I remember going in the Phoenix Stand with my Granddad on a Tuesday night match as a kid, and being offered cushioned pads for your seats (for an extra charge). I also remember on a few occasions these pads being launched from the stand at the referee at full time.
I used to sit in the end seat next to the tunnel as a kid. Think it’s where I first learned to abuse match officials. They used to take some frightful abuse from some of the older generation sat around me. Good job it was the family stand really.
Yes he did, double standards again!No…..he didn’t. He was banned for several reasons but that has nothing to do with anyone else.
We need to win and hope that Burton get a win at Bristol. If we can get out the bottom three then that puts pressure on Blackburn to win their game in hand.
Our reserve and youth side always seems to be pretty successful. Bodes well for the future especially if we do go down and return to the abyss.
Martinez helped us just to survive, then just happened to be manager when we won the FA Cup.
Jewell played football how it should be played, knew how to motivate a team, and made a brown leather jacket actually look cool.Martinez helped us just to survive three times, then just happened to be manager when we finally beat Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, and battered Newcastle 4-0 at home in what I regard as the finest display of football from a Wigan team that I’ve ever seen.
Jewell on the other hand played football how it should be played, apart from when he deliberately set up to draw at Anfield – explaining ‘If we had gone to Liverpool and tried to attack and lost 4-0 or 5-0 then I would be kicking myself’
And then, when he publicly stated that he wrote off games against the top four teams.
And he was so adept at motivating a team that he was relegated with Derby on a record low Premier League points tally after failing to win a single game, and sacked after a half a season at Ipswich after he managed only one win.
But I agree: his jacket was nice. ;)
Did f*** all at Sheff Wednesday as well
The silence from the club is a worry but then again if this is a medical issue and not the rumours that have been jumped upon then it isn’t something that Warren Joyce will want plastering all over the net.
You in WS5 Sammy ?
I too saw the bloke screaming at the directors box and pointing at Joyce, screaming for him to be sacked …..apoplectic probably covers it , I thought he was about to
Have a ‘funny turn’Yes. His seat is not far in front of mine. I got the full frontal view. I though he was about to explode.
And they say there’s no passion in the West Stand….!
That wasn’t the Jimmy Savile lookalike was it?
How unfortunate
Ban him Jason, JammyC got banned for a lot less than that last week!No he didn’t
You can’t please a Wiganer. If we won the Premier League some people would complain it wasn’t by enough points.
Sounds like you’re describing your rugby mates there Egg. the vast majority of latics fans are very down to earth.
Nope. Definitely happens at Latics too. Some people have this strange belief that we are a Premier League team.
That will be like watching grass grow then! :)No different to watching us then really. Well, other than the grass growing.
Maybe things will be rosy from here on in.

I’ve never understood why the grass gets cut really short once the rugby season is over. It just rips up and ends up being a total mess once the rains come. Leave a bit of length to it and see what happens.
I must admit I was worried when I saw the bit on the news when the warriors won the two country club challenge. It was very muddy in the try area, which I guess is our 6 yard and corner areas.I guess we will see tomorrow
The in-goal area is behind the football goals. The try line is basically the dead ball line. They always end up crappy because the groundsman doesn’t work on them in the football season and you get people using that area to warm up. On the pic below you can see the D under the lads leg.

BTW – there are 4 Countries in it ;)
I was in the South on Sunday so not sure how that stand is normally set out, but they were selling both food and alcohol from the same kiosk which is way better than before where you would have to queue twice for a pie and a pint.
At the main food kiosk they had bottled beer and at the main beer kiosk they had pies in a small oven.
Dont understand why they dont build a stadium closer to their fan base in bolton or chorley
Spoke to a few wearing cherry and shyte._just asking where in wigan are you from reply i got did not surprise me out of say 12 people not one was from wigan but bolton or chorley and horwichThere was a guy complaining on Facebook from f***** York. Glory hunting p****. People from Chorley, Bolton or Horwich tend to support their local rugby team by supporting Wigan, but a guy from York??????????????
