fantastic bit of info if it happens….

    Progress

I’m in WS7, and we are usually a miserable bunch, but on Saturday, even the most dour folk around me joined in with the singing.

One of the happiest people I saw was the Egyptian doctor who sits on the row in front. When the final whistle went, he leapt into the air, and left ground high-fiving everyone along the row. Quality!

I know, sorry about that mate!

Put it this way, they were that sure of him joining that he was on the rooming list for the hotel they’re staying at this weekend.

Nothing about the manager or players circulating about. The rumours are that the Chief Exec and owner can’t stand each other despite all that’s being said in the press etc, and it will all come to head in the next few weeks.

I always thought St. Mirren was 2.5 miles up the A94 from Raith.

But ‘cos it was Mutty I couldn’t be arsed replying.

BTW, I too spent a lot of time in Renfrew, working at Hillington.

Drove past Hillington Industrial Estate often enough.

I was based mostly at the airport, but stayed at the Glynhill in Renfrew. Tended not to venture out too often.

Made me laugh at the St Mirren game when some of the Wigan ‘yoof’ were calling them ‘Soft Scottish B@@@@’.

They’ve obviously never been to Paisley, as Beverley Hills it certainly is not!

On 7 Mar 2009, they beat Celtic in the Quarter Final of the Scottish Cup. This was 7 days after they lost 0-7 to Celtic.

For a club of St Mirren’s size to beat a club of Celtic’s size is some achievement – you would think that such a result would put the club and the area on the map.

As it took over 12 hours for a correct response, it appears that such a monumental result didnt register in Wigan, let alone Holland, Germany, South Korea or Easter Island.

Now, whilst I understand that you beating Chelsea is a cracking result, does it really put the football club on the World map so that the name of Wigan Athletic is now on the lips of Koi-Toi Wok in Seoul? I would argue that the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge when Tommy Gore scored, or even the 4-2 win in the league cup were far more “earth-shattering” results.

Just putting things into perspective. You got 3 points for Saturday, just as you did for beating West Ham. Same as you’ll get for turning over Fake Tan’s Hull side.

Again – well done though. Its always nice to see Chelsea lose!

    Mutty

Sorry, I didn’t see your post. I could have told you in a second where St Mirren play as I used to spend an ‘awful’ lot of time in Renfrew.

I’d agree that their defeat of Celtic was as fantastic an achievement as us beating Chelsea (theirs was bettered only by Inverness’ come-back victory over Celtic, which gave perhaps the greatest back page headline ever: ‘Super Caley Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious’), but it must be put into perspective.

Celtic v St Mirren was not watched by millions worldwide. It would have had a large worldwide TV audience, but those viewers would have been predominantly Scottish, people with Scottish descendents, Scottish ex-pats, and Irish. All these people would have already been fully aware of who and where St Mirren is.

Wigan v Chelsea WAS watched by millions worldwide. A majority tuned in to watch Chelsea, but watched them beaten by the Premier League’s smallest club. A lot of these viewers will now be aware of Wigan, if they were not already.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Wigan is now firmly on the map, but there will many more people globally who will now have heard of Wigan, and will be aware that we have a decent team and play some good football.

For the record, I’d disagree that Wigan Athletic will be unknown to ‘Koi-Toi Wok’. We have a Korean international in the squad. If we are not known to him, we’ll probably be known to one of his mates.

A week long one-man shag fest with the hosts of ‘Loose Women’. It would be like a porno pic ‘n mix: bit of something to suit every taste.

Think I need a lie down.

’It’s All In My Mind’ – Teenage Fanclub. A not-new band that are well worth a listen.

A hot NEW band ya say…..They have been going just short of 20yr !! Not really my scene these, as they are a bit mainstream ( Consumer friendly ! ) an therefore will have moved away from what they originally set out to do due to record label pressure. Better than a lot of rubbish that was about in early 90s though so I can understand why a lot of students were drawn to their music !
Ps. I have just noticed a typo that could get you off on a technicality Standish ![/quote]

It’s not a typo Fimoss, that’s why it’s hyphenated! (Do you really think I’d use the word ‘hot’ in that context?!)

You’re right about the student thing. Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, PWEI, Carter USM, Ride – same old same old. Teenage Fanclub were streets ahead.

I wonder if our greedy chairman is ruing the chance of making a quick buck now, If he goes you must be talking around the 14m mark. You might stick hold a bit longer next time Dave.

It was pointless holding out as the lad didn’t want to play for us anymore.
