Once again – rugby compresses the turf as players fall downwards onto it. It doesn’t do much damage.
Footballers slide tackle with blades, which slice the turf up and does a great deal of damage.
My source? Talking to groundsmen for year after year when I stewarded the tunnel.
Don’t try to talk sense on here about rugby GL. You know it doesn’t work.
The pitch is either re-laid or treated each off season which is why Wigan don’t play at home in June.
Quite a few bad signings have been mentioned here as opposed to pointless ones. Looking more for signings who were always injured or never featured.
Carlo Nash would be one as would the Italian keeper we signed with the incredibly hot Mrs. Raphael Nuzzo??
Could be a few more loanees on the way though when the window re-opens on Monday
You avoided actually answering!
Where will you be on Good Friday Egg?
Where do you think I’ll be?
Question for Egg – If they both kick off in the afternoon, which fixture will you be attending?
Don’t even need to think about it.
I think you’re totally right there, Egg. :)
Think we may disagree on the other part though
Good answer!:P

Wigan have signed defender Markus Holgersson, who was a free agent after leaving New York Red Bulls in January, on a deal to the end of the season.
The 28-year-old, who was capped once by Sweden, played 67 times in two seasons with the Major League Soccer side alongside former Premier League stars Thierry Henry and Tim Cahill.
“Markus had a few options available to him,” said Latics manager Uwe Rosler. “We are delighted he has chosen to come to Wigan Athletic.”
Get past Cardiff and draw the winner of either of the Sheffield games and who knows, we could be heading back to Wembley.
It was a very important midweek programme – for Premier League clubs, that is. The results could well have a significant influence on league positions at the end of the season. Some of us still take an interest in the Premier League. I’d say the results are worthy of a mention here – or are comments to be limited to just one aspect of sport within the borough?
How long has Everton been in the borough of Wigan?
Is Razzle still going? The old “I don’t know the answer myself” chestnut ;)
Oh and one last thing. In 2012, when Wigan Warriors where defending the 2011 Challenge Cup their first home attendance was less than 4,200. Criticise that, gobshite.I was there :D
Wigan RL averages can be found here http://wigan.rlfans.com/fusion_pages/index.php?page_id=489 and have never been less than 4200 ;)
Anyway, enough of defending Mutty….
My point about your League Cup attendance being that Sunderland are supposedly a big club who are doing pants in the league and had a big chance to forget that with a semi final against the Champions yet their attendance was woeful for a club of that size. Yes 9000 went to the second leg which was impressive, but how many had bought their tickets before the first leg?
Attendances for cup matches always drop nowadays. It’s called a recession.
Good draw for us that and definitely a winnable tie.
Regards Mutty and his crowd comments……Did you watch the 1st leg of the League Cup semi? Was it fancy dress?
All I ever ask was that the club bring it to the fans on a home match day and let them see it for free, that cant be too much to ask is it. Oh yes and advertise to the fans as well that it is there. They did that a few weeks ago (well months now technically) when they erected a special trophy cabinet in the Reception which is open each and every match day.
They even advertised it as well.
Sounds crap to me. You should have just watched the FA Cup final again.
