Latics fans yes, but some Wiganers would not have been happy on that day!
Correct ;)
I’ll guarantee someone moaned about us having 6 games in Europe and not 2.
That’s fair enough. He should get another chance next Tuesday – in what position I don’t know.I’d go with:
Nicholls (really want to see him given a chance)
Shotton Perch Barnett Crainey
McManaman Powell Gomez McArthur McClean
Fortune (our only option so no choice really unless we play Callum upfront)
Powell said he felt off the pace so maybe that’s why he was brought off
I would have said it was obvious why he was on the bench and was brought on.
He was on the bench in the hope of not needing him and was brought on as an outlet for the defence to hold the ball up and try and hit them on the break. Similar reason to Dicko coming on with his pace that he opted not to use when given the chance and gave the ball away instead.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Wiganers are NEVER happy.
Who cares how we performed? Who cares that our second string side was lucky? The fact is we got a point away from home in Europe in a competition that isn’t even our priority..
I thought considering the conditions and the line-up that that was a cracking point. It’s obvious that promotion is our main priority but I thought what I would class as our ‘second string’ side did pretty well.
Ryan Shotton looked quite good, Carson was quite good (a few crosses aside. His defence from crosses does worry me) and Nick Powell showed some good touches.
Anyone who plays in Europe on a regular basis will tell you that any point away from home is a good point. Yes there were concerns at times but as I said that was a side that included at least 5 players that won’t play when we have a full squad to choose from.
Our defending (Forest aside) has worried me this season. We do seem to have the same old problem though that our midfield couldn’t win a kicking contest against a bloke with one leg.
On another point I had to laugh today when a national newspaper said that the 2500 we are taking over to Belgium is one of our biggest ever away followings?????
Nearly choked on my muffin man pie at that -we used to take twice that in the old division 4 and could anything beat the 25000 who travelled to Everton in January 1980?You forget that we didn’t exist until 2005 though so 2500 is one of our biggest followings considering the poor away followings since our maiden PL season.
No doubt the thousands of empty seats there tonight will be our fault should we win. I’m expecting comments such as “feeling at home in a half empty stadium” should we win and “well out of their depth” should we lose.
Swansea of course will be brutally unlucky to lose 5-0.
Take plenty of snaps and let us know those stories you can tell and we will setup a European Tour diary on here and the facebook page.
That goes for anyone going to any of the European games be it home or away.
Well the first ‘ oops’ story of the next few days . A lad has just turned up at the airport or ferry( not sure which). His wife’s passport in his hand.
Oh dear.Remember that happening back in the day when we flew to London. Luckily for the offender it was when you could use your driving licence or credit card as ID and he was allowed to fly.
Seen a few Tics on the train to the Airport this morning. Made me even more gutted to be sat in work.
Enjoy the day everyone and as said above, do us proud as supporters.
The Freemasons at Goose Green has it on. Myself and a few others watching it in there.
The weekly quiz night is on after as well for any masterminds amongst us.
So gutted I can’t get time off work.
Really looking forward to going to Maribor when we hopefully qualify but it looks like this is the big one following wise. :(
