Said yesterday after the results, we are in the same position as last week really. Beat Pompey and go 7 clear of the drop with 12 to play for. A draw against either Arsenal or the cheats should then see us safe.

David Myers only signed pro papers in 1992 and there were a few young lads who were also not pro.
When Wigan signed any player after 88/89 they used to sign them as a full time pro. If you didn’t want to be then you didn’t sign. Those players that were already on the books were signed as full time when their contract expired. If you didn’t want to be you were moved on. Lucas left in around 1993/94 as he didn’t want to be full time and Shaun Wane was sold to Leeds for the same reason.
It was only at the start of either 1992 or 1993 that the FULL squad was full time pro. Yes, most of our starting 13 were full time but our squad wasn’t. If the rest of RL decided not to follow us until a few years later then that isn’t our fault.
Regards clubs like Leeds and Widnes, Leeds actually had more money than Wigan at that time and signed Ellery Hanley for £250k in 1994

I noticed that the rugby had flags all along the gantry above the north stand last night, must have been about 7 that someone had took the trouble to climb up and put them there for them.There were 17 up on the gantry and one in the disabled bay that arrived too late to go on the gantry. There are another three on order so the gantry will soon be full.
Oh – and it’s f*cking high up there too.
Should have either booked both, sent both off or done nothing.

Whilst I understand the frustrations from some views, from others it’s pathetic. The line ‘I don’t care about them’ really annoys me, as the people who state this are usually the ones who are first to comment when either side loses. Now when I say I don’t care about baseball it’s true. I don’t know the results, the players, the stadia or the rules. I couldn’t give a sh*te.
When I was a kid and Latics were lower league there would be numerous anti Wigan RL chants at games. Now there are few. At rugby there would be no anti Latics chants at all yet now there are a few. My personal opinion is that it is all down to jealousy. Should Latics go down a couple of divisions the rugby will forget them whilst the Latics will begin to sing about them again. This is of course just my opinion but it is based on my own experiences rather than what I read in the paper, was told by my friend etc etc.

Ok im not expecting ppl to change alliegence and jump on the bandwagon but the hatred is pathetic. i have no interest in running but would certainly rather wigan won than say castleford. i dont support wigan or orrell at union but would rather they win than lose unless they play leicester. wanting your home town to fail is pants. we have a team top of sl who are the most famous club in the world at their sport and a team in the pl for a 5th season despite being a small club who have played league football for only 31 years. a sixth of our league history has been in the top league. all cos some egotistical puff years ago n an egotistical old fart have said and done some dumb things we have all this my clubs bigger than yours im a bigger fan than you my dads bigger than yours crap. all very school playground if you ask me.
As I say all my opinion and each to their own etc etc. Oh and BTW, the guy who runs the C & W site is a long time Latics fan who up until this season had a ST.
You say there’s nowt wrong with that Westwood fella but I was talking to a load of Portsmouth fans in the Moon last season and they say no-one can stand him, he’s a knob. I’m not saying he is, I’ve never met him.
Blueview, few of the Pompey fans can actually remember him from games ten years ago, although he claims to have been a die-hard fan all his life.
He and his cronies damaged one of the stands at Fratton last season, by banging his bell (!!!) and various other objects on the perspex sides, despite being warned on several occassions. He got thrown out, and on the way out was making cut throat gestures at the club’s Head Of Security, and shouting that he knew where he lived, and where his kids went to school etc. (allegedly)
That’s what sort of man he is.
Anyway, on the upside, the Security guy got him into his office during the week, made him pay for the damage to the stand, and made him grovel to be allowed back into the stadium. Westwood was nearly in tears.

Maybe the Pompey fans dislike him because he gets more publicity for following the club than they do?
