Good luck to them…..er, I mean him.

Glad we’re not taking him on. Had his chance, got all Billy Big Boots and showed his completely bad attitude.

        Totally agree

why not be happy that now you are the towns big club (although as stated, both sides get around about the same home attendance)

          Where has this been stated?

          I reckon:

Latics average 18,500, rugby average 14,500
Average away support at Latics is 3,500 (from the programme)

So even allowing for no away support at rugby, Latics still get more

There are probably 2,000 away fans on average at rugby games (when you consider Saints bring 7-8,000) so there home support is around 12,000 versus 14 v 15k of ours.

And their number includes around 1,500 a game who don’t actually turn up but they count anyway.

Latics only count those in attendance, the rugby count the number of tickets they’ve sold, or more often given away – a whole stand in the case of one game last year

You need to decide which side your on as if you’re going to come out with drivel like that then it’s clearly not ours. I’ve not seen anyone sticking up for Latics amongst the hatred filled liars and bullshitters over at RLfans.com.[/quote]

I meant as stated by me in a previous post, and as someone who does indeed watch both clubs (and has since 1994) it isn’t as far from accurate as you say.

Wigans last home game saw them face Warrington. Recently knocked out the cup by the same club and on Sky – the crowd was 13452 with approx 1600 Wire fans (given by the ticket office)

Latics first game of the season, Bobby back, and after a massive win at Villa got 16661 with 4500 Wolves fans (maybe more) So yes there were more Latics fans but not many. The ground should have been bouncing.

Wigan v Harlequins (ok they gave tickets to Heinz but they were paid for by Heinz at a discounted rate) attracted a crowd of over 14k with around 25 away fans. The same game last year (with no Heinz tickets) attracted a crowd of 11453 so thats 11400 ish Wigan fans. Look at the lesser Latics games such as Fulham when no away fans come and you’ll see it isn’t THAT different. Yes Latics get a few more but not by massive numbers.

Lets be honest, that ground should be full EVERY week. Yes we have competition from other clubs and allegiances that will never die but the marketing dept should be doing more to fill the ground imo. Afterall RL is a minority sport and so low crowds are to be expected yes?

Oh and you’ll regularly see me defend both Latics and this site on the RL Fans board ;)

Some of the posts on here are why I didn’t want Bobby as manager. One poor performance and defeat and people are on his back.

I bet they are yellow water off now they are paying tennants.

Oh yeah. As someone posted on C & W though, at least we weren’t kicked out of Central Park for a playoff game.

On a separate note – would Latics fans have gone to watch WAFC at Central Park had DW’s plans of redeveloping Central Park gone ahead?

I can’t wait to see us against United. What I mean is, a team that will allow us to play our passing game, if you know what I mean?

Could be a cracking game, as it happens.

Well after last night, regardless of how Utd play i’m sure the lads will want to perform (as of course will utd after tonight)

Cracking game of football with a 1 goal Utd win.

Not really gonna happen though is it? Well until he sells up.

The rugby fans hate him because of the playoff incident.

At the same time as the rent being good economically though – so is not p*ssing off the people who pay you rent.

Basically it’s an empty gesture from DW and nothing more.

Is it OFFICIALLY our stadium now then?

Has Whelan signed it over to us yet?

As I said in my post – I don’t think so.

Rugby fans never used to think twice about Latics let alone look for their results. Now they’re concerned and even sing a song about not liking them. Something else that should make the Latics fans smile.

Please don’t call our fans idiots just because they remember the days when Wigan rugby fans rubbed our noses in the ground and are still feeling bitter about it. I am one of those fans and would sooner yellow water on a rugby fan than look at them.

thank fook I’m in the west and sat on a blue seat. Now how big of an idiot does that make me.

It doesn’t, but whining and moaning about the name of a stand does. I mean what does it actually matter? A stand at City is called The Bell End ffs

It’s nothing like the same though is it.

If Celtic and Rangers shared a ground (regardless of who owns it, still DW as far as I know at the minute) then there’d be things in place for both clubs.

Imagine two fierce rivals (at the same sport as well. wow fancy that) like Lazio and Roma, or AC Milan and Inter Milan sharing a ground. No f*cking way could that happen. Oh wait – IT DOES!!!!

Yes I understand the history and what went on, but times have changed. Now Latics are a PL club and Wigan aren’t as successful as they once were. Instead of sounding like bitter old men and making Latics fans look like idiots – why not be happy that now you are the towns big club (although as stated, both sides get around about the same home attendance) and the rugby club are in your shadow. Why not be happy that the rugby club pay the football club rent? Why not be happy that if Latics have a bog standard league match and Wigan have a big playoff game that could decide their season, then Latics will play at home and the rugby will have to play elsewhere? Why not focus your attentions on getting behind Latics from whatever stand you like instead of petty comments like ‘i’m not sitting there because it’s an even number and I only like odd numbers’
