39 Italians went to watch their team in the European Cup Final and never came home.
RIPYeah, my Facebook feed is full of scousers asking us all to commemorate this tragic event in football history and offer up our respect and condolencies for the Italian and Belgian lives that were lost that day.
Oh hang on.. no it wasn’t. They must have forgotten.
I’ll be honest, the post was slightly tongue in cheek for that exact reason ;)
Bit of an aggressive blog that one mate.
Bobby Zamora won’t be offered a new contract at QPR apparently. I’d get him signed before Cardiff sign all the available strikers and we’re left with Holt.
I read that he is/was on £60k a week at QPR so I doubt that he’s in Latics price range
True, but he won’t get that at many other clubs and will probably be first choice here so it comes down to what the player wants I guess.
Good luck to him, but it would be at rrible move in my opinion. Bruce’s style of play will not suit him.Good job Gus Poyet is in charge then really ;)
Correct Vince. The Glazer takeover was the final straw really.
One of their early songs (they may still sing it) was:
When FC Utd come out to play na na
When FC Utd come out to play na na
When FC Utd come out to play it’s 3 o’clock on a Saturday
Cos we don’t work for Sky Sports any more.Bobby Zamora won’t be offered a new contract at QPR apparently. I’d get him signed before Cardiff sign all the available strikers and we’re left with Holt.
Cardiff have also signed Federico Macheda on a free.
Plenty of firepower.
When Dave took Latics over there was no FFP rules in place. Yes we had a benefactor far outweighing our turnover etc but we didn’t bend any rules.
Nor were we the highest spenders in the league at the time.
To be fair, QPR’s big spending under Fernandes was done before FFP was brought in & they weren’t signatories to the football league’s rules either.
Having committed to big money, long term contracts prior to being relegated to the football league, there was absolutely no chance that they would be able to comply with them once they were in the Championship. Whilst still spending way more than they bring in they have also shifted a lot of players off their wage bill.If Fernandes had come in after the football league’s FFP rules & splashed out £100mill but he didn’t & their transfer outlay last season of about £10mill was less than they received from the parachute payments. The rest of the players they brought in were (like Latics) either freebies or loans
My comment was more in response to Mutty’s and everyone in the media at the time who said we bought the league/promotions that we won.

Personally I thought Collison was woeful in his time here.
Here’s a suggestion Egg. Why don’t you change your avatar on the RL board to show Emmerson Boyce holding the FA Cup aloft, change your name to “The Tic” and see how you get on?
If I still posted on there then I would do just that. Most of them on there are fully aware that I’m a Latics fan and I’ve mentioned them several times.
I actually think my avatar for quite a while was the exact picture that it is on here until I changed it before the World Cup started.
Why don’t ya post on their anymore egg mon is there a secret website fort Chubbies and like minded obese punters ?
Got bored of it
Glad they went down after Butcher jumped ship
I hope QPR win.
I hate them, you see.
And so I’d rather we played Derby next season, and let QPR flounder in the Premier League, waste money, suffer embarrassing defeats, and sack the buffoon before Christmas.
Surely if you hate them you would sooner Derby win?! If QPR are not promoted this season
then thay are in for financial meltdown. I am sure I read somewhere that their wage bill is bigger than their turnover and bigger than Borrusia Dortmunds wage bill!
And Atletico.
That from Garswood is the sort of weird logic I would expect from a Liverpool fan ;)
In defence of Redknapp, as much as I don’t particularly like him its a bug bear of mine that he gets accused of crippling 3 clubs – he didn’t. He identified players he wanted & the owners authorised how much a transfer fee would be & how much they’d get paid. Not Redknapp. If at any point either the transfer fee or wages were out of their budget, all they had to do was say no (at which point admittedly redknapp would have probably looked to move on)True I guess.
Less of the sensible posts or you’ll get one of Garswood’s strikes ;)
It has always cost more to pay by direct debit, hasn’t it? That’s just standard practiceCorrect. It now costs just £20 more though as opposed to having a percentage increase.
