The financial gap im our win would be akin to Liverpool losing to us in 88. I think the City front two cost more than our squad did.
Did it include this?
Not sure how I feel about a statue….putting aside the success we’ve been fortunate enough to witness over the last 20 years, Dave Whelan’s legacy to both Wigan Athletic and Wigan RLFC is the fact that we are both still in existence and on a much better footing than would have been the case without his intervention. That and the fact that both clubs play in a stadium which was built through his ambition and finance and the contributions he had made to both clubs should be enough for us all to remember and recognise the importance of the man to professional sport in our town.
Not sure a statue is necessary but I can completely understand why it is being built.
^^
I think some sort of tribute would be fitting, a plaque, the permanent naming of a stand maybe but a statue?! I think it would make us look a bit silly.
We already have the Wembley plaque from the FA.
What pose will he be in?? This could go massively wrong.
Was always going to happen.
I just hope it is treated with respect by locals and visiting fans. There is no reason whatsoever for it not to be treated with respect.
It was always on the cards after what he has achieved at WAFC and it is very well deserved.
I can’t wait for it to be donned with hats, scarves and flags when we get promotion next May.
From a Latics POV no there’s not, but he hasn’t exactly adhered himself to fans of other clubs or rugby fans and sadly idiots exist these days.
Similarly, I doubt the Billy Boston one will last long before that gets vandalised.
I just hope it is treated with respect by locals and visiting fans.Doubt it, sadly.
Lee Butler was a good shot stopper but was a proper vampireWe’ve had a few of them over the years.
With your nickname Yokey are you not from Barrow or Whitehaven? No mate. I know a Latics fan who is though.
Wrong manufacturer if my source is correct.
Well I would draw the line here Garswood. I detest The Lilyshites Knob End.
Hat trick from one of their strike partnership.Hope Gary was watching but somehow don’t think this tactic will catch on at Latics. Its old fashioned, a thing of the past and outdated. There is no congratulations to them twats from me either. I hate them with a passion as much as the klumps and the noblot.I thought you guys would be happy to see your home town club do well.
Bit harsh on Lanky
Brian McLaughlin nearly got in mine but Peron just beat him to it.
How about Leigh Jenkinson and Ged Brannan?
Too many to choose so I’m doing two. In no particular order.
Premier League era
Olivier Kapo
Rachid Bouhazzan
Julius AgahowaPre Premier League
Alan McLoughlin
Jeff Peron
Stefan BidstrupSo how much does Boycie earn Tez and what were his deductions for relegation so we can work it out proper?
Holt goes straight into my top 3 for the worse ever Latics buysReally? I know his signing has been a bit of an error, but top three worst?
Funny how all the negative comments come out when someone leaves a club, isn’t it?
We should have a field day with the bunch that have just left us then
Nah. We decide to do it when they’re here.
