I think they did yes after they hadn’t been paid for months. They are two totally different scenarios, but I would be interested to see what would happen at the end of this month if we couldn’t pay them and they effectively were able to walk.
Possibly. I don’t think it matters how it’s paid but it has to be paid.
We also still have bills to pay such as wages so not every penny of a transfer fee will go towards covering that.
The £6m that we owe is to football creditors (it is for transfer fees) and that has to be paid in full otherwise we lose a further 15 points. Any other creditors we can pay either 25p in the pound or 35p over 3 years.
You’re right.
Jackson out!
Well the administrators explained it to me personally and Paul Kendrick who speaks to the players and club on a daily basis has tweeted the details as well. Also as someone else has pointed out, I think Joffy would have noticed if his pay was wrong. I know the version of events I believe and it isn’t those from a troll on a message board.
The fact still remains whichever version is true that Joffy was under contract and we have received a fee for him. As we are in administration we are not in a position to demand £10m+ for him when essentially he can leave for free if we don’t pay him and so can everyone else if we don’t pay them.
Presumably, the sale of Joffy will go towards paying the wages we owe meaning the players can’t walk at the end of the month which is the current scenario.
Nobody has signed an exclusivity contract yet which is quite worrying as you say.
11 August 2020 at 11:54 am in reply to: New owners, “Were are you !!, let’s be having you!!” #188702It was “incomplete” because he never signed the extension when he turned 18. No cock-ups, no amateur mistakes and no knock on effects on the fee we would have gotten for him. Had he gone for free then fair enough, but he went for the same fee that he would have gone for whether he had 1 year or 10 years left.
11 August 2020 at 11:20 am in reply to: New owners, “Were are you !!, let’s be having you!!” #188699Jonathan Jackson is the .modern day Arthur Horrocks, he bleeds Latics blue. I cant believe anyone would even question his worth to this club.
I would have him as our CEO after all this has passed no problem. He eats, drinks and breathes WAFC. Anyone who slags him off does not know the man.
Really not sure why he is getting any stick in this, although it doesn’t surprise me.
I’m surprised we haven’t lost more high profile names but I wouldn’t be surprised if clubs are hanging on in the hope that we don’t pay them and they can then walk away for free.
I wasn’t aware he was trying to sell anything
Jackson might as well fcuk off for what input he has
Elaborate
It’s clearly just nonsense LHL so I wouldn’t read too much into it
Don’t think it is theres to sell anymore
What are these debts you speak of muttster?
“North of 6 million” was what the administrator said on the podcast.
I’d take him as a reliable source. My understanding of it is that we have £6m worth of football debts which are for transfers. Most of this will be soaked up bytv money and player sales. We have no other debts.
I think the administrators looked at a £9m loss and expected us to have a load of creditors like most clubs in this position such as food providers, medical suppliers, rent on properties, taxes etc. We have none of that.
Our losses come from a massive wage bill (still one of the lowest in the division) which we fund with a player sale or two.
I’ve been saying on here for years when we sell a player such as Grigg, that the money can’t just be re-invested by buying someone else. A) we don’t get it in one lump sum (this has happened once in 15 years when we sold Valencia) and B) it goes towards plugging the gap from wages.
Seemed to do ok when he played in front of 5 figures against the then all conquering English champions.
PS – More empty seats at the SOL than the DW at that level 👍🏻
Folk like Will Grigg, who is on significantly more than 2K a week, will be getting a big dose of reality next time his contract is up for renewal, when he gets offered about 20% of his current wage. And even at that level, its too bloody much!
Again…….scored goals at every club in that league that he has played for except one. I wonder what the problem could be??
