Well Mr Whelan has agreed to sell and the deal has to be completed by the 14th. So come next Thursday we should have new owners and all will become clear.
Announced at the Blackpool game with a farewell from Whelan?
And in that break A BRAND NEW pitch is laid
Well that makes it even worse then Egg because the brand new pitch hasn’t got time to establish in so short a period.
It works for every other football club across the country.
The rugby only start playing back at home in July usually which is when Latics would be playing friendlies if it was a one use stadium.

26 fat gets who haven’t been on it since August.
Plenty of dual pitches in pretty good condition around the country.
Saints played their FIRST game of the season last week and the pitch was a mess even before kick off. Who plays on it every other week in winter? Some football reserve side. Maybe it’s football that ruins it? I’ll leave that to the experts.
A young lass who lives across the road from my dad is dating one of Wigan Athletics groundsmen. He is a latics fan but admitted that football games cause far more damage to the pitch than rugby!
The groundsman told me this as well. Said that if you go home and throw yourself all over your lawn you won’t do too much damage. You kick a football off the floor with wet grass wearing studs/blades and you will bring up blades of grass every time.
Even pitches that have no rugby on them tend to have areas around the goals and the halfway line that are a bit dodgy. As Tyldesley says, rugby would ruin the entire pitch and not just patches. They don’t even scrummage in league so that takes away the chunks that happen on union pitches.
The DW pitch is nakerd because of where it’s built and the fact it wasn’t raised like it was advised to do because it would have cost too much money.
All of them have too much play on them. All need to be rested and maintained in summer and not just for a few weeks. Our pitch has fantastic drainage or does all that water that gets sprayed on there just vanish.
Just repeat what I said the other day it is neither football or Rugbys fault, it is overplay. Its just unfortunate that Rugby is played in the summer when the pitch and those millions of little turf grass plants need to be nurtured and encouraged to grow. But the rugby DON’T play on it though Donny. That’s the point.
Probably right there dnr.
I agree with the parents not being able to shout things jr. Thats what coaches are for.
Fair enough, but a bit of encoragement from a parent to their child?, we shout at the pros, man on!, ger it in row z! etc etc. Same thing only more grown up. Far too regimental at an early age for me, and the stats prove that very few of these 10 year olds make it their teens before being fired off. So the system is not working, even for the big clubs who have the cream of the crop to pick from.
I guess, but kids are more likely to take their parents on than their coach i would say and plenty parents would try telling little jonny what to do as opposed to encouraging him.
Probably right there dnr.

Didn’t we win our case?
Totally agree. A local kids football club was bragging a couple of weeks ago that one of their under 6’s had just been invited to train at Man United. Now, I’ve 2 lads who are decent players. One is 11 and one is 9. Both have flirted with playing with teams. But both have been put off with the absolute bull#### that even surrounds local kids football. You have to sign up standing orders to pay £20 a month. You have to do this, you have to do that. I’ve seen 10 year olds wearing £100 boots… Ridiculous. I’ve seen 9 year olds turning up with 4 different pairs of boots. The clubs even buy their own ground now and build artificial pitches! It’s all a little bit too serious and pompous for my liking.Sounds like you’ve been put off there more than them. Not sure an 11 or 9 year old would understand or care about any of that.
You’re right though it is a joke. Winstanley have bought Little Lane somehow and built 5-a-side pitches. No more going for a kick about with your mates on the field.
Could be what keeps them up that

A pretty wealthy guy/company it seems.
My big concern is what they will do once they have spent a few quid and we haven’t made it back to the Prem.
I blame the rugby for that game they played 5 months ago when the pitch was in tip top condition.
Just don’t see it with Colclough personally. Goes down easier than a Bolton prozzy.
Ryan Coco Colclough had a blinder before getting injuredDid he?
